  1. Delta, glad to see you bagged one in the end, only too happy to help advise. Congrats, normally the cynic in me would say it's been refinished but that dial - my god the thing is minty fresh almost NOS condition. '69-'71 serial (?). I now have my own desired 1675 in my sights, just playing a waiting game, softly softly catchy monkey . And my lovely GF has promised to fund as a thank you gift, awwww p.s. Euno is definitely on Santa's list this year
  2. Maybe so but since it is neither true or warranted for you to lay that at my door, please do not direct that at me.
  3. It was indeed BT, nothing malicious, maybe I should have posted a " " I already offered the hand of friendship, as one Monza fan to another, but clearly our friend is having a bad day, oh well....
  4. Suggestion 1. How about subjecting any new potential modders to standard tests according to the 'services' they offer? I'm sure we could get hold off test parts (dials, movements, cases etc) to administer this. There's also enough talent here in terms of appraising such work. I recall one modder saying they'd destroyed about 60 or 70 ________s in getting it right As Rob says, it should not be left to others to clean up the mess left behind by these hackers. Suggestion 2. An open and transparent pricing policy - published in full - would also help prevent charges for "blowing dust off dial" and "realigning crystal" and suchlike.
  5. Well FYI, I have been a Supporter for a looooong long time, much longer than you've been a member here in fact . My membership subscription only expired a few weeks ago and due to some renewal issues (both Paypal and *cough* other related concerns), it's not been actioned as yet. No doubt Don Tomaso and I will speak on his return. Even so, don't confuse 'Supporter' status with donations. So thanks for the offer but not required
  6. So am I, so am I...! The TF and Monza are gorgeous dress watches - both 70-80 year-old designs too I knew you'd show up with that beauty soon enough - an anniversary gift from Mrs Section8 wasn't it? Lovely. A friend of mine still has his (like yours the Fangio LE), and I keep chipping away at him - he'll crack soon enough, mwahahaha.......
  7. Hey, what do I know, as you said, you've been "researching for months".....
  8. I WAS friendly and helpful, see? Merely encouraging you to do a little research. Instant gratification is not as satisfying doing something yourself with a little nudge in the right direction Although sadly seems to be the norm here these days *sigh* Unfortunately, instead your questioning came across as a little rude and obtuse making some comment suggesting I was using two different watches? And then something about pushers being off? No harm done, I'm sure you didn't mean to be rude. You've seen enough of the standard gen Monza's clearly and like the model, so for that alone, having good taste, I'll spill - this is the 'flagship' calibre 36 Monza with the gorgeous and legendary (Zenith) El Primero movement.
  9. No worries Rico, the dial won't be skeletonised in the production model.
  10. By-Tor, can you play 'teacher'? I think I've just lost the will to live
  11. Tsk tsk....you tell me Here's the caseback - may give you a clue about this particular model edit: lumberjack shirt in pic is NOT mine ....previous owner
  12. If it was anything but a white dial, I'd say stick to black, but a dark brown strap would look great on this - calf or croc. I think Pugs (Pugwash) has this on something brown, not 100% definite though, Andreww will though definitely. Sounds like you already have a strap in mind, but if not you could do worse than check out BOB straps for Breitling (www.waccex.de) - amazing quality for the price. He also has a sales area here.
  13. Well that's Rolex for you, rarely any rhyme or reason though. The 2007 gen model also seems to have reverted back to 'fix' one of the most complained about flaws of the rep - namely the bold red YM dial text. 2006 and prior... 2007...
  14. "Interesting" knitwear D As for me, well time to get the old girl out, an old old favourite......
  15. It's not merely cosmetic Ken, the SNR allows for fine adjustments to be made to the regulation/timing of the movement.
  16. Angus, This is a VERY accurate looking Yachtie. Can't add much more to BT - U-shaped CGs, dial etc. all look spot on. YM text looks a little less bloody that it should but I put that washed out look down to the photo and lighting. Easy ways to check some of the most obvious tells.....the platinum bits. Pt (not you PT ) is 3x heavier than gold, and the heft of the YM watch head is very noticeable in the gen. The two Pt parts, the insert and dial are relatively easy to spot if they're not gen. A fairly inexpensive acid test kit and some knowledge will tell you whether this is real platinum, plated or not. I suspect we're talking rhodium plating only not platinum. The gen dial is also marked up accordingly (I have pics) but assuming this new rep is just a standard better printed dial anyway? To be honest, I can't see the value in this private project unless you're putting 2892s in that case. A c.3135 would make the piece way too expensive. I also don't see how this OEM factory (which stands up to scrutiny given the quality of this case) would risk doing this though, as even without serial engravings, the dial alone bypasses any inteleectual property/generic case disclaimer - unless the bits shipped out separately via the back door a la the Hublot ceramic bezel saga. Whatever, an interesting and exciting development and I'm sure we all look forward to hearing more
  17. Stagfan - PLEASE post the details or pics of what you're thinking over. I and many others would like to see them. Sure there are different opinions out there but there's no right or wrong per se. You may even get some great strap suggestions, whose where how much etc. I for one have just got myself a black-dialled new dress watch which I plan on sporting with a gorgeous brown croc strap on deployant. I'll share if you do
  18. Firstly I agree on those Paypal posts - yet they are the very same ones that instead of being ignored and dropping off the radar get bumped unnecessarily by do-gooders trying to make out they're some type of fixer with the ear of the dealer in question. But back to you....I apologise about the ex-hooligan jibe - unwarranted. Still you must agree Chelsea fans of your ilk were notorious for being certain types - god knows nobody ever went to the Bridge to actually watch football in the 70s and 80s. More like going along for the 'afters'. As for being an ex-player - well that explains a lot judging by your lack of objectivity and insight, not to mention your trolling/crapping on every football thread and your inability to leave out the bigoted insults towards me. Not much different from the Andy Gray's and Townsend's of this world and various other media, except they get paid for it. You put a huge dampener on those CL threads you know that? Until you showed up, they were a good craic, Ape, Edgey, JTB, Admin, Rico, Offshore, even Ken and many others all having some good banter from different sides - but you went OTT and cleared the place out. Well done. Businessman, I daren't ask. Property I'd guess. You have that manner. Gucci-wearing? Is that really the way the best adjective you feel you need to describe yourself??? Makes sense. I'd have said Costa del Sol, but thought it far too obvious and stereotypical as in ex-con Brits a la Sexy Beast - granted you too much credit obviously. I just remembered our Valencia chat that's all, one I mistakenly took at the time for signs of someone genial, interesting and knowledgeable...that is until you reverted to type. Don't worry though, I'll happily "get off Vick's back" - in fact I've already offered an olive branch re. putting together the Noob Guide she's suggested. But that has nothing to do with you Emmzy, so don't treat it as such. You and I - let's just agree to disagree on everything, and walk on along separate paths. Agreed? (that's rhetorical, by the way)
  19. What an utter load of tripe. Drama-queen. You cut off some new member who made a polite enquiry on strap matching shoes, and I merely tongue-in-cheek pointed out to him that such an unswerving opinion should be ignored or at least taken in the context of you owning (and posting about) a Fiddy on a pink gator strap If you think that is an 'attack' then I truly pity you - there is a real world out there, try it some time. Talking of not letting things go and having a fixation, why don't you post that utterly creepy video you uploaded and then quickly deleted in embarrassment - you know the one with the elf music and your actions that made Pugs feel VERY uncomfortable. No? I thought not. Right then back OT!!!!! FWIW I don't have a problem with this thread per se. If someone's happy to spend their time compiling a compendium/wiki for the noobs, the go right ahead. Not for many of us accepted, but a worthy endeavour nonetheless, as long as the content is fully referenced and not passed off as their own work. Tell you what Victoria, and I say this in sincerity and an attempt to heal any bitterness you obviously feel.....since you suggested this idea in the first place, why not step up to the plate and take this upon you to put together. Take some time out, make it happen and then let the naysayers judge. I for one would acknowledge the effort and contribution.
  20. Hmmm, I seem to be able to switch her easily one way then the other at will - she flips at the 6 o clock position. Explains my ambidexterity I guess.
  21. Fair enough Ken, no more from me after this - you got the PM then If you read with a little objectivity, you'll notice I was just referring to the uncharacteristic abrupt and definitive answer given and made a fact-based comment about that answer and how it disqualified such opinion (a pink-gator'd Fiddy is evidence of dubious taste), I then asked the OP to post a pic of his desired combo. My earlier post in this thread was also positive and helpful. VB - don't flatter yourself, I just find it hard to stomach you presenting your opinions, wrapped up as they are in some sort of official 'I know it all' tone. It's boring and unnecessary. And also in this case, not very helpful, especially to a relative 'Newbie" one of those same members your signature implores to contact you on about anything regarding the forum or purchases. Emmzy - talking of boring - I think you're confusing 'chivalry' with your sycophancy and thinly-disguised Al Murray-esque misogyny - "a white wine for the lady......" Also, please refrain from making persistent personal and unnecessary comments about Liverpool - I stopped rising to your childish bait on that subject a long time ago - it's not the first time you speak from ignorance and bitterness - until now I have never reciprocated as I might about an ex-hooligan, sangria-swilling, Costa Blanca-exiled Chav. To Stagfan - apologies for this all over your thread, just some unpleasant internal politics, there'll be no more - as I and others said, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with wearing a brown strap watch with black shoes - anyone who says otherwise is being ridiculous, so please bring this back on-topic by posting a pic or description of what you plan on matching up
  22. Now Rico, that's no way to talk to the Silixian Ambassador to RWG (self-appointed or not)
  23. My, what a definitive answer from the red-taloned owner of a pink-gator-strapped Fiddy and various other monstrosities....and please don't waste our time Googling Debrett's, it's really not necessary. @Stagfan - why not post a pic of the actual watch and strap you plan on matching up - easier to assess that way. But nothing wrong with a nice dark brown croc on a black dial dress watch, worn with a well-cut dark suit and black shoes.
