Know how you feel Rod.....bed for you now! In the great Aussie, and watch WIS tradition...when the going gets tough, the tough get going. So time to regroup, and fire this thing back up. Yes...I'm a bloody urger....and I now urge all my friends, and those who will be my friends, to dig once again to support a most worthwhile cause. Can tell you, it feels great to contribute. Must go, better have a "rummage". Offshore.

Cheap Watch Tools - International Watchman
offshore replied to Toadtorrent's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Guys, I would be a bit wary of that Bergeon style Rolex opener! A lot of these copies have a faulty die, from memory the 29.5! And you WILL mulch the caseback with it. Just a word of warning.....see my siggy! Offshore -
FFS!, We are all trying to enjoy an Easter break, and put together a worthwhile cause for a member in trouble, and we have TTK apologists attempting to stir up a hornets nest. (or get this thread closed down...or both) C'mon, put your energies to something worthwhile....TTK is gone, won't be back anytime soon.... Go and make an offer on an auction, there is just some wonderful stuff going off right now...... Or maybe contribute something to such a worthwhile cause....the Admin team is working bloody hard to pull all this together for POTR, and frankly we don't need this sideshow! Offshore
-
Actually, that was eyeballs rolling, at the spider->TTK assertion, not at you my friend! offshore

TJ, Great to see you back! We always know that "the man" will win the unwinnable! So some catching up to do for you mate. And BTW..... only you get away with that sort of an intro..... best sub indeed Offshore

Confirmed...and that is a snowflakes chance in hell! Once ALL.. OUR members have confirmed satisfaction.......we can move on. Offshore

Interesting tho, that they grabbed another old tiger to run the show! Must be some good genes @ Tigerland! O/S

Ken, Maybe some of our overseas friends, may not know the saying "playing for sheep stations" Folks,, this is anpther quaint Ozzy saying! No, you don't win a sheep station, for winning the game....It really means that the 2 teams always play as if there was a huge prize pending the result. If the same was said in New Zealand .......No I won't go into what the expression would then mean Offshore PS..No chance the Bombers this year KB!

Last night, the AFL ( Australian Football) season commenced. In Melbourne, (Population 3.7m), the 2 bottom teams from last year, the Carlton Blues, and the Richmond Tigers met. These teams, in 2007 were #15 and #16 in a 16 team competition. It is said that Melbourne is Australias sporting capital, and for 72,000 people to attend this match, is, in my mind, amazing. With supporter memberships around 20,000 each, it is more amazing that some 30,000 non members went along , just to see a game played between two teams, who have not featured in finals football for many years. Footy is back, and Melbourne loves its footy! Offshore PS The game was won by Richmond, by 30 points. C'arn the Tiges!

Waterproof Watch Testers
offshore replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in Technical and helpful information
As I am not a science student, I can only go by what the "experts" say. Henry Fried, in "Waterproofing watches" proposes a similar test, so we can only bow to their expertise, I suppose. I think it makes a difference, if there is a "big" leak, then all the air pressure would have escaped before the watch got to the water....?maybe? Good opportunity for a reasoned discussion, anyway! Offshore -
Try this equation. "Swiss made" = 50% of the manufactured cost ex Switzerland. "Swiss" Engineering consultant= $80/hr.(based in Switz) = 1 hour! Components ex China= $50.(or much less) voila....1 "Swiss" watch. Just change the numbers to suit. And I certainly know of very cheap watches from China @ 0.10 ea. yes 10cents ea! So even the "Swiss" consultants, may feel underpaid! Offshore

@DS, I could be wide of the mark here....however. Correct stem lengths, and consequently, the positioning of the crown on the stem, are critical, to the winding and adjusting phases. If we accept a lack of QC to be the norm, you may find that an adjustment to the crown seating position may alleviate these problems. I will be corrected by others more knowleagable, however i do see this problem very regularly on especially "cheaper" quartz watches, and don't believe that more "qualified" personnel assemble and QC mechs. Talk to a repairer, who works on mechs reasonably regularly, and see if a crown adjust may alter this situation. Offshore

Hey rats! Welcome aboard. All the admin team here are from #1. Hang around, and you will recognise some "old' names. Offshore

@AMK, If anyone feels they would just like to donate some $$ to the cause, they are welcome to PM me, and I will give them a PP account to transfer to. Today, I have had a number of members send me funds for the TZ watch school and other info. We, and POTR, really appreciate it. In particular, one unnamed member, donated $100 to the "fighting fund" for just a little bit of (very valuable) info. Just a wonderful gesture, and so typical of the spirit here. So once again, if anyone wants the TZ course, or any of the other info available, shoot me a PM and i will arrange. Offshore

Wonderful gesture from one of our newer collectors. Thanks Offshore

Saved by the Puggy one! Not a bad mentor to begin with... he actually takes not a bad photo, and knows a few rudiments of the rep game! JK! Sorry pugs Really, our Pugwash can teach you much about this obsession of ours.... just a day or 3 spent reading his posts, would make you a most knowleagable newcomer. Welcome anyway, you will find a great community here. Offshore

Done. Members, The admin team, is putting together, a little something, to assist in this cause, for a long term "good guy" member. If anyone has anthing to contribute, please contact an admin team member. Some of you may remember last year, I had a bit of info available on CD, including the TZ watch course. I am going to again make it available, with all proceeds directed to this cause. See this link. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&...st&p=364724 Offshore

Horotech vs. Bergeon vs. French screwdrivers
offshore replied to stilty's topic in General Discussion
@Steph, Actually I don't find the Bergeon drivers all that bad....it's just the blades!!! Think Horotec blades fit other drivers easily enough. Offshore -
Anyone wanting a copy of the TZ watch course, can either PM me, or hang around for a day or so. I think you may find a raffle coming up, that will solve your needs! Offshore
