Got to admire the man, equally happy to the 'Lost in Translation' style smirk into camera, arms crossed, wrist bared shot, but also not afraid to have a little fun here and not take himself so seriously. Kudos to Omega and their creative and online agencies to for making me smile on entering a watch manufacturers site.

Very true....still stupid though

Hmmm, the c.3313 is an auto alright (used in Constellations), but a crappy one, and keeps the OSC's occupied as they are prone to unreliability. Odd though that the promo shot shows the chrono secs as the running secs hand, and the subdials all zeroed. Hmmm.

Sacrilege. And like their anniversary models this year, excruciatingly dull. At least the Snoopy and Moon to Mars editions were at least errr....'interesting'.

Is Angus out for the count? What's up with Puretime?

Having the same experience, very strange not like him at all. Maybe under the weather? -
Hmmm, depends what you brought back from Thailand, horologically-speaking? Not sure it will be of use (if you've already submitted paperwork saying Black 30GB) but I have box/packaging/papers from my old 2005/6 20GB iPod (Photo) - both are discontinued now anyway and insurance will replace like for like - you can probably get a Touch for the insurance value. LMK if you want pic - insurance companies are bastards so more than happy to help.

Actually Lani, the TT gen predates this SS model by a year - this was the so-called 'Anniversary GMT' - the 116713LN. Rolex now always put out the TT or FG version out first almost as a test bed before introducing the SS version - seems to be their way recently and they've done it again with the new Sub.
-
To clarify then, where is this fabled $165 version of the 7750 MkII SLR coming from???
-
But that's the Mk I SLR (although I have auto version with black DW), there is also a quartz (eeuwww) mk II version with crappy case etc.... Oh and crappy = inaccurate = was what I meant to say.
-
I saw that Pix, but no reference made as to where this 165 model was coming from. I know most dealers have the $125 crappy quartz version though so assume it must be this.
-
That's because the flat-top 3 for c.3035 doesn't exist - you are correct. But these are generic Either there's some hithero unspotted demand for that vintage look on a modern Sub/SD or they've printed a generic c.1570 DW by mistake....I'll bet it is the latter. *edit* Freddy's DJ knowledge is surely correct so ignore me - I don't do DJs or DDs, sports Rolex all the way baby - so arrogantly assume they don't exist, ooops
-
Well I thought I'd spare you at least that shred of dignity but alas in vain.....
-
Well that's at least one I've saved from the false prophet that is NDT, all is not in vain after all. J, the phrase is actually a little less elegant this side of the pond - "to p*ss on someone's chips" (as in fries), but I imagine it has the same sour vinegary taste :ltongue:
-
Oi you big girl.....stop teasing and just post the bloody photo, you know the one sitting glinting next to your other piece of rusted junk
-
Nope. Date advances CW for ETA, this particular Rolex calibre advances CCW
-
Sure why not if you like having your pants pulled down, bank account rifled, divorce, booze, breakdown....etc. Good luck with that If only you knew......

Sorry to urinate on your french fries, and at the risk of upsetting you (knowing how much you paid NDT for this redial) I have to be honest and say it screams bad redial/fake. Aside from the poor attempt to recreate the (smaller, condensed) font most commonly seen for the red Submariner text, the early chocolate dials actually appear off-black and only reveal their 'chocolate' appearance under sunlight. Nanuq's gen mkII 1665 is a perfect example and I'm sure he'll repost a pic if he sees this. The appearance is, I'm told, is as a result of UV ageing of the dial over the years. This NDT dial however looks overly brown, and contrasts hugely with the jet-black insert - at least fade your insert to match. Sorry, not meaning to be harsh but I happen to think there's one born every minute when it comes to NDT prices, especially redials. Cases aside (which are obscenely marked-up in price from source) there are far better redials to be had for less money. *update* I see in fact our Alaskan friend is indeed reading this right this second - here comes the pic folks

Thanks Freddy. Here's my take on it... The obsessed Rolex collector is often considered an obsessive-compulsive, but there is actually a wide heterogeneity of possible diagnoses, including post-traumatic stress disorder, paranoia, and various character disorders. The obsession can be conceptualized, according to psychodynamic object-relations theory, as resulting from a damaged or defective sense of self, coupled with problems of impulse regulation and defensive operations. Predominant in the psychology of most obsessed patients is their tie with an Other, a self-object - in this case the evolutionary differences of a minute-sized font used on the dial of a Rolex wristwatch - that helps to stabilize favorable aspects of the patient's unstable self-image. Clinical examples are well documented, and issues of therapeutic alliance, gradual psychodynamic exploration, potential decompensation and violence, and countertransference are all frequently observed in the clinical setting.

Errr, who said anything about $165 ?! Both dealers (K and J) price it at a lot more - around $285 with shipping.

Amen to that Almost picked up the (far superior aesthetically IMO) gen limited ed Mk I SLR last Christmas when I got my c.36 Monza. Wish I'd got both now. Joshua confirmed to me that the rep SS bracelet (below, left) is coming soon, but doesn't know for sure if they'll do the Mk I (below, right) - says they might but not sure when. I plan to keep nagging on this as it's such a simple tweak - both the same case, same bezel (slightly different finishing - Mk is black paint-filled SS not coated like Mk II), same clasp, same movt, just a different dial. Either do it on a crappy croc rep leather strap or supply the SS or rubber of the mk II. I would probably get the gen leather strap anyway, expensive but superb quality. Price difference between this and other models with same movt (Blackbird) is noticeably/suspiciously different, but think it is down to marketing rather than using the old 21.6bph movt.

Me too brother, me too Interestingly I first 'fell' for this model way back last October, when after trying on a 1665 and 1655 at a well-known vintage dealers, he gave a wry smile and asked had I seen 'it' yet. I kind of snorted as my purist love of the 1675 knew no limits. "Wait" he said, "I know what you mean, but just see.....". Out it came, and like him, I was sold. This watch will turn even the most ardent vintage nut 'gay for modern Rolex'. Mine is here any day now.
-
A very good point my man Although I was looking at it from the angle of....if you're buying the asian movt variant and planning a heart transplant, then you're going to need to spring for the ETA hands too, which will most likely set you back said 20 clams from a dealer, which eats into the price difference.

I think we're all agreed on this - always good to have a consensus. Since someone is going to get burned, I've reported it.
