Congratulations of your case modding so far,looking good. Here's a couple of pictures of where I am so far. I aimed to create the up turn on the undersides of the CG's you get on the 1655 and the 1675. On the ingod case it's a bit easier too remove material as you have the ridge on the undersde as per Gen to work too. Cheers DH

I think you may have an ingod service bezel there which are too big, if you can post a picture i'll confirm it for you. I'd like to have a look at your case too if possible. If you really want a good correct flat top 4's bezel then you will need to use either an ndtrading, phong or MQ one, but they're not cheap! Better option is to see if ingod will do you a deal on his complete case set which does come with a really good bezel ironically enough might also what to consider using the GMT parts from the 2836-2 in the watch and transfer them to a 2846 therefore creating a slowbeat movement, also you'd need to remove the gearing that controls the adjustable 24hr hand if you wanted it to function as per the gen. Remove the hacking lever if the dial is meant to be pre 1973 too. Cheers DH

if you want it to function as per the gen (non independently adjustable 24hr hand) then i'd suggest a eta 2846 with the gmt parts transferred from a eta 2836-2 Also remove the hacking lever if the dial dates in terms of font etc PRE 1973. Still in conversations with my friendin terms of what can be acheived, but I realise that ideally i need to be able to offer - 1. Remove existing engravings,laser etchings etc properly back to factory finish 2. Offer correct period engravings across a number of Vintage Rolex sports models(That's my thing) 3. Ideally be able to offer casebacks like the 1665 My idea is really to offer NOS looking work, or if you want it Aged then i'm confident i can also do this nicely DH

Yep your right R, Unless you own of of the original Pantograph Machines and are doing each case by hand then nothing will be exactly the same of have the Random feel of Gen engravings. What I'm thinking is something very close to what Phong currently offers but a sensible price. I have actually been collating info for a while now in terms of the differences with regards to the variations on the numeral and letter fonts,styles and placements.My idea will be to work on some protypes and let you guys be the judges on what you see. We have some real experts here on the forum so it should be an interesting project. DH

Good Morning Gentlemen, I'm dipping my toe in the water on this one, I have access to a friends Precision Engineering workshop here in Sheffield. If this may be of interest to any of the members on the forum I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts and feedback. At the moment, as far as I'm aware of Phong and Minh are the only real contenders in terms of offering credible close to Gen re-engravings in terms of Vintage Rolex and charge a whopping $300.00 plus shipping for both lugs. I know Yuki offers an engraving service too but not great in terms of finish in my humble opinion. I'm UK based but would be happy to service all International Customers. i'd personally buy one of josh's folded 7836(i think its the same as mary offers) slightly enlarge the spring pin opening on the end of the bracelet so a 2mm will fit. Buy a Gen set of end links and your good to go. There is also the WSO 78360 which i haven't personally seen, there are no pictures of the stampings on the listing and he won't confirm whats on it if anything I assume he's worried about Rolex complaining. Has anyone here bought one?? Might be a simple solution to a long term issue for all of us

They are really, but they came with the bracelet and where already damaged so I just opened them up a bit and fitted the 2mm bars

Just received a wonderful package this morning from my friend Big Dazza. Having drooled over other members 1016 Explorer 1's I finally decided to pull the trigger and put one together for myself. Firstly many thanks for the great information gathered on this wonderful site by all of you who have trod the same path. Its been a great help chaps. So here's my recipe for this wonderful build Gen 16014 case set that had the lug holes drilled by Omnicron Engineering here in Sheffield Gen 78360 bracelet with 558 endlinks which look like they've seen a bit of life! Justins Aftermarket Gen spec 1016 Bezel Gen 24-600 6mm crown with tube Clark tropic 22 Very nice re-done dial sold to me by my good friend 1680, now he knows a bit about the 1016 so he kindly guided me through the process of getting the right dial NOS condition eta 2846 slow beat, all of the Calendar parts removed by Big Daz After market hand set re-coloured to match the dial by Big Daz Enjoy!
