  1. A man with a knife, chain saw or baseball bat still has be be a faster runner than you. Or at the least, you have to be faster than the other guy next to you. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.
  2. I love that graph posted above with firearm homicides at the bottom of the list. I just read in the paper that all gun deaths, both accidental and purposeful, just surpassed deaths from motor vehicle accidents in the US this year. VERY selective use of propoganda to compare accidental auto deaths to intentional gun deaths.
  3. Only problem with that theory, Joey, is that no one including our Continental Army did it without the help of another foreign power. We would still be a British Colony if the French didn't supply heavy arms and training. Same in every other insurgency from Viet Nam to the current Syrian revolution. None of those people did squat with the small arms owned by civilians. A more equivalent scenerio would be Al Quaeda or the Taliban, both of which have been crushed and defeated. They may return as we leave but as a war it wasn't much of a fight. Even Iraq's mighty war machine only lasted what, somehthing like 7 days, and we were fighting a war thousands of miles away on the other side of the world. And weren't they like the 4th largest standing army in the world. Edit: In almost all civil conflicts, for instance sub Saharan Africa, Most small arms in the hands of militias are used to murder and terrorize the civilian population, whether it be for religous or other sectarian conflicts.
  4. Gen insert is awful expensive at $400+. Second best, and at least in my opinion, is the WM9. They nailed the color of the latest gen inserts. A WM9 with a WatchMaterial pearl is about the only decent LV insert I've seen. All the eBay ones I've tried are too dark and don't have the emerald sparkle. They're pretty hard to find, though.
  5. if you can get the crown and stem out without gumming up the movement, it shouldn't be a problem. Use an EZ Out screw extractor to get the rest of the tube out.
  6. Citizen's owning guns to keep our Government in check is the funniest part of this thread. I can just see a bunch of fools with AR-15's fighting against a well trained army with tanks, armored personell carriers, aircraft, drones, submmarines and nuclear missiles. Good luck with that one. Red Dawn was just a movie, not real life.
  7. OK, I'll start. I'm also a law abiding gun owner, in fact I own several hunting rifles and shotguns. I'm also a firm believer in getting rid of all military type, assault rifle type, and all clips or magazines that hold over 5 bullets. And I don't buy the theory that the gun lobby perpetuates, that a semi automatic hunting rifle is the same thing as a semi automatic assault rifle. One is designed and bought for hunting animals, the other is designed and bought for killing people. Also, I'd love to live in Australia, with or without my guns. OK, Next.

  9. 10 atmoshperes of pressure is a lot. 10 feet is nothing.
  10. I've been thinking about re-dialing my ETA powered one. Are the ETA handsets the same as the DW Asian ones? Any opinions on the new Albino or Silver albino dials?
  11. They're pricey: http://www.ebay.com/itm/REAL-GOLD-18K-BEZEL-INSERT-FOR-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-16800-16613-/170703652024?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bebb04b8
  12. Congrats! Maybe you'll have a Christmas baby.

    DG 3408 DWO

It doesn't matter which movement since it's going to be glued over the existing DWO anyway. It doesn't actually "fit" on either movement. The DG 3408 is the more reliable of the two, even if it is cheaper. The main difference is that it's low beat and the 2836-2 is high beat and more importantly it's actually designed and manufactured as a GMT movement.
  14. Get a magnifier and look closely at the hairspring. You may find it tangled over itself and very gently untangle. Sometimes a good whack into your palm a couple times will untangle it if that's the problem.
  15. I'm pretty sure I've seen aftermarket gold bezels at either Clarks, Raffle-Time, WSO or one of those regular aftermarket parts sellers. The bracelet's going to be the hardest part. Lot's of people have been looking lately and not finding. Of course you could put it on a TT Jubliee until a good one comes up.

  17. I've got a gen stuck in NYC ISC since October 16th.
  18. I guess molting season is over. You've been gone a long time.
  19. I've sent my chrono's to George (14060 or 10660) with very good results and also Speedy G with good results. Speedy did have to work on one of them a couple of times to get the minor bugs worked out. He did fix it the second time for free under warrantee with no hassle. I'm not sure I'd agree that a $150 Asian movement is just as good as a $400 Swiss movement. They may be considered good for the money once serviced but I really doubt they are equivalent in quality. Just my opinion, of course.
  20. It must be possible since I have one. Bought it from a member here several years ago.
  21. I put a gen insert in my SSD. To be honest I don't remember if I ever had the bezel off, but I do remember that the gen bezel insert snapped in just like a gen. No glue and no chance of it ever coming loose. Alligoat> I assume you must be a contractor, looking at that last picture.
  22. Way to go Woof. I remember the first time myself. Now I've got a Timegrapher and time all my watches.
  23. Here's a movement with the original date wheel attached (the numbers have been sanded off). You can see the dots of glue. The 2nd pic is with the overlay installed. You install it, then put on the dial and check the location of the numbers, go around the dial and make sure they are all lined up, and you're done.
