  1. Are you saying that there is an actual size (measurement) difference or is it a visual thing?
  2. Unfortunatley the crown is pretty visible at "6". At least mine is. I can notice it from a foot away if the light hits the glass right. But I also know to look for it too..
  3. On another note. i do recall one time going into an AD. I slipped my sub into my pocket and proceeded to try on a gen. Funny now that I think about it the gen had the same cheap bracelet feel and I don't recall it fitting or wearing larger. i guess it must be a preception thing.
  4. I totally agree Freddy, in fact I love the opportunity when it arises to test my knowledge out in the field I know it's not fair to claim it a gen or rep based on someone's appearance or age. In this instance I quickly abondoned that because it struck me how different it appeared on another person. That observation has happened a few times, which got me thinking that maybe rep and gen differences are more that just crown guards, rehault, etc. More of a size issue? But I agree outside of a shoddy rep, it is very hard for me to tell. But when you do see what looks to be a good one, I find myself always leaning towards the gen assumption.
  5. Thanks for that. I suppose your right it's a perception thing. Just funny how it's only rolex. I've seen gen Breitlings and they look right on par with mine. Maybe because with reps I've the luxury of changing watches often, different brands and sizes I've lost touch with how big they are or appear. Again I'm not getting into how accurate the Sub is. I would assume despite accuracy of detail, the overall size or presence would be somewhat consistant with gen or rep.
  6. Ok. So I was in Wal Mart over the past weekend, picking up some automotive items. I'm perusing the various waxes/cleaners and such and out of the corner of my eye I see what looks like a guy with a huge cigar hanging out of his mouth. I stand up sure enough older gentleman browsing with a large unlit cigar. No big deal really but just a little odd to see, especially in Wal Mart. Anyway this of course causes me to now glace at his wrist as I catch a glimpse of something gleeming. ( And you were worried this wouldn't be watch related. ) He's wearing a Sub. No big deal again, but now I get to play is it real or a rep with his watch very close to my face. Now I guessed real, based on the info I learned here and elsewhere, although I don't proclaim myself to be a rolex expert. It had a nice raised crystal, good rehault depth, nice polished bracelet, good bezel etc. My question is what is it about seeing a Sub in particular on someone else that at least in my mind our reps just seem to be lacking. I'm not talking about the nit pick things we discuss. To me it seems to be a size thing, they look bigger on someone else's wrist, more substantial. Is it all in the bezel thickness. I'm starting to ramble, but I hope someone can relate to what I'm trying to say. I mean I look down when I'm wearing my Sub (all the time) or my SSD for that matter, they seem small. I do wear other reps Breitlings, Panerai etc. Could it be I've become jaded to size and the appreciation of what my watches look like to others on my wrists? Or is there something about a genuine Sub that is missing in the reps. Hope this makes sense.
  7. The more I see this watch, the more I feel I need it.
  8. I got the wife a mid size yachmaster which she loves. Has enough bling but nice sporty style and versitle. She liked the J12 too, but she felt too common. If considering the yachtmaster mid size is a must, as the ladies is too small looking.
  9. I clicked running with no problems, keeps perfect time for over 2 weeks straight. Yes crystal is a little off, but I didn't count that.
  10. I just saw this on the other board and like a bad car accident I cannot look away. I say again ouch
  11. I believe it's only single sided from what I recall. I've read also people claiming Panerai uses a yellow tinted coating, but I'm not sure how accurate that info is.
  12. I think it would be fun as well. It's not to far from me, I"m slightly north west of there about a 30 minute drive. Not to mention I can't remember the last time I had Cuban food.
  13. I just received a Slevin from Josh, earlier this week. It arrived perfect. All markers alligned, "Swiss Made" perfectly alligned at six o'clock. Indeed Double AR, but not very effective AR, certainly not to the level of Chief and K2222's. But i'm happy with it, took it in black not yellow. Yellow was tempting but from what I heard not accurate as it should be titanium not to mention I'd probably grow tired of the yellow quickly. Not sure if I'll bother to have it re-AR'd, if I had the abiltiy to remove crystals I'd do it in a a second. Jakub did my Navi a few months back, came out wonderful.
  14. Yes the first time I saw EB instead of EA I instanly freaked. Especially since the package I was expecting wasn't a watch from my trusted dealer. I instantly thought it would never come and it was a bogus tracking number. I was wrong. No worries I say.
  15. Yes, I had an EB once, it wasn't for a watch, but a hockey jersey comming from China. I wouldn't sweat it. just give a couple of days and it will show tracking.
  16. Glad to see you still have the Explorer II. I have the same one, and find the white dial the only way to go with this watch. I really think it's the most striking of all rolex dials, my opinion of course.
  17. Holy crap..I didn't even look at the previous page before I posted. Is one of those Navi's mine??? It looks terrific. Oh yes there is a Santa Claus
  18. Pics look real nice I'm so excited to see my Navitimer. K2222 has been absolutely great to deal with. A big thanks in advance for making this happen.
  19. My Navi was sent out today...thanks in advance.
  20. I too noticed the "black light" effect. While at Disney World last week with the family I had a few watches in rotation. A lot of rides there use black light inside their displays and such. My watches glowed the best I've ever seen them, while under the black light. My BCE the hands were much greener than the markers, I suppose indicating more lume applied to those areas. Very interesting.
  21. Simply gorgeous!! Best of luck with her.
  22. I sent two back to Josh sucessfully. One he just shipped a new one befroe getting mine. The other was a Daytona I got off a member on another board. It died one me. My watdhmaker requested I ask Josh for a replacement movement he could use to swap in for me. Josh told me just to send back the watch and he would have it fixed for me for no charge. Overall back and forth took a month. I honestly expected just to get a new watch, figuring econoically it might be cheaper. My excact watch was returned to me working. I know it was mine because it was missing the hologram, that I accidently destroyed, bracelet still sized to my wrist, and scratches on said bracelet where I remembered them. Totally impressed by Josh's generocity, that's why I like him. Cartel or not.
  23. Here's some recent shots of my SFSO..
  24. Posted the item number, i can't get the link to work. This seems to be an obvious Asian movt rep, even i've been around long enough to spot it.
  25. Well it looks real fake to me. I'll let the pros decide. For some reason I can't link it correctly. Item number: 320155064630
