I can't imagine that would ever happen .... Best to pop the caseback and check the movement and have an independant appraisal of the diamonds. My guess is they are fake too. The watch itself definitely is. Only other plausible explanaition is the original owner didn't know it was fake before having it blinged out. Regardless, the price alone screams fake. No way adding 25 carats of diamonds on a watch that would cost that without them is going to add up to a pricetag of $5,000 unless there is a divorce going on and one of the spouses is pi$$ed at the other.

The seconds at six movements are a problem. They all will die, it's just a matter of when. Some last awhile, some break in a couple of months. Best you can do is buy one and get it serviced immediately. All of the trusted dealers have access to the same watches, so the best thing you can do is pick your dealer and then contact them with the specific watch you want. If you want high quality, you need to build a franken ... but then you are looking at several thousand USD.

The 162xx series Datejusts use the 3135. 160xx series used the 3035.

Phong produces some high quality stuff. If you do a simple search you will find hundreds of posts from people using his products. He is the go-to guy for many aftermarket Rolex parts. There are also many posts about building Daytona's with good information. Without the specs of the build you are talking about it's hard to tell if $6k is a good price. If he isn't using any gen parts at all, then it's pretty high. You can just buy parts (for example, the mid-case) from him and source other gen and aftermarket parts yourself. You will save some money if you shop well, but be prepared to be patient.

You probably won't find that rep in stock from a dealer anymore. Since they have released both the MRK XVI and XVII, I doubt it's still being produced. If you're stuck on having the XV, then your best bet is to post a WTB and see if you can find one for sale from a member. You will probably need to do the mods yourself however, and I'm not sure if gen hands can still be sourced. Concepta would know.

Yes, there are reps of various versions of the Lange 1 out there. They are all pretty terrible as far as accuracy to the gen goes, but since you're unlikely to actually see a gen in real life, if you like the watch by all means buy one. If you are looking for accuracy, you'll never see it. The movement in the gen is not going to be replicated by the Chinese, so you'll always have flaws like dial spacing, sunken datewheels, etc.

Surely you're joking. The Ebel 1911 Discovery chronograph is widely regarded as one of the most accurate reps you can buy. The caseback is closed so you can't see the movement. The A7750 is a solid movement, and the gen uses the ETA 7750, which is easily swapped into the rep if you feel the need. I never have, and love the rep.

I use the dry chain lube (White Lightning is my preferred brand) method as well, Works like a charm and also if you let it soak for awhile does a good cleaning of all the grime too.

Rex, Vac, Speedy and PBdad are all US based. I have used all but Speedy and they were all great to work with.

Whoopy's dials are great (I have one myself), but dial feet are set for ETA, not gen. I still think the OP should go for a feet first 5513 dial if he wants to use a gen dial. I think they are implying that IF you could find one, the dial price alone would be so high that it isn't worth it. You'd be better off going the pre-Comex 5513 dial (feet first) if you want to go gen dial. Those can be found and it won't cost your Porsche to buy one ...

No worries ... hence my at the end of the first sentence ... While I have no doubt everyone tries to put their best foor forward (myself included) on dating sites (as in real life), with this particular site and all of their claims about finding you "someone you are truly compatible with", all I can say is I was very disappointed. Either their algorythm is completely off, or some answer of mine to the questionaire must have lead it to matching me with mostly incompatible women. The only other possibility is that everyone lies so much when they answer the questions that the whole thing is thrown off.

Well, that's one way to look at it ... We had several good online exchanges and a couple of good phone calls before I decided to make the drive. Long distance relationships are hard enough, but to find out so much about her was hidden from me and/or mis-represented prior to our meeting was the deal breaker.
