  1. From my understanding, only the new dials are lumed well, this one was older and had the typical rep lum....
  2. Thanks, Here is a Davidsen dial I relumed with a kit from otto Frei for about 23 (usd). Got it on right now,,,,glows pretty good.
  3. I've tried a few normal dials with no luck, I've also done two sandwich dials with much more success. IMO, they are a whole different level and more reasonable for people starting out. What I've found is that you have to put the lum on, let it almost dry and then put the dial on. With one attempt I put the dial back together when the lum was still wet and it came blobing right out the cut out markers. Here is a reasonable dial I did. sss, I would be interested in other ways to apply this, I'm simply using a paint brush.
  4. I think people may define problems differently. I'm somewhat detailed with watches, so I can actually say I've never had a rep that was without problems and I've probably had more than 20 now. I usually find problems with my gens also, so my only solution is to become rich so I can afford one of those few perfect watches out there. However, I also see this as a positive, reps have been the motivating force behind getting into all aspects of watch repair from movements to dials and cases.
  5. Not a bad idea,,,,,might give me a reason to show up once in a while. AND I left early today to find nothing but bills in the mail.......guess I'll have to leave early tomorrow also.
  6. I probably have one waiting at home from Joshua, mmm,,,,good reason to leave work early.
  7. Jackson,,,,,,,yes,,,that rings a bell. Didn't Randy Roads play one of those? Any luck with Mr. Crowly? now that was a great solo, would definately make a list of the top ten guitar solos for me.
  8. Thanks,,,now I'll have to dig up my Ibanez and see what I can do.
  9. Looks great, almost looks like a gen. Why is the individual number edited?
  10. I'ld love to hear it,,,,Man, I could NEVER get that solo right......
  11. I still need to do the second course,,,they are very well done but I can't figure out why they start you on the 2801 and not, say a 6497 which seems giant by comparision. In any case, nice work and I'm looking forward to the 2824
  12. That was great,,,,ever see this one? http://www.videoclipped.com/video.php?titl...lken_Prank_Call
  13. I may soon have both the gen and the rep which I recently ordered from Joshua. I have lots of huge watches but the way everyone talks about this one, I thought it was worth getting the rep first just to test out the size. If it wears right I will close the deal on the gen and then sell the rep.
  14. Look under the "accessory dealers", it has all of Davidsen's items.
  15. I've done this a few times. It is pretty easy since the old one is useless, I take a pair of pliers and just move it back and forth a few times and you should feel give, these are not screwed in like some. To put the new one in, I put it in place and just press the case really hard with the case tube on a table, you will feel it "click" into place. Make sure the movement has been removed. good luck.
  16. While checking out the latest watch mag, I noticed that watch photos with a date function seemed to be set for the 28th far more than one would think by chance. I remember reading somewhere that for watch photos, ten after ten is typical because it looks kind of looks like a smile, but why the 28th for the date?
  17. This is very cool,,,,,I'll probably end up getting one if this is the case. thanks
  18. Nice, is sat a gen? I'm trying to put funds together to get the gen, but the rep looks pretty good.
  19. Lum is definately a problem and the reason why I will probably not get the new BR I watch or the new 49 mm railmaster. They look good but once you get used to excellent lum, you can't go back. And re luming these myself is way beyond my level.
  20. that is a good price for an actual swiss movement with that level of decoration. Will they be made available to the rest of the forum? Also, where did you get the case and CG? That is an impressive rep, one of those that really makes you question getting a gen.
  21. Great movement, even the pallet bridge is decorated. You don't see that even on the gen pams.
  22. It's a very cool watch depending on the price. I mean, if this is under 1,000 (usd) I would say it looks great. If these are going for 2-3, I'm not interested. I couldn't find any price info.
  23. I ended up getting a press from Birdman for those types of things, but you can get a very cheap screw down clamp from any hardware store for about 5 bucks that will also do the job.
  24. I appreciate the post too,,,,,,,,a good reminded that many of us are not exclusive to reps but converse about the same topics as any watch forum. It was funny timing. I was driving home thinking of myself as a movement snob because I prefer the gen swiss made 6497 as opposed to the asian made. I guess it's all relative.
  25. The inhouse issue was never a serious issue for me. All I care about is getting a good swiss movement. I think it was the tag CEO that said something like "why reinvent the wheel, if someone already makes a good movement use that one". Makes perfect sense but I do like it when a company will at least personalize a movement a little.
