  1. Based on your post alone, no. Reps are not right for you. You can find plenty of genuine items that are great quality and affordably priced. As far as what people want from reps? Well, that's an individual thing and I'm sure you would get different answers from different people.
  2. PBdad, and Rex450 are other options in the US. Speedy and Rex450 have sections on RG if you need to contact them. Rex has done two A7750's for me. I haven't used Speedy, but have heard good things about him.
  3. To answer the OP's question ... http://blog.tc-sub.com/
  4. If you have to ask, you really don't want to know ...
  5. Depends on where you are. Mymanmatt is widely regarded as the go-to guy for DateJust builds (a little searching would have revealed that). PBdad built mine and did a great job. Both are US based.
  6. The best? Might want to narrow that down a bit. Means different things to different people. Not to mention there are hundreds of DJ and DD options available. It's a bit like saying I want to buy the best car. Are you looking for the best out of the box, without doing any mods, or a franken with mostly genuine parts? If it's the latter, and you don't want to go to mymanmatt, then you'll have to collect the parts yourself and build it, or send it to an EU watchmaker for assembly. DateJusts are pretty easy to find gen parts for. It's probably the best starter franken you can build. If you just want something good enough out of the box, then Sead had some pretty good DateJust offerings recently with ETA (stated) movements. He can ship from the UK, so that' s probably your best bet. The DayDate's are a bit trickier to build frankens of, but I'm sure Sead could probably find you a good out of the box rep of one of those too. Just contact him and tell him what you are looking for.
  7. I'll save you the trouble. You can't.
  8. Seriously? Sorry, I'm done helping you since you don't seem to want to help yourself.
  9. I've already answered this in the first thread you started. No need to start another.
  10. You will have the v4. Version number 'upgrades' are unfortunately not always upgrades. If you did your research you would know about the differences between the v3 and v4 TC bracelets and why there were changes.
  11. No mods are really 'important and critical' for the v6, IMO ... even the insert. Others may differ in opinion, but it's really that good. Perfectionists may want more, but we're talking only minor improvements which may or may not be worth spending the extra money on. It's really up to the owner and the budget. Gen crown is obviously more accurate as would the crystal be, but is that going to make a huge difference to a majority of people, no. In fact, a majority of the people wouldn't know the difference between the v6 insert and the gen either. If you are trying to pass it off as gen among a bunch of gen owners who know the watch well (like many of us here), then do all the upgrades (even the really crazy ones). They will even be able to spot the dial and hands differences and the fit and finish of the bracelet. If you just want it to look good around normal people, then you didn't even need to do the insert. Since you have it coming already, just install it and be done. I did not say the v3 clasp is better than the v4. Quite the opposite. The v3 bracelet is widely regarded as being better, but the v4 clasp is better than the v3's. Plenty of threads about it.
  12. Possible mods (in my order of preference) 1) Gen Insert 2) Gen crown and tube 3) Gen crystal 4) find a TC v3 bracelet and swap the v4 clasp onto it and if you are really crazy 5) Gen bracelet 6) Gen dial, hands, and movement
  13. I bought his 455b's for one of Mary's 7836's and they fit perfectly to my 16014 case. I also bought his 580's for a cartel 93150 to use with HH's 5514 case. They look to fit well too, but I haven't put that one completely together yet to confirm (still waiting on springbars to arrive). WSO has a bit of a reputation here as being difficult to deal with, but the two transactions I had with him went smoothly. Certainly going gen is best if the cost isn't prohibitive. Both members I mentioned in my first post should be able to help you with gen parts.
  14. Alberto86 and Omega can get gen parts. If you are looking for aftermarket, then Wholesale Outlet on eBay. http://stores.ebay.com/WHOLESALEOUTLET990?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
  15. "Who has the best Sub?" IWC version. As always, search is your friend. Hundreds of posts on these watches, and the problems you will encounter with the seconds at 6 movements.
  16. You would be lucky to get a 160xx or 162xx Datejust for less than $2,000 unless it's in bad shape. A 1601 would be more easily found for that budget. You can build a franken (or semi-franken) at any pricepoint from Sead's offerings ($419) all the way up to over $1,000. Just depends on how many gen parts you use and how patient you are with acquiring them. If I had mine to do over again now, I would go with JMB's case, a gen dial, and a clone 2824. Save some money with a rep Jubilee bracelet, or go gen if the budget allows.
  17. I would build one ... wait, I did ... Mine's all gen (but the movement). Obviously I used a Jubilee bracelet and white gold bezel, but the nice thing with the Datejust is you can mix and match parts. But seriously, you should. You can do something simple like get a case set from JMB and pick your own dial, or have mymanmatt build one for you. All depends on what you want to spend. If you want to buy one from a dealer, then Sead's offering looked pretty good (based on the 162xx). http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/166345-datejust-36mm-superclone-3135-great-dj/
  18. You are looking at $250-300 for the gen crystal (new), and $100-150 for the gen insert (new). Gen crown and tube is the other main option. May be able to find used parts for less, or by shopping around if you aren't in a hurry. Omega and Alberto.86 usually have them 'in stock' if you are looking for a quick purchase.
  19. I'm sure he's celebrating somewhere with a 1016 on his wrist. Which one, we don't know ...
  20. Hardly. http://stores.ebay.com/Raffles-Time
  21. When checking out the sales section also look for one built by 'Spinmaster'. He used the DW cases and did all of the movement work.
  22. I'm not married, so lots of women can laugh at my penis, thank you very much ...
  23. Well I can only speak for myself, but I didn't, I don't, and I don't or so I've been told ... Rides a bike and takes public transportation = no job, no money and lives with parents. Does that blanket generalization work for you? Some of us just happen to make enough money to have nice cars, and enjoy driving them. Some of us actually need cars to go places because there isn't public transportation or using a bicycle isn't practical. In addition to being a watch guy, I happen to be a car guy too for much the same reason. Awesome bits of machinery and I love the aesthetics of beautiful designs.
  24. Check with Whoopy. His dial project turned out great.
