  1. Aside from different bezel sizes, these inserts are completely different designs, GMT and SeaDweller, so you're not making much sense. Do you mean 1665 and 1680 Sub? In which case it depends on your aftermarket source, but generally yes, same insert size.
  2. ...as has the Tag Heuer Calibre S which in either Aquaracer or Link outfit, is an infinitely more stylish and practical Regatta timepiece than this Rolex monstrosity.
  3. Because it looks like it has been designed by a blind octopus with a nasty case of the DTs, that's why.
  4. This type of dial was used in both 1675 and 6542 around the mid '60s. I hate to say it but it's a really bad redial and will need more than a clean-up. If you've not bought it already, then save your money.
  5. Not sure what you mean exactly - pics perhaps? Only thing I remember was r11co used talc to give his rep strap more anti-static properties and improve matt finish so you could try that. My gen rubber strap looks as good as the day I first strapped it to my UPO some ten months ago. Same matt finish. Give it a light soapy bath every couple of months or so but that's it. A VERY faint mark where the buckle sits but that's all. As I said good as new.
  6. Safe queen! Nice freebie Pugs, not sure about the SS or white dial personally but still... For me the race is now on, which will come my way first? Old factory Ti Avenger or forthcoming PVD Skyland Avenger?
  7. Actually Triplock is accurate/realistic for just that reason. All SRSDs (a prototype available only to a selected few) were recalled to the RSCs every few months or so for upgrades during this assessment period. A triplock crown/tube assembly would have been installed without fail in the late 60s/early 70s prior to the release of the DRSD - as you say yourself, Trips were in experimental use earlier, and the 1665 was the actual testbed model that drove the development of them in the firstplace. I don't believe there is a SRSD in existence that is in original twinlock spec. Regardless, aside from "accuracy to original" (a somewhat redundant notion on a prototype model), the Triplock confers much greater protection on such a rare and valuable watch so it would have been done at some point anyway.
  8. As Phantom says, the SRSD is not really believable but significanlty less so if it's not in a 1680 case (not the all-round thicker 1665) with HeV and the PP caseback engraving. Triplock crown IS accurate though. Since it sounds like you're planning some hard core mods, and investing some hard core cash I'd take a look and search to see if you can find Saabin's SRSD or PM him since he's now back amongst us - he created a stunning prototype 1665 a couple of years back on old RWG.
  9. God that's ugly, a real dog's dinner The only HBB I like is THIS one...
  10. So just to clarify, is everyone highly stimulated again? No semblance of boredom whatsoever? Just checking
  11. Yes thanks Although a little also as it's a pity/sympathy 'star'.....ah well, never mind, beggars can't be choosers
  12. Nope. Sorry. Annoying. QC thing. Contact dealer? Good luck.
  13. Maybe try their website. Perhaps. Just a suggestion Not really the done thing to post email addresses.
  14. You and me both CY I expect super rep spec as this project is being pushed by a super rep dealer No credit for me, I just asked the question, got a positive response and have provided some specific details on request. Both SS and PVD models will be made almost certain. Agree with your concerns about the PVD but I like a matt finish on my CAs hence my desire for the old Ti version. SS just looks a little too shiney for such a utilitarian tool watch IMO. The gen Blacksteel won't be available until 2008, so assume they'll 1:1 a normal Skyland and copy the details of the BS from pics and detailed spec.
  15. On the drawing board so to speak, received green light, in process etc. I'm told. So would guess we're looking at late Sep maybe Oct, only a guesstimate mind you.
  16. Hmmm, from whom did you purchase it? And when? Can you post pics of your watch, caseback and dial etc.. Factory prototype pics dealers used didn't show serial/model nos. so obviously a last-minute production addition. Either way I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Unless you have the black dial, the serial isn't correct anyway.
  17. I meant a spacer for the stem alignment, thanks for confirming - also allows you to use DW as overlay without issues.
  18. So I get the "plague/bring out yer dead" red cross because I've had it the most, twice, equal with good idea??? Or is it because that was the last rating I received? Just for clarity Admin, not that I'm on a vengeful witchunt for those SOWs who dared give me the red stamp of shame...
  19. Hmm just noticed these....probably because I have a big red cross because two people disagreed with my Vintage Parts Madness post, one of whom I believe out of petty spite because of some disagreement over his dodgy selling practices But I like it in principle, apart from the fact that because it appears next to every post you make thereafter (rather than contained within a particular thread), it feels a little like I've been branded I've had the odd "informative" and "thanks" here and there but I don't see them plastered next to my name. Mwaaaaaa.....I wanna gold star
  20. I'd appreciate it if you could provide a source for that for reference sake.
  21. Flawed how exactly? The PVD coating is crappy? Too dark? Not dark enough? Prone to damage?
