I'm personally kind of tired of that dial. I'm having it changed out right now.
-
I say first picture gen, the rest aren't the same watch.

HELP! Is the bezel on my Submariner supposed to be like this?
kbh replied to TimeToPretend's topic in General Discussion
You think maybe the bottom of the pearl is holding it out? That pearl kind of looks like one off a ceramic insert. -
Many women died years ago from years of using tritium lume. "Before they used tritium they used radium and it was painted directly onto the dials. This still wasn't a problem for the wearer of the watch but for the people who applied it in the factories ( mostly young women) there were many deaths. They used to lick the brushes to make a fine point and this lead to cancer and death."

I have no idea what the price is......... Just from previous quote.
-
I've been hearing that for the last 5 years and they are stilll readily available. I'll believe that when it actaully happens. No offense to TC but $130 for a Asian clone movement isn't going to be the beginning of a new ball game in the watch industry.
-
You're assuming that the Swiss watch makers have been standing still for the last twenty years since bringing out the 28xx series and will be standing still for the next 20. In the next 5 years the Chinese factories may have perfected the 28xx clones to the same level as the Swiss are now.

Not in our lifetime.
-
Well. it would certainly help if we knew what kind of watch or bracelet you were talking about.

That's an SSD I believe. They do look woky in pictures but pretty close to gen in real life. When I compared mine side by side from a Tourneau window I really couldn't see any difference. Just needs a gen insert and pearl.

I think the standard hands would be fine. From taking a quick measurement it appears that the GMTIIC has roughly the same size dial and the hands look normal on that. Also they are readily available for a 2893 including the GMT hand if you were inclined to change them all.

As I previously said, you have to take the autowind module off to get to the 3 screw heads.
-
Seems to me that you need to take the whole autowind assembly off and get those rotors lose from the inside. It's been a while since I've done one.

This is so pathetic that it's funny. And on "Gun Appreciation Day" no less: Gun Show Shootings: At Least 5 Hurt In Accidental Incidents In Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina MEDINA, Ohio — Accidental shootings at gun shows in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio left five people injured Saturday, the same day that thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter firearm limits. At the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, a 12-gauge shotgun discharged as its owner unzipped its case for a law enforcement officer to check at a security entrance, injuring three people, state Agriculture Department spokesman Brian Long said. Two bystanders were hit by shotgun pellets and taken to a hospital. A retired deputy sheriff suffered a slight hand injury. The shotgun's owner, 36-year-old Gary Lynn Wilson, brought the weapon to the show to find a private buyer, Long said. Sheriff Donnie Harrison said that it was too early to know whether Wilson might be charged but that it appeared to be an accident. The North Carolina show, which is held at the state fairgrounds, is a quarterly event that usually draws thousands of people. The two-day show shut down early Saturday but will reopen Sunday. In Indianapolis, police said a 54-year-old man was injured when he inadvertently shot himself while leaving a gun show. Emory L. Cozee was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic when he shot himself in the hand as he was leaving the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show at the state fairgrounds, state police said. Loaded personal weapons aren't allowed inside the show. Cozee, of Indianapolis, was hospitalized for treatment. Police say the shooting was accidental and no charges will be filed. And in Ohio, a gun dealer in Medina was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he had bought Saturday when he accidentally pulled the trigger, injuring his friend, police said. The gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm, but one round remained in the chamber, police said. Police Chief Pat Berarducci said it appears the bullet ricocheted off the floor and struck the friend in the arm and leg. The man was taken by helicopter to a hospital 30 miles north in Cleveland, Berarducci said. His condition wasn't immediately known. The gun rallies held Saturday coincide with President Barack Obama's unveiling of a sweeping package of federal gun-control proposals in the wake of a Connecticut elementary school shooting that killed 20 first-graders and six educators last month.

Good link Woof. I can see your point but in reality there's really nothing in that study showing or proving a causal link between US gun buying habits and the crime rate falling. New cars go faster but does that mean the average spped on our highways should be going up? In those particular years it could be anytthing from the very good economy at the time to any number of other socio-economic happenings. As far as the statistics show it could have just as easily been a coincidence. Kind of the same as what your side (assuming you're a Republican) continually say about climate change, that it's just a statistical aberration. I posted several pages back an article about Australia and how gun violence had decreased dramatically and there hasn't been one mass shooting in Australia since they banned assault rifles there. Those statistics are just as valid as yours yet seem to completely contradict yours. And Mike - I'm not sure what you mean about being on "their" side. Who is "their". Are you saying that the admins or mods here are stifling your free speech and only letting those who agree with them get their say? And JoeyB - I agree with you completely. but in the world where I live gun violence is much more prevalent with young blacks than it is in the gated communities. Any cop from Riviear Beach, Delray Beach or West Palm Beach will agree with me. That's where a majority of illegal guns are found and a majority of handgun shootings occur. That's just a fact. You can accept it or reject it as you please.

I love how people love to use this line of thinking but never actually point us to a link or article or actual statistics. And you heard this where? Faux News, Rush Limbaugh? Did you actually look this up yourself? "SHOW ME THE MONEY"
-
That's why I said "ghetto fathers", and not "member of the black community". Don't kid yourself. We all know who I''m talking about and hopefully we all know the difference. Trust me when I say, there's not the least bit of racism in me or my thinking.
-
So who's going to teach the parents to be parents. Who's going to teach the ghetto fathers that a child is a responsibility? And the ghetto mother that being a "baby momma" to 3 or 4 different fathers is not cool. The idea's good, it's the implementation that tough. And the kids that see daddy carrying a concealed weapon.....what are they learning?

As previously mentioned, there were two armed officers at Columbine and it didn't stop them for a moment.

I wonder why is it that most of the true believers in unrestricted gun ownersip live in rural areas where crime is much less prevalent and yet they all have an absolute craving for keeping firearms handy, yet most a the large cities that have much more crime also have a much larger percentage of people who favor gun control? Seems rather confusing, and no, I don't believe the amount of crime is relative to the number of gun owners. I understand that rural areas breed self sufficiency and most rural citizens are hunters, but we're really only discussing assault rifles which were almost unheard of in the hands of most gun owners until 15 or 20 years ago when they became the gun of choice for the drug cartels and inner city gangs. Now, it seems like for everyone who is into guns, these have become a "must have" item.

It's a very good way to screw up a 7750 movement if you go backwards over the time change. I don't think it would hurt and ETA 28xx series. If you're just talking about going back a few hours and not near midnight it won't hurt anything?
-
DW's pusher are offset like the gen.
-
It's mostly because it's one of the most reliable chrono movements and it's a hand wind lust like the original, therefore thinner than the 7750s. I don't know if it'a any closer to gen reference the sub dials than a 7750 but you can't fit a 7750 into a gen size case without taking off the rotor.
-
It's a non-working sec@6 because that's the type of movement it is. That particular movement only has working hands at 3 and 9. The good thing is the counter at 6 is the hour counter which very seldom would ever be used even in real life.
