I just swapped to this to take a photofor somone it is valid as todays wristcheck

Yep you could But there are no garantees that the new movement will be serviced or last 5 min never nind 5 years

Go on send it to Ziggy, you can always get a new one for the interim period! As you say it has sentimental value, it deserves it!

It sounds like a loose rotor, could be an easy fix, have you spoke to reg about it and what he recomends befere you do any thing with it?

There are a few such as the tuning fork in older bulovers and acutrons and also the f300 from omega but these day i dont know of any true quartz with a microstepper for the sweep seconds. Unles you have a chronograph and leave the chrono running. quartz with a second hand with have a 1 second movement, meaning that the controler sends a pulse to the motor once a second and it turns once, many quartz with out a second hand will have a pulse every 6 seconds, the up sides on these is that you dont know how acurate it is and the battery lasts for ever!

Be aware that the pearls may not have the same dimentions. I did a pearl replacement and had to turn down the end that fits in the bezel as you can not make the hole in the bezel larger. I managed to set the parl un the chuck of my dremil and turn it down using a stanley knife blade as graver.

Eurotimez was the dealer that brought the asian copies to light, he even posted comprison pics of how they can be spotted so that we would not get rippesd off, and i have not heard or any one getting the wrong movement yet.

Yep i would say after 5 years good service it has earnt a day at the ziggy spa and health centre

As it is new that would be the answer, most dealers offer some sort of warentee, failing that there is a watch smith in germany that has had some good reviews but a cant remember where his contact details are. Can any one chime in and help?

I only watched Goldfinger the other night and though that my self but i thought it was a sub, GMT fits well with the pilot roll. And the roll in the hay with Comd Bond!

Another possibility It could also be as this is a modded 7750 to tricompax lay out that the gears that have been transfering the drive to the new location have alowed the end gear under the 3 possition to slip round while the watch was up side down. If you reset the hand it should be fine, but i would wonder about the free play between the modification plates.

As far as i know, it can only be the hand, the only other thing and i have never known it is that the pinion is loose in the gear?
