  4. Ha ha Dems. ........no occasion too dull without a nice little fricassee of class wit and repartee wholly appropriate contextually given my musical bent. What's that old saying.........if the cap fits..........wait a minute, am I in the right thread? I definitely went left, left and left again, so I should be in lost and found lying next to a pair of old fingerless gloves and a WMD. Lets be honest I really only got the gig first time around cos I used to be a Mod, (Brighton beach and all that) which made perfect sense to me, cos what other criteria could be as remotely relevant as that one. Correct...none! So all you rockers watch out cos once I get these cataracts sorted out and this walking frame fixed I'm gunning for ya. "We are, we are, we are the mods!" JTB
  5. I remember an old thread along similar lines where one of the members (can't remember who) was attempting to set a new trend of wearing the watch on top of the shirt/sweater? We all had a good laugh at that one. JTB
  6. To old friends and new - many thanks for your kind words. I have always had the utmost respect for the people who diligently run this board and consider it an honour to be invited back to "help out" although you'll find me fairly laid back in the moderating department. The bottom line is I like a laugh. I've got more reps than I need these days so my collecting days are probably over until the perfect sub comes out! Who's got it? It's also great to see a couple of other "old timers" like Dems and DLGates posting again. Big respect to you all JTB
  7. I'm having difficulty finding one Yorkshiremen in this thread far less four!
  8. Belated best wishes Jennifer. My eldest daughter is a Jennifer - which is a beatiful name. JTB
  9. "A lot of my audience are in their 50s but they want me to continue to pretend that I'm pretending" - PT
  10. Maybe topical......"Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss." - PT
  11. Holy macaroni......12,000 Ken!!! I have missed a lot. JTB
  12. .....and may I just add that to proceed a post by Dems who has more insight than you could shake a stick at and brings to this and other boards such refreshing and absorbing analytical thinking an honour. JTB (accept no SUBSTITUTE)
  13. I laughed as well but I did so outside this thread which is compliant with the instructions set out at the beginning of the thread. Just thought I would clarify this.
  14. I remember that smoke filled room when a plan was hatched not that long ago. I remember the naysayers who said it couldn't work. I remember Thomas's courage to take on another board but most of all I remember the hard work and dedication of my old friends at RWG. Looks like the plan worked......big time. Kudos to everyone. Special shout out for Ken whose enthusiastic approach was what kept many of us believing. JTB
  15. Remind me not to bring ma kilt if I ever visit!
  16. many happy returns my friend. 2009 is kicking off just fine now. Lang may yer lum reek. John
  17. Well, she who must be obeyed is taking me out to a mystery restaurant for some fine Caledonian cuisine. As long as they take the antlers off it first! @ Dems - I've been asked to tread the boards again at a charity concert in March and so I'm starting to put some thought towards a set list. First one penned in is "Can't Explain". We used to kick off our gigs with that one back in the day and it always got a great reception. Who knows ...I may get the gig bug again. Time to dust that Strat down and rework some of my songs (given that most are now 20+ years old). Will keep you posted on progress. @ all - this 50 lark might not be so bad after all. Many thanks again for your kind wishes. I've been blazing out "Sunshine on Leith" by The Proclaimers on my iPod. I dedicate it to you all. You guys are the best. Slainte Mhath! JTB
  18. Thanks guys. The wife has taken me thro to Edinburgh for the weekend and we spent the first minutes of my bday enduring a fire alarm at our posh hotel out on the pavement at midnight. The result of which was that I couldn't get off to sleep when we got back to our room so I now feel like sh*t. Roll on 60! Ken - the main reason I am back is the friendship extended by you, Alan, Thomas and many others. Many thanks to you all. John
  19. Bob, Wonderful shots as always although what was missing was a frozen submariner locked in a vice being thawed out with a blowtorch. Chances? JTB
  20. I could be mistaken but I think he's asking who has the best anniversary sub? Anyone?
  21. I said "first left, SECOND right". Sheesh!
  22. Well, you could call him out......but only if you can take references such as "seems" or "appears" out of your case. Otherwise do nada. JTB
