Going to Paris & London for a couple of weeks.
Pugwash replied to gioarmani's topic in The looney bin
In Paris, I would recommend going to one of the Grec shops. It's not at all what you think of when you have Paris cuisine, but it's top stuff. It's very much the antithesis of Parisian Cuisine, but I love them so ... Ask for one with mayonnaise and Harissa (stupidly hot chilli paste/sauce) if your pallet stretches to the spicy. Just order a Grec-frites (kebab and fries) and enjoy! Also, you could go to a Lebanese restaurant or head down to the Marais for some decent Jewish falafel. -
Let me clarify ... The RWI server is running perfectly, but the computers used to find where it is were not working. Now they are once again working, it may take some time for your computer and all the other computers you use between here and there get the message all is well. Patience is the key. DNS disruptions can have up to a 24-hour aftershock.

You missed HK45's attempt to use the thread for his own political gain. I mean it takes a driven man to use this thread into proof of The Zigmeister's alleged conspiracy against all other modders. Maybe there's hope for my second-hand pitchfork shares yet. Get him, lads!

Did you miss something? Seriously, you're representing RWI in a poor light with your behaviour.

Does anyone know who makes the best Submariner for a great price?
Pugwash replied to jeff212's topic in The Rolex Area
Simple. The Noobmariner, as sold by TTK and others, has by far the best dial. If that's your main concern, you have a winner. However, it's never as simple as that. -
Which is the better Sub? Silix or Trusty?
Pugwash replied to The Mentalist's topic in The Rolex Area
How about sharing this info so other noobs can use it? -
It's a competitive world.

Is it the Valgranges chrono or the 2894?

Amazingly, I don't have a shot in the rubber strap.

Like my Panasonic Lumix FZ20. If I have enough light, it's an absolutely amazing camera. I still rate the Lumix as the best non-SLR, as long as you stay in low ISO settings and have enough light. I will get a Canon SLR at some point, but until then, I'll be happy with my Leica-lensed Panasonic.

Buy (or download if that's your thing) the DVDs as they show the episodes in the right order.

Firefly is my favourite TV show of all time. It's one of those shows that just works for some people. While it's not absolutely necessary to watch Firefly first, I would recommend it as the payoff in Serenity is bigger and apparently incidental stuff matters more. There is a plot arc. If you've not seen Firefly, I would recommend you do so. If you're not completely hooked by episode 3 or 4, I'll be very surprised. Its cancellation was one of those "what were they thinking?" moments. So, yeah, you don't need to watch Firefly first (it was written so you could watch it without having seen Firefly) but it's better if you do. And yes, I rate the film very highly too. "Miranda ..."

I don't use the magic rubber. I primarily use the clone tool and blur/noise. Here's some examples of Photoshop: and a before/after:

New Daytona with secs@6 will be available

Or alternate brass/steel cogs. -
I never use Photoshop. Apart from on every wallpaper shot I've ever done. http://jearle.free.fr/images/article/photoshop/photoshop.mov

If I had an f1.2 lens, I'd use it. I love depth of field effects. Eddie Lee, for instance, uses very low f-stops on his pictures whereas TTK just shows off with his talent and f32.

And this coming from two people that have lived (or are living) in Paris, supposedly one of the most movie-friendly cities in the world.

Yeah, but buy AAPL now. If I had cash, I would.

I would rather watch a film at home as I've had a few films ruined by one or two of that 200. Imagine being a Firefly fan and waiting eagerly for Serenity to be released. Then imagine its release being ruined because some spacktard brings his stupid kids to a subtitled movie and has to explain what's going on to stop them being bored by a plot. Twunts. Or, like happened to me just last week when I went to see Tales from Earthsea, a Japanese animated movie, and was told it was subtitled, just like I wanted, only to find out it was dubbed. Yes, I got my money back, but my first viewing will always be associated with Timothy Dalton, instead of the original voices. My opinion of the cinema has declined over the last decade to the point that I am no longer a fan. I love movies, but I'd prefer to control the environment in which I enjoy them.

The white spot is the polarisation of the light. Lowest ISO possible, yes. As for higher f-stops for better clarity, sometimes you don't want more clarity. I shoot in either f8, f2.8 or somewhere in between. Compare the first (f2. pic with the second (f8). I'd choose f2.8 here so the background didn't interfere too much. However, the astute will notice I took both pictures and chose afterwards. f2.8 f8

A polarising filter is a godsend to a watch photographer. However, I've not used mine for months seeing as it's been mislaid in my house. The only time I've used a UV filter was as a lens protector. My polariser is a Hoya. See the white notch? That's important and you'll find out when you get it. If I find my filter in time, I'll write a tutorial for it.
