  1. Just messing around on a warm sunny Sunday in NJ, while waiting for football to start. First my white dial Daytona, IMO the nicest dial of all the Daytona's. Refer to By-Tor's excellent review/pictorial of this watch. Next my SFSO ETA also a white dial. Lastly my VCO modded version. Correct Cross, Superlume, Double AR coating. I think I shot these with too much sunlight, as the dial reflections were not what I was hoping for. Still need to work on my photograph skills. But it's fun trying. Enjoy Steve
  2. Do not shake violently. Try to unscrew the crown slowly, until fully unscrewed. Then sort of jiggle it back and forth, sometimes I find this helps to get it into the first or winding position.
  3. Well done as usual The Zigmeister. Maybe a good Daytona in the future?
  4. Euno, I too send my thoughts and prayers to you and your family, from me and my family. What you wrote about your father touched me greatly, and no doubt you loved him dearly. He's in a much better place now. Steven
  5. I might kill this idea now that Chieftang has re-instated his run
  6. I'd be in for 5 but that includes a Navi and 2 UPO's (Not sure if the existing AR needs to be stripped by me first). Otherwise certainly 2, as I need to figure out how to strip the coating off the others.
  7. The crystals being sapphire (Let's not even open up that can of worms) didn't seem to offer any issues in respect to their coating offered. I'm thinking of having them do my new prescription lenses if nothing else. Maybe I should let that be my test run.
  8. I did..it seems they have what they have. Some other coaters I spoke with said the hue color can be tweaked to a desired effect, however the cost to have it done made it crazy. I'm on the fence because what they do is primarily for eyewear. What Cheiftang did and others might be more what the Gens use as the coating process might be different. I'm confused, yet excited. This damn obsessive hobby.
  9. Here is the company's website: http://www.getarcoating.com/ I'm not trying to withhold information. So far they seemed the most willing to help and most reasonable. A lot of people I talked to wanted large lot sizes to even make it cost effective. They are willing to do the 5 or 6 I want done. My other issues is stripping the existing coating off the Navi and UPO's. If anyone has some experience doing that, I would appreciate some tips.
  10. As some of have been searching for a source to do AR coating. I've looked around and called many people. I have finally found an optic coater willing to try out my watch crystals. They can do single or double sided. My concern however, is they primarily do eye glasses. They're process seems good and they are qutie reasonable, they're even sending me packaging materials to send out the crystals. They said they would be willing to do them for less if I offered them higher volume. My concern is that the effect of their coating is green hue as opposed to the blue/purple we've seen. This is somewhat discouraging for my Breitling Navi and UPO watches. Maybe Panerai would benefit from this??? I need some advise from those more experienced, perhaps Mr. Chieftang??? Thanks all
  11. That was a nice story. I was having a crappy day at work, so I use RWG as an escape, your story cheered me. Welcome aboard. I have a 2 year old daughter that seems facinated with my watch box. I wonder if the day will come she will long for Mickey or Minnie on her wrist.
  12. Take a real sharp object and rub vigorously across the crystal, nice and deep. That should be very definitive
  13. Any of the multitude of Pearl Jam's live CD's issued over 2000-2006
  14. It's a black dial..that pic shows the AR coating hue, which is making the dial look sort of blue. That's Flavors pic, so I'm not sure how much photoshoping went into it to enhance that effect. But I assure you it's the black dial.
  15. Flavor's pics but now my watch Thanks Flavor...still love it to death.
  16. The Overseas is by far one of my favorite reps. It works with both dress and casual situations. I have a black Flavor Flav modded one and a white dial version as well, just awaiting the AR coating run for that. Most people don't know what it is, but I always get compliments due to the unique bracelet. Good luck with it, I think you'll really enjoy it.
  17. Just checking the status. I haven't heard anything after the last single sided run, so I'm not sure if one is planned or the single hasn't completed yet. Any help from Chieftang or Flav would be appreciated.
  18. You can add me to the list of extra dial wanters..any color not a problem.
  19. I kind of like it myself, I've been looking for a strap that has a washed out look to go with my 113. With a nice tan I think it looks sharp. Maybe that's gay
  20. I still think the hands on this version are way off. It's nice to see the trapazoid date window, but also too large and I agree the font on the 12, 6, 9 are off, not a bad rep, but I think I'd still stay with the Version 2 of this watch, just the date window was off on that one. Add some AR and you have a real close second place.
  21. Well my daytona appears of showing some problems. I got it off a member a couple of months ago. It worked fine, however, never got too much wrist time. Lately I've started to wear it more. It would start/stop a couple of times, then be fine all day and through the night. Then start stop again the next day. Sometimes running the chronos seemed to set it straight. Now if just doesn't start. I think it's dead. I'm headed to my watch maker tonight to make funeral arrangements.
  22. While this a interesting take on the ending, it has already been de-bunked over at many Soprano fourms, such as the Chase Lounge, etc. The end credits do not indicate Nikki Leotardo as the member's only jacket patron. I have verified this myself. So in other words this entire explanation is false I'm afraid.
  23. As I said earlier I purchased Flavor's watch, he modded it. I paid a small vig for labor and such he put in, but worth it to me as I'd never do as good a job modding a watch. Sort of like some people will do their own plumbing, some will just call a plumber.
