MB, Firstly, you can't refund any money, as PP have "grabbed" it. Tell the 1st buyer that. Second, until you get a response from the other buyer, you don't really know where you stand...so wait. (I presume PP got the $$ for the other sale as well) As much as it is going to become painful, you really are faced with little alternative now, but to go through all the processes, PP and ebay put up. Maybe find out where the 1st buyer is, and see if you can get someeone local to view the watch for you? Feel your pain mate...PP sucks! I really would like to say 2 words- DUE DILLIGENCE. This forum is run for the lovers of rep watches to meet, gather, exchange views, photos, and experiences, and at times to trade items. Neither the Admin of this forum, nor its moderating team, have any more ability to judge an item posted for sale or trade here, than the buyer or potential buyer. So it is most beholdent on the buyer to judge for himself, the quality, condition, even the provenance, of a potential purchase. Therefore it is most definetly a case of- CAVEAT EMPTOR We would love to be able to stop scammers, to resolve all disputes, to ensure that all and everything discussed, posted, offered, and sold, was above board, as stated, and I suppose "Perfect" However, we live in an imperfect world; all here embrace an hobby which is illegal at its foundations, which in its very self, is a deception. We, who love this hobby, and administer this forum, would love nothing more than to be able to offer a cast iron guarantee, that all things said and on here, were squeaky clean and above board. BUT WE CANNOT We merely facilitate the ability for members to interact. So the true "Rep Police" are each and every one of you, the members. Be VERY sure in what you commit to. IMHO, No! The fact that it has disclosure, does not alleviate the question of implied bias. Not for one moment suggesting this is the case here.....however we now will all be asking ourselves how many other reviews, may have had "Strings attached" At the end of the day, we will probably form an opinion in Admin, that it is better to have disclosure than not. However, when you then read a review, that has no statement of disclosure... I'm sure "eyebows will be raised" It has probably been happening for some time...if not with free watches, certainly discounted or "at cost" watches. It is a subject that has been discussed in the Admin area, as we have been asking ourselves questions relating to some other reviews. Here I want to state emphatically, that to the best knowledge of your Admin team... no member of that team has ever received a benefit, for promoting a product or a dealer. So do you see the dilemma this raises? Here we are, almost having to go into defence mode... due to the questions which now will be in members minds. These sorts of practices will always create levels of doubt. Some sayings from years yon- "Sold his soul for sixpence" "The precursor to moral bankruptcy" Well I'm sorry, but it really isn't my cup of tea! And oh, the aftertaste!
