That looks good, a great alternative to a rubber strap. Any chance of a wrist shot to see how high it sits due to the nato retainer band?

Your right very expensive for a steel watch, ok it has a manufacture works and some great innovations but

TTK just posted a Chopard XL with an Asian copy of the Valgranges Movement, does this mean that the Big pilot may now be on the cards, this movement should allow the date to be moved far enough out for the BP, it still wont have the PR of 7 days as the Valgranges only has 46 hrs but if they have copyed the A07.111 (standard movement) then the A07.161 with power reserve may be just behind, this also means that the chopard with the PR may be coming, but who cars lets have an attempt at the BIG PILOT. Experts am i talking out of my [censored] here or is this now possible?????? sorry to steal your pic TTK Edit, The Gen has a Stop function for the seconds hand, is this just hacking when the crown is pulled of is it a pilots tool ? there are no pushers?

I really like the look of dials with out the silver surrounds on the markers, a bit like the 1680, shame it cant be done with out the marker all together, but im sure it would not look great, as real dials like this are screen printed and would be realy hard to do by hand. Well done

Looking for a watch that goes best with business suit :)
FxrAndy replied to deepsea's topic in General Discussion
How about an Omega Aqua Terra, Strong but good looking, accurate to a degree, you can compare the rep and gen below, the gen is on a seamaster pro strap in the pic but looks better on leather. The rail master (i wear one daily) is also good but with a business suit i would go for the AT. -
I have used similar engravers before and never managed to get a straight line from them due to the rotary nature of the bit, try on some thing else first, first start the engraver and then go to work, if you try it the other way round it will just fly out of the grove.

Ziggy, with the new larger main plate and date wheel, could the movement work in the IWC big pilot, it would not solve the power reserve issues but maybe the date wheel placement???????

Just been having a look at the inside of SD case backs, not MBWs but from what i see if you manage to imprint the out side i reckon you will mark the inside as well. Try filling the back with clay or putty, take it out and see if you can find someone with a lathe to make a stand that will fit in there so that when you stamp it the force will go against the stand and you will stand less chance of deforming it and coming through.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Swiss Made is a label used to indicate that a product was made in Switzerland. The wording is unique in that most other countries use the phrase "Made in (Country Name)". It was chosen perhaps due to space considerations as "Made in Switzerland" would take up a lot of real estate. Older watches sometimes said only "Swiss" on the dial at the six o'clock position. Swiss law Currently there are strict standards applied by the Swiss government and watchmakers as to which watches can be labeled Swiss Made under what circumstances. These standards have changed over time and were not always codified in the national law, so older watches which bear the mark Swiss Made may not meet them. Swiss Made For a watch to be called Swiss Made or a Swiss Watch, according to Swiss law: * its movement is Swiss * its movement is cased up in Switzerland * and the manufacturer carries out the final inspection in Switzerland Swiss Movement For a watch or its movement to be legally labeled Swiss Movement (it must say "Swiss Movement" not "Swiss Made" on the watch case): * the movement has been assembled in Switzerland * the movement has been inspected by the manufacturer in Switzerland * the components of Swiss manufacture account for at least 50 percent of the total value, without taking into account the cost of assembly The most popular items by far to have the "Swiss Made" labels are Swiss watches. Without fail, all Swiss watchmakers label their watches prominently on the faceplate. By convention, the words are fully capitalized, positioned on the bottom of the face, split by the half-hour indicator if available, curved along the button edge as necessary. Watches made in other countries typically indicate their country of origin on the back of the watch, except for very few well-known high-end manufacturers. End of wiki and now my 2ct So if a movement cost $5 to make in china, it is shipped to Switzerland and has a rotor fitted with a value of over $5 (50% its value now) in Switzerland and is finished and cased there then it is swiss made, AKA breitling ect with ETA works with a good finish.

What does the inside of a gen case back look like, ie are the stamped letter visible from the inside, because! If you stamp your self and you manage to indent the SS to the level you want to it will show through on the inside, unless! You have a perfect form that fits the inside of the case back and method to stop the case back jumping every time you hit it.
-
But as long as we keep buying the not so perfect ones they wont make it, i would love one too, lets live in hope eh.
-
Err i think that is a real rolex 616

This has been over talked before, im sure it makes no bearing on its origin what ever its colour is. It is just a different colour and a different grade of finish, if manufacture A who wishes to use a 2824 with a closed case back he will opt for a lower grade finish than manufacture B who is using a display back and the movement will be seen. They are all probably made in the same factory with the same tooling but time is spent on the finish of one and not the other. The finish may be added in CH or the moon to make is a swiss ETA.

My titanium Seiko Kinetic leaves black residue
FxrAndy replied to teddy boy's topic in General Discussion
The watches that my works issues have a nylon strap, and a while ago i had cause to call them all in and check the serial numbers, believe me Teddy boy is not the only one with a dirty strap, some were caked on dead skin and dirt on the inside. I fitted new straps to them all before i re-issued them and passed on a few tips on hygiene at the same time. -
Don't listen to that crap just wear the watch upside down on odd days and the right way up on even days that way the gains will cancel them self out, or just listen to Ziggy
-
Very true, well i bet you wont sell that ziggy lumed one, wear it with pride in a dark room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
