Here is my fiddy from Joshua. Very nice, totally tight cg nice crystal. I'm going to try and turn it into a something like a 6152 using a dial from davidsen. Then, it will be closer to my favorite. BTW, the strap was a father's day gift from my wife. Pretty nice..

Yes,,,,my friends don't like reps.......to be more precise, they don't like me talking about them all the time.

Nice pics,,,that is actually one of my favorites, but I wear my watch on my right hand and the crown guard was too much for me. However, if you wear it on your left hand like you and most others, I would think this is much more comfortable than the fiddy.

Very nice,,,,, Today I engaged in the act of a truely desperate man, I bought a lottery ticket. If I win, that will be my first purchase.

because of the same condition (being lazy) I'm stuck also. When I called they had no idea when they were getting more or when I should try calling back. They did seem pretty happy to hear me ask about it. At this point I'm curious how many people have called them?

I got into watches years ago first with some pretty contempory things like a seamaster and tag, then it was panerai but on the contemporary side, now I'm pulled more and more into older and older watches, right now WM's watches, the MM20 and anything that looks like the Pam 6152 (these are all pams but I'm sure Rolex and other brands have their own versions of comtempory vs vintage). At this point, I'm not sure I'll ever get into a modern looking watch again.......anyone ever recover from this? I even find myself wanting a plexiglass crystal over sappire. Now that is strange.

That crystal must really add to the wieght. Very nice,,,,I can't deal with all the nice vintage models I've seen in the last few days. To be more precise,,,I can't deal with not having a few of them.

Go England... And Some Pams: 24, 63, Pvd 195 And A Vintage.

I can't believe that 195 is the same watch, that strap really makes it look great. Nice collection, what is the story on the vintage as far as movement and where you go it? -
To Davidsen: If you now have the 47 mm case. Why not make some of us really happy and do a 47 mm vintage model. I was going to buy this just for the case but you already have the other dial so I guess the only other thing would be the reg tradmark on the crown guard. On this I would even do the unfinished 6497 movement. Personally, I don't really care how much it looks like a gen, I just want a watch I personally like. IMO I think the getting rid of the recessed pin is a big improvement. I really don't like how it looks. Very nice.

Depending on the part, it can be easy to order parts for this movement, have your tried the following. http://www.julesborel.com/ http://www.ofrei.com/index.html I've never lost a part in the "triangle" as they call it. Strange luck, I always seem to find it.

The rich mans group has the last of my money. For three thousand I think the WM's watch is a great deal and would do it in second. I'm sorry to go on about this, but that is my perfect watch. Damn, my raise at work doesn't start for two months or I would seriously consider it. I actually like it better than the mm20. With that movement I like it three times as much.

Just took a look, I'm sick with envy. man that thing is cool.

My philosophy with working on watches is that if you have any concerns about time, you increase the chances of making silly mistakes. I swear, every single stupid thing I've ever done working on a watch, ironically, was when I started to think how long is this taking me and when will I be done? I agree with the screw camps being a pain, it takes forever and just seems to be one the least rewarding parts of the job. first, it always seems like the dent in the case is too low and if I get the clamp in it is sticking up and almost needs to be bent down to fit. I just did two movements today and had this exact problem with both. I guess the movement isn't fitting correctly in the case but I replaced it several times. After I get it to fit right, I usually set the screw with tweezers and try to get it started with the tip of the tweezer. For me, my favorite part is setting the hands, the least favorite part is working on those screw clamps to hold the movement in.

You have a great collection. The davidsens are very nice. I think the CG is actually larger than a gen (at least the space between the crown and guard is larger). While this could be a give away that it is a rep, I actually might like it.

A little update on the Cannon pinion and hour wheel
chris5264 replied to cwai02's topic in General Discussion
Man, I just called and these are on back order, I must have just missed them. This is the second time. I guess I'll just keep calling. If anyone gets an order in, please PM me and I'll call right then. -
I see what you mean now, I've used the dremel to shorted the tube on hands. In a sense it was like turning rep hands into regular hands. I've done it a few times without any problems.

very nice gift,,,particularly thoughtful that you got the box on ebay. good choice on the 42mm, the business world can be somewhat conservative.

I agree, on a base this should be an easy fix. However, in every other way, this is a perfect watch.

A basic heuristic about humans is that we like to show off what we know. I’m not saying this judgmentally, It is true for myself also I admit. Because so many of us are passionate about watches, the obvious question comes up “how could you not know about watches?” I can understand the curiosity of walking into an AD, (in watches, the AD is the equivalent of the playboy mansion) and dealing with someone who gets to hang out here all day but ISN’T into it. It’s like we see a part of reality that the rest of the world misses. How can you NOT see the recessed pin, the poor lum? It is like watching a beautiful sunset and seeing those around you casually thinking that is only getting dark out. We perceive a part of reality that others don’t (Is Monday a good day to drink a bottle of Italian red?)

the rp may be the only problem with this otherwise perfect watch. A similar one with a 6497 was just up for sale and if I had the cash, I would have picked it up in a second.

I am with you on this, I find the recessed pin a necessary fix. I just got a really nice fiddy from Joshua and the only thing that bugs me is the recessed pin. IMO the recessed pin is worse than the poor lum. The only real fix is to get the longer CP and Hour wheel. However, even after that you need to file down the old hands. My preference is to get some non-capped hands from davidsen. His hands have great lum and having the hands lumed is probably more important than the dial. This week, I'm doing a davidsen dial and hands on my fiddy.

Have you looked at the timezone online watch school? I did the first class and thought it was a really good way to get started. I have a few cheap movements I bought but never did much with them. Drop me a PM and I'll send you one.

I had to postpone my vintage order with river, however I may order tonight, it is nice to hear that he is such a responsible dealer from others. However, we need more pics....
