Ah this is genius! The difficult bit I find is that once you've laid out the parts, the hex keys, and read the instructions there is usually a blazing row in which the furniture is destroyed. This usually comes to pass by having someone standing over your shoulder 'helping'. To be honest, the preceding three hours stuck in an Ikea car park trying to jam it into the car normally doesn't help.
Says the man who buys his Omegas with fitba DVD's included!
Which gets me thinking - do you think you could make a wee spring out of leftover guitar string...
Ach, whisht! If you go to the Ofrei website you'll see what I mean, it talks about the click-springs they have being for specific models, none of which are the PO. It seems to be quite a tricky part to source, and the case is buggered without it.
Rather this is a story of redemption, of breathing life into what previously, up until now, did not click....
Bump.
Incidentally - I can see that Ofrei sell Omega click-springs, I'm just not clear if they're the right ones for the PO.
The bit I'm looking for is the bit that makes the bezel click when you turn it.
Has anyone had any joy sourcing these?
You'll get a dozen different answers depending on whom you ask - some folk prefer 'pro' tools, others are happy with whatever gets the job done. Horses for courses...
If you're going to be removing hands and dials, it's probably worth getting something half decent I would imagine.
For case backs, rolled up duct tape or "sticky balls" come recommended. Might be worth a search here for sticky balls.
"Cape Cod" is recommended too - do a search for that term because I've seen it discussed at length.
And since you're in the US, it might be worth checking out Birdman's Tools section on the forum.
Narikaa also sells some tools (inc shipping) from the UK.
If you're looking at the high end tools, there are some links to online suppliers in the links section under watch tools.
Best of luck!!
Thanks for this - very handy! I wouldn't have used super glue because of the fumes, but I take it it's okay if it has dried before it goes back in.
My dilemma exactly - this is not the watch I would pick to demonstrate my total lack of manual dexterity on. It's times like this I wish I was in the UK or Canada! Marrickvilleboy.....why did you leave us!
I might see how I go though - perhaps I'll get the spare time I need when the forum is down
Does anyone know where you can get the bezel click-springs for the 45mm PO? (Don't know if they're different between the generations)
There are a couple of threads on the forum looking for click-springs, but in both cases they turned up under the sofa / in the vacuum cleaner bag
I have looked on Ofrei but couldn't see anything like this. I haven't lost the part, I never had it to lose.
Any pointers appreciated!
You may find it already is fairly water resistant - get a pressure test done on it at any watch repair shop and that will tell you before you risk swimming with it.
This has come up in a couple of recent threads on the forum - I don't think the tube has come out if it's an 'ultimate' PO.
Check out r11co's post here.
If you've already mislaid your testicles once, wouldn't you appreciate the peace of mind of knowing that they were definitely attached the second time around?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, you may be wondering - what is 2007 like?
I can now reveal that 2007 Australia is like the space age - you'll like it a lot. It's a lot like The Jetsons.
1. Food is now heated in 'microwaves'. The food is taken out on a quick surfing session which helps it build up a sweat.
2. Clocks are now small enough to fit inside telephones, which are now small enough to fit inside pockets.
3. Swimsuits in 1917 first passed the knee line, in 1957 they went above the thigh line. In 2007 they have now passed the bikini line.
4. Thanks to global warming it's now both warmer and windier, except at night.
5. The windier conditions mean you can see further. On a clear night you can now see as far as the moon.
Not too much new information on new reps, my first inkling is that 2007's new reps will have issues that need to be discussed at length
And on that daft note, I'll wish you all a great 2007.
Cheers!
