  1. My yuki hands were very yellow in colour, perhaps more so after the lume is charged in natural light, however I soaked them in household bleach for a few hours and got a reasonable match to my gen dial.
  2. Cool idea about thinning the case, I noticed my spring bars dont poke all the way through the lug holes. You have certainly put some real effort into that piece. I totally agree with the modern serviced look, particularly due to the shortage of a decent 14060m rep. I intended to go the same way with mine, but I got hold if a gen gloss dial with tritium so I'll use that for now, it is accurate for my l series too. Good luck with the 1680, I love their service disks with the nice White markers.
  3. Gen Smp quartz on NATO today for me.
  4. Fantastic piece. The service dial isn't 'technically' correct for the 1988-1989 L series unless it's undergone a Rolex service , at some point after luminova was introduced to the dials in replacement of tritium. But let me tell you, I do like that srecent serviced look over the vintage look myself. The gen bracelet is a real treat, but so darn expensive I couldn't personally justify one on a rep/ franken, truth is Rolex bracelets feel cheap. I had a 14060m after my Smp and couldn't believe how flimsy and cheap the bracelet felt in comparison to the omega. I know Rolex purists will shoot me down but that's my opinion based on my own comparison. Enjoy wearing that beauty, I'll enjoy looking at your pics as I await my own 5513 and it's return from Domi. Just out of interest I'd like to hear more about the case thinning
  5. Wow, great project. Wish I had confidence and skill to put my own projects together, I've just sent my 5513 to Domi for assembly. Wish I'd got one of your 702 crowns, think I was sold an aftermarket one as a gen! Oh well I'll let Domi do his stuff and see how it looks. Hate the waiting though!
  6. Wow really don't think this bezel ring will go over the crystal? Do I sand the crystal or the inner edge of the steel ring??? Can't get the crystal off now either!
  7. Yeah that's the plan, a non too showy Rolex that's actually a real basic classic. I can't wait.
  8. I was going to put the watch together myself, but in fairness I've saved some money on the project when collecting parts so I've dropped Domi message to see if he can do it for me. This is a taster for me though;
  9. Don't know yet! Just trying to get the bezel to fit over the Clarks crystal.
  10. I decided to go with the yuki yellow hands, the dial is a nice eggshell patina, yukis vintage eta hands were a little too yellow. I dipped them in some bleach for a short time, a couple of black spots appeared, but has taken the edge off the yellow. And increases the vintage look somewhat. Let me know what you think. Sorry for poor pics - iPhone through a loupe!
  11. i just got some of yuki's yellow vintage hands and tghey are just too yellow to match the patina on my gen dial. I have some clarks tudor white hands on order, whats the best way to give them a very slight 'eggshell' tint? ive heard of using coffee, but not sure about the technique, i just need them to be off white. Thanks
  12. I've ordered some yuki yellowy Tudor hands, I'll see how they look. Anyone got a tip or pictures of how to glue the dial to the spacer ring making sure it's centred correctly? I'd hate to get it wrong! Also what's the best type of for work inside the case? Thanks in advance.
  13. I will wait to see how the gen dial looks to see whether the White hands will be ok or not. If not I'll try wso, cheers steve.
  14. I thought about yuki, I didn't see any eta vintage style hands being sold separately though, only as part if a conversion kit. Which ones did you go for? What's the coffee trick?
  15. Please can somebody recommend where I can get hold of some slightly aged Rolex submariner hands to fit the eta movement? White seems to be easy but my gen dial has a slightly creamy/yellow patina, I'd Luke to try to match the hands as best I can (although im aware I'll never get an exact match) Wso sells them but they are $50!
  16. Do you do this as a hobby or do you work at the Rolex service centre??! 
  17. Thanks very much and much appreciated your taking time to give me such a detailed response. cheers.
  18. Wonder why natalies passion dials are cheaper than ndt if it's same person? I have seen the 5513 but I'm actually after a White maxi lume version.
  19. I asked the same question a about 5513 dials. I've been looking at ndtrading and np0234 (eBay) who us a bit cheaper than ndt. I've not seen anything of ndt's dials that suggest they are worth the extra £££'s over yuki etc. Vintage Rolex forum has a good sales Market forum for gen stuff. Perhaps a gen service dial is the way to go. Oh and just out if interest where did you get your MBW case, I'm still hunting!
  20. Question answered, cheers. 1 more quicky - are the tiny sticky Dial pads the best thing to attach the dial to the movement?
  21. Quick question for the experts out there, Does a gen rolex vintage sub dial fit easily onto an eta movement (i know it can be done, but will the dial feet need to be removed first)?, will gen hands fit also? many thanks in advance.
  22. Cool watch that 5513, just what im looking to achieve. I have managed to aquire a gen dial, ckarks rolex/tudor white handset and hopefully a 2846, how does the gen dial fit onto the eta? Does it need much work or is it a direct fit? Thanks
