  1. The issue is on a Cartel 1655 that i have installed a 116 on the date mag is just a touch to the left as the cartel dils from the new vintage versions seam to have a date wheel overlay and date windo wthat is in between rolex and ETA, so it you have for example a 1680 with a gen or clarks 127 the loupe will be a touch to the left, if you fir a 125 it will be a touch to the right, the problem with a 1655 is that the 125 is 0.6mm to big to fit the case so will have to be glued and i am not too happy with that, the loup as it is is just a touch and only if you know it, i asked my quality control and the people that have met my 11 year old daughter will know that if some thing is wrong on the dial she will spot it and this fault had to be pointed out in the end to her. I think if you fit the 125 to a 1680 the loupe will be too far right and if you try and NDT dial on a cartel vintage you will need an MBW overlay ans the cartel dials and date wheels seem to put the date window just a touch 1/2mm?? to the right
  2. PPart 401 is what is listed with my supplyer as the correct stem, and is the same stem for the 2824/36 movement also, I have a bag of 5 here and they are 19.98mm long as new and under a loupe look like the one above, Are you in the EU pm me your address and i will save you the postage from cairo.
  3. It looks gen to me, what it is worth is what ever people pay for it on the bay, BTW that dial would be refered to as a nipple dial
  4. Ziggy thank you very much for your time and hard work and for the enlightenment that you bring. There is a cold one in the fridge if you and J ever get over to Germany
  5. A mate of mine has this one and it is a stunner to look at! he has it 3 years now and his wife wears it a lot as well, not problems reported with the plating yet, but with any thing plated gen or rep it will eventualy wear
  6. Have you looked round the balance for pubic hair? more than likely a service will sort this problem but i dont see how QC phots as mentioned above can absove the seller from movement prooblems. And if you see the cleanliness of the 7753 break down on that other site is any thing to go by i would look for the rst of the makers lunch in there.
  7. Freddy, i am torn, the white dial looks great on leather, now if it was a black dial i would say definatly bracelet but the white dial maybe the leather is better, i am a big fan of the bracelets though. You make hard questions mate, a bit like asking me wish of your GMTs i would rather have for christmas
  8. Unfortunatly Guys i wont be able to make this as i will be in England that evening on a work commitment that has just been confirmed. Please drink a beer for me.
  9. No there are two main makers of the 6497 the Hang zou (or some sort of spelling like that) which this is you can tell by the shock absorber and the anchor cock(under the balance) as you may nbe able to see it is only a cock instead of a bridge like the Unitas and the seagull, these are a decent movement and run well but not in the same quality bracket as the seagulls that cost a bit more and have better shock absorbers. The seagulls also have a better finish on the main plates where it is not decorated. This is the seagull and you can see the 2 blued screws under the balance that hold the anchor bridge (a bridge is held at at least two points by screws and a cock is held by one) The extra you would pay for a seagull is worth it!
  10. Apart from the spots it does look good and the date wheel is not sunken to me, a bit of a downer when you have an issue with your first but then this is the world of reps, i would bring the issue up with the dealer. If you realy like this watch then you could alway get chief AR in the future and get the PR hand set to 12, if you dont want to send it back.
  11. Please tell me where you are getting these prices from for asian 6497? I buy a lot of seagull ones from a german supplier and they are double that, admitedly the seagull 3600 is the best 6497 , and every one has arrived serviced i have seen and if i bought in larger bulk direct from China they would be cheeper but then i would not have the 2 year garentee i get by law from my german supplier and that is worth the extra. but if you are seeing these at $25 please tell me where
  12. So basicaly, if you buy a swiss unless it comes sealed in an ETRA foil pack, or a watch smith you know has just serviced it it will need servicing anyway, just the same as the asian one coukld proberbly do with a service. But on the bright side , i have known these movements to run for many years with out a service and with out problems.
  13. Alex the asian unitas if propperly serviced is every bit as good as the swiss, the asian is also the higher beat at 21600 sam as pams as opposed to the 6497/1 that is 18800, unless you can get 6497/2 at around
  14. MY lord 1st rep and so slow with the pics come on you slacker!
  15. The rep will not be gen aligator, it will be leather with a thin veneer , some can be good, most are not great though.
  16. well come get the camera out and lets see it then, ya big baby
  17. I Did but i need to find a way to lock it in to position on my xy table before i do it again, it is fine for enlarging the lug holes but to drill new holes you need every thing 1000% solid, even than the tip of the bit wants to wander down the slope even with very light presure, so i am going to try a thich shaft with a thin diamond tip to start the holes next time.
  18. Looks nice, but did i get that right that the new A7753 236 comes with an old style 24 tapering to 20 bracelet????
  19. True Pete, but i so much want them to do this now just so we can all post pictures of our LTD Pam 360 that the ristis all want
  20. thatas the one! remove the crown only in the hand set position on 2824/36/34/46 (and some others but i cant remember every calibre number) movements
  21. +1 just mad not being at the door of thhe AD the next morning, or on the phone to the AD saying he had better pick up the watch and explain what happened and promiss to sort it before the next email leaves you computer.
