  1. those are STREET quality reps. just buy a n00bmariner for 150 bucks and take it from there. change the pearl and insert and youre better off than what youve got now, cheaper in the long run as well than trying to upgrade parts
  2. i remember reading a short thread about this exact problem before on the forum , i just cant find that thread again. other than that and the movement having a bit of judder in the sweep as explained on yet another thread as to why, its a great movement, and considering it costs $25.
  3. hey guys, I've managed to regulate my 4813 within +2 seconds a day. HOWEVER I find after the date change at midnight at some point there after the minute hand loses time and slows down, thus lagging behind. maybe losing about 30secs a day in terms of posistioning in relation to the NOW accurate second hand. any ideas? thanks
  4. 4813 are reliable and can be accurate with minor adjustment, they can also take some abuse, but has a loud rotor, and the dates takes a few hours to click over. only problem with mine is the minute hand slips or something, and while the second hand remains accurate +2secs a day the minute hand starts too slow down and it looses time that way.
  5. "kenko extension tubes" $80-$100 MUCH better than the $6 plastic rings
  6. i glued it directly to a spacer ring after clipping the feet
  7. i'm literally using a paper thin sticker, overlaying on the existing plastic datewheel with a spacer ring for the additional height. i tried gluing the overlay with a for paper glue stik, did not work well, so i used a 15minute drying permanent epoxy from a tube. same one i used to glue the spacer ring in place. just use the head of a pin to apply the glue sparingly. i tested it with the dial on loose, and it flipped through all the dates without any resistance. the key is the spacer ring
  8. THATS IT! i've seen enough of this DAMN watch IM BUYING ONE!

  10. NICE collection! GMT looks gen as does the no date, Explorer does not
  11. print your own datewheel and stick it
  12. practise makes perfect, an oil chart removes the guess work...buy a junker movment and practise some basic concepts
  13. some things in that kit you wouldnt need at a beginner level or can substitue with others tools you're already more likely to own. id get other tools in place of those
  14. Seagulls alright, but sometimes never resets perfectly and running the chrono to the 30mins is often inaccurate by about 30-40secs by the time it reaches the 30minute count.
  15. the thing about bears is theyre BIG cowards unless caught be surprise OR with cubs. theyre MORE afraid of you than you *should be* of them
  16. discovery channel busted the pig story as being exaggerated
  17. ive fixed stiff links by sanding the parts that rub with 1200grit paper for a short amount of time.. no visible sanding and gets the job done. the insert that comes with the euromariner is junk...at least you got a rather decent pearl, but change out the insert and you'll notice a world of difference. you will run into problems tho with it snapping into the bezel ring, crystal looks a touch too tall, but still very nice. im undecided if i'm going to keep the engraving on mine or not, having the engraving kind of marks your watch as a specific year. i am currently awaiting confirmation for some parts from chris and a speedmaster moon watch. His site is also not updated as of yet but i thought he was to be back online by the 5th of december, I hope he gets back on track soon, there's only SO long i can wait.
