  1. Cool! Some pics from trawling around: Can't wait to see your results!!
  2. Fantastic!
  3. POM! That would scare the, well, you know what out of me....! Were you doing any high pitched singing, or had you eaten any particularly spicy foods?
  4. Aye, pretty much press the buttons that you pressed to read this in the first place! (I'm kidding, I know it's on a different PC)
  5. And, I take it, dress appropriately in anticipation of the postie arriving! No more 'Naturism Friday' for Puggy when the next IWC is due....
  6. It's no drama - I don't think (or sincerely hope) that either are daft enough to keep large sums in their PayPal accounts. As for payments, every dealer that has gone down before has been able to set up PayPal again if they so desire, takes all of a new gmail account. They may be pissed with PayPal though. Worst case scenario - the online shop bit doesn't work, and you have to wait for an email. Silix do this.
  7. Good news that you are on the mend - there must be a touch of the Robert Louis Stevenson in you I agree that Moneybookers is the way forward. It is a total pain to set up at first, but if folk are serious about this hobby on an on-going basis, once it's set up you're good to go. It saves the dealers money, and it's a piece of piss if you have a European bank account. As Ken has said before though, if you pay by credit card, it takes that out as a cash withdrawal. @Ken, if your overseas transfers are substantial, PM me. You can make SWIFT transfers for about AU$15 - but the recipient needs a bank account for it to go into. It also involves disclosure of personal information (passport number, etc.), I don't know if WU demand that. But the exchange rates will probably be better than WU as well as the fee. Cheers!
  8. Also try googling for 'Proxify' and try to access through their online proxy. That will give you a good idea if it's an IP issue.
  9. Awesome pics!! Actually, I think if you squint between the bushes TT actually managed to get a picture of one:
  10. The quintessential Ubi-shotTM That's an impressive deal Josh has going with that one.
  11. Not to mention the Miss Understood version as well....
  12. Shudder.....
  13. ...just what LA needs....another celebrity couple. I think his star will wane considerably after a year. But it may give the MLS a real boost to see the home-grown boys nutmegging him, and generally giving him the run-around... @chrono903 - you are welcome to Victoria Beckham. Consider it a gift
  14. Yes they're run by the same folks, but the selection of watches is different. Generally silixprime has the ETA models.
  15. With you 100% on that - changing the photo galleries to brand subforums would be a great idea. I think I see what you're saying then, that the change to brand subforums might increase the traffic for reviews, as opposed the current tumbleweed rolling through some of them
  16. Fair enough - we're talking a little bit at cross-purposes because I'm not really advocating more and more sub-forums. What you're saying makes total sense - that's a great way to organise things. What I'm saying is, when someone puts a review in the right place no-one looks at it, but when they put it in General Discussion many times more people look at it. You can understand, then, why it would be tempting just to put the review of a rare brand where people will look actually read it.
  17. But it doesn't, and there's always been the "view new posts" button - I don't think browsing behaviour will change. Perhaps an idea would be to have a main photo review section, and then file the threads in the appropriate sub-forum as you say down the track as a record. At least then the less-known watches might get some fair attention when the reviews are new - it doesn't take any less effort for the reviewer to photograph and review an IWC over a Rolex. [EDIT: I should add that I am talking about filing the best of the reviews]
  18. Actually, since this has been bumped, if someone does a review of a less known brand - why shouldn't they be able to drum up interest in it? If anyone goes to a lot of effort doing up a review, do they have to be condemned to a lack of enthusiasm because it's not a main brand? They might find that people are really interested in it if more people get to see it. And often I think that is the case - great reviews sell watches. For example, I'm sure a Hublot sub-forum wouldn't exactly be heaving, yet it's 'watch of the day' in the main discussion. [says he, still burned from posting photos in a sub-forum and getting next-to-no views ]
  19. Awesome!! As they say.....wear them well
  20. I'm pretty sure that there is a guide for doing this on the forum already. Check out the pinned articles in the Watch Repair & Upgrade section. Just be careful not to lose the bits when you take the bezel off And enjoy - it's a great watch!!
  21. Ah this is genius! The difficult bit I find is that once you've laid out the parts, the hex keys, and read the instructions there is usually a blazing row in which the furniture is destroyed. This usually comes to pass by having someone standing over your shoulder 'helping'. To be honest, the preceding three hours stuck in an Ikea car park trying to jam it into the car normally doesn't help.
  22. No-one can!
  23. Ouch! Unlucky....
