  1. You know that's strange, I've just checked now and you're right, the website does say 'domed sapphire' (as well as AR, hmmm). However, I KNOW I've read it somewhere, either in the Omega catalogue and 50th Anniv literature I was sent recently, or maybe one of the scathing horology press reviews of the model (a pathetic attempt and missed opportunity by Omega to celebrate the iconic Speedy, is the general consensus). Admittedly I didn't see the two side by side (the logo version was sold within a day or two) but I could have sworn it had a flat sapphire crystal. I have the domed acrylic classic Speedy and I know the difference. Maybe the dome is far less prominent in sapphire than acrylic. I have a warped sense of domeness anyway as I still find myself gawping at my T39 superdome some two or three years later. Now THAT'S a domed crystal, more 44DD to the Speedy's 36B Ah well, as we all know, website specs can be like prototype pics, in that they sometimes change prior to production. Ken, would be interesting to see a macro of the SM and retro red logo, a la the official marketing pic - are you able to oblige?
  2. Stating the obvious BT? Or is that a sly dig, some code or inference you're making about Pug's preferences??? Not that I'm stirring of course....ho hum, slow day
  3. Pug is that a BOB on that white dial Navi? Sorry, no watches to show but negotiating the transfer of ownership on an old factory Ti Chrono Avenger. After that it will be a choice between the Blackbird or the forthcoming PVD Skyland. Now worries fellas, just leave it to me to exhume this thread from the graveyard in two months time
  4. Take the number of states in your country, multiply by four, then double it before subtracting the price of a gallon of petrol
  5. Well maybe my 20-20 detail-trained eyesight isn't as good as I think it is, because looking at the gen, I just cannot see the subdial spacing issue you mean The gen uses ETA 2894-2 right? Same spacing as this bastardized 7750. Sure the subdials look a little smaller on the rep pics because of the lighting and disapppearing recessed borders, that's all IMO. Also can't see a hint of assymetry on the gen chrono pusher, and I've used the 360-tool on the Breit website to look at various angles. Am I missing something Archi? Only glaring fault (pearl QC aside) I can actually see is the caseback markings, an obvious tell if it's off your wrist.
  6. Not true. Your rep is more accurate than you think, as the gen SM logo'd Anniv model also has a flat sapphire crystal. The other far less obvious Anniv model (serial no. on dial text) however, has the classic domed hesalite crystal. Seen both in person and Omega specs also confirm. Nice write-up Ken BTW p.s. Raymond - the watch didn't go ENTIRELY unnoticed by our community http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...80&hl=Anniv
  7. Posted this last year - my genuine rubber strap. May help since we're talking imperial wrist size Basically 5" and 3" effective length.
  8. Me too patience my friend, patience. Wasn't aware of The Zigmeister's secs@3 teardown, but subtract from that the big date and chrono function all rolled into an asian 7750 and it all equals "paperweight" in my opinion Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but having had an asian 7750 daydate crap out on me just this week, I feel inclined to listen to my gut on this one. And my gut is saying, "NOOOoooooooo" Still having seen the gen in AD window, I can confirm it is a thing of beauty, not a word to describe, nearest is that lightning bolt 'zing' thing in the post ratings. However it is on that nasty multi-links bracelet, so nice to see rep makers showing more taste and supplying on black leather deployant. *edit* oh and the gen had a tasty price tag too, not much change from FOUR GRAND......yes that's
  9. Yes, but ignored it because I thought the inner bezel rotates independently of the hour markers? Hard to tell alignment sometimes from angles.
  10. That's it a nutshell Pug, the first was ground-breaking, the next two merely formulaic. Franke Potente, agree, great actress, with her dead, Bourne goes back to his monosyllabic wooden poker-faced blankness (i.e. perfect role for Damon ) p.s. you will no doubt just to see, but despite all the reviews, don't expect too much - oh and hopefully I didn't reveal any spoilers?
  11. Actually these days, the rep makers just go out and buy a gen to work from
  12. Hmm, not a IWC aficionado by any means but I like to think I have an eye for detail, and I'm confused about that inner bezel ring between 0-15 Original (postponed/cancelled?) prototype pics showed no border just black band... Now we have Trusty's available model pics showing thick orange border between 0-15... Then to confuse things further we have IWC's official pic with a very fine orange border... And just to make things EVEN more fun, here's a pic of a gen 'real life' CD, note the 'midweight' border halfway between Trusty's and IWC pics... Confused??? I am.
  13. They ARE recessed accurately, can see in one of Joshua's side-on pics (top row middle). Just lighting and usual post-production tampering
  14. I originally thought so, but on reflection I'm not so sure. Sure large (mainly Moscow) parts of Supremacy were a mess (also took a while to get used to Greengrass' migraine-inducing handheld style) but at least it had pace which varied, allowing you to take in a bit more than the the action sets. Back story was also done well even the strangely moving ending. Ultimatum was great for the first 15 mins or so, the Waterloo Station sequence I loved (very familiar ) but then it just took off like the old crappy Bond films dot to dot on the world map with one action sequence after another, without pausing for breath. Annoying quirks (why didn't the Algerian assassin quickly finish an unconscious Bourne off after the car bomb, instead of walking away from a few police sirens and going after the girl first??? ). Recruitment back story didn't really go anywhere. WHY did he volunteer? Also, no strong baddies to boo and hiss - where was the Chris Coleman, or Brian Cox types? Great characters. That slimy grey-haired accountant-type director who got a weedy shot off at the end? Like being savaged by a wet fish. And anyway, just how did JB get into his secure office past all the glass cubicles full of his colleagues? Even the fellow assassin standoff dialogue was done SOOooooo much better in Identity with Clive Owen scene-stealing. Bourne even used his line right at the end. Didn't sound anywhere near as convincing. But then Owen is by far the better actor. Hence, VERY disappointing
  15. Eeuuw, not the "Bourne watch"?!!! Lean mean tortured killing machine he may be but when it comes to style (clothes, vehicles, weapons, watches), Bond is without peer. Ok then putting my helpful hat on, the fairly ugly quartz chrono (sported by Bourne, now discontinued) you're looking for is the Link Chrono CT1111.BA0550 Not sure about rep availability (can't say I've ever seen it with Joshua or any other dealer), but gen can be picked up for about €600 p.s. for the record, I thought Identity was superb, Supremacy so-so, and Ultimatum very disappointing.
  16. Indeed. Have no experience with the "Big Duo Date Perpetually Driven Date" but replicating ETA 2894-type functions using the 7750 with running seconds at 3???
  17. Of course you could just spend $650 and buy a genuine non-69er http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=47289
  18. First the old factory TCA may be making its way to me, then the news of the PVD Skyland going into production, and now THIS!!! And to think I used to yawn instinctively whenever anyone mentioned Breitlings... A quick and dirty comparison-with-gen pic...
  19. Great way to build up to the event Pug, only wish I had the time. Caught the original the other week, surprised how well it held up and 'classic' it looked although it should be remembered it won Best Picture Oscar in '76 beating no less a film than Taxi Driver even if that decision was a little suspect. III is a treat, really sad, and I could never watch the A-Team again in the same way IV a great film, will have future students debating it a la Shakespeare based on it's wonderfully simple Good vs Evil, Cold War theme V - didn't see it, didn't miss much by all accounts Balboa - not seen it yet, but soon I hope. p.s. The GMT is on a Jubilee, Pug, it's the ladies DJ that is on a Pres
  20. Apologies, talking pish here (one of those days) had my own 7750 DWs out last night - indeed unlike the majority of ETA DWs the double digit numeral '1's are without serifs. Strange but true! Hopefully will have an old factory TiCA on its way to me soon, so looking forward to Lello's DW project.
  21. Quite, got a pic of it flipped? OK my opinion then.... + Build quality looks good + Dial looks ok - Red second hand screams "NOOooooooooo" - Rubber strap - see line above But then, it's not a REAL Monaco unless it is a chrono *mutters something about modern abominations and urinating on the heritage of Heuer etc.*
  22. Gotcha but that again speaks to my comment about the pressure from patients expecting answers. Unfortunately the general type of clinicians facing this scenario are not those best equipped either intellectually or socially to handle it appropriately
  23. I'm not in the US, so I can only speak from a European perspective. But I don't doubt mistakes happen a lot, just not tabloid-friendly legs being hacked off all the time Not according to the WHO Happy to debate another time when you're feeling less raw, just glad you and your family have some good news.
  24. You did absolutely the right thing by seeking expert advice. I'm not denying shi t happens, indeed I've see a lot of it, both professionally and personally. I've even given evidence condemning an incompetent senior colleague who botched a routine procedure (with fatal consequences), not something I'd wish to relive. I hear about these "wrong leg" stories but I just can't accept they are in any way commonplace. First thing the lead orthopaedic/trauma/vascular surgeon does in pre-op is mark the affected limb. If there's visibily no sign of any difference, then the notes are checked and confirmed by more than one person. So to imagine, wrong legs being hacked off all over the place is hard to believe. Pugs - you can't say that, because you're basing your assumption on isolated, unrelated and statistically insignificant cases involving friends and colleagues, and possibly reading the Guardian/Daily Mail too much Not statistically insignificant to the people affected of course, but equally you can't blow it up and say "they're all a bunch of quacks". Negligence by NHS staff is on the rise I agree, but there are other bureaucratic and political factors that are responsible for that (and I'm not talking about "the system" per se). I won't elaborate further apart from to say it's one of the reasons I got out as did many of my talented peers. And that exodus itself made things ten time worse.
