If he's sourcing dials with correctly pressed gilt on top of the gloss as per Gen then there's only one guy who produces them as far as i know, and he's here in the UK, as i 'm sure cc33 will confirm they're as good as it gets.
-
Maybe he could get Big Daz to re finish some of his 6538 dials, he's attempted to sell some absolute howlers on Ebay over the years. It was only a matter of time wasn't it

Hi Toro, He's the large white Bear that admins the forum! and hits nails into wood with his watch cases for a unique aged effect

I'd try Mq as a starter if you want the best www.vintagewatchesmq.com Cheers DH

Nor sure how long ago this was written but he obviously hasn't seen any of TC's watches yet! Being in retail I'm constantly in contact with members of the general public, if a guy walks into my shop (I sell vintage watches as well as menswear) then 9 times out of 10 i can tell if he's got a Gen or a Rep on his wrist, purely by his body language. Normally it if i give his wrist a quick glance without realising he's doing it, if his initial reaction is to put his wrist behind his back then he's sporting rep. They normally won't make eye contact either Funnily enough i had a customer in the other day sporting his new Yachtmaster 2 which is 100% Gen and i was amazed at the amount of Rotor noise it gave off. Not sure if its because it has a chrono function that makes it noisier than a standard 3135 movement?
-
Congratulations on your 8 year stretch! I'm sure we'll still be here in another 8 years. Can you imagine how the rep scene will be by then????? All the best M

I could do with some advise from the newer model Rolex experts on the forum about this piece as I'm more of a Vintage Man. This was purchased back in 2008 from Natalie watches. At the time it was very much at the top of the tree in terms of reps, And I'm sure if memory serves me right it was an eye watering £500.00!! oh how we've all learned over the years My question is how good is the case set in terms of closeness to gen? Is it worth considering for a Build? It has a nice 93250 on it but with the usual give away rounded '3's. The movement appears to be a swiss 2836-1 and the dials a glossy Maxi dial. Any idea about what the parts are worth? based on the fact that the keyless works need re setting apart from that it seems to be running fine Appreciate feedback chaps DH

Very Nice indeed! It's a great feeling when these long term projects get finished, only to be replaced by another one

Vintage Rolex Gen or Fake, what do you think? (GMT MASTER 1675 MK I)
denimhead replied to ArkoN's topic in The Rolex Area
100% GEN Early 1675. if you do your research on the different fonts used for the engraved numbers and writing inside the lugs you'll find that these more rounded larger numbers are correct for the early models. By the way the way the crown guards look very clean and not over polished. cheers DH -
Appreciate the imput my man

Calling all Movement experts, I'm assuming not, but in theory would an eta 7750 rotor fit the eta 2892-A2 movement? Was there ever a Gen eta modified chrono version of the 2892-A2 Cheers
-
Agreed A, 100% Gen. should be interesting to see where this goes in terms of value.
-
Very Nice Marlin, are you using a Gravograph for this? Cheers DH
-
Good afternoon Gents, As the title suggest, I'm in need of a Panerai Rotor for the eta 2892/3 movements. If you have one you'd like to sell then give me a shout. Cheers DH

Big D, remember that if your Importing anything from the U.S you'll be faced with Import Tax and duties. Unless the vendors happy to state a low value on the customs form and Insure the package separately then It can get costly. I learned the hard way once

Talk to Big Daz, he's now back from his travels and building them again at a very reasonable price without the hassle of doing it yourself. Have a look at the pair of 6538 twins he did for me and Nanuq a while back. I personally think he's the Best in terms of aging and vintage luming on these watches. Akira is also fantastic if you wanted a tropic dial doing. Cheers DH
