  1. This really tickled me - maybe it's just the holiday season! The verb 'to expense' - love it. EXPENSE verb; the act of spending your employer's money on shit you probably wouldn't pay for yourself, often as an end-of-year tax deduction or non-reportable personal fringe benefit ETYMOLOGY: 14c: from Latin expensa, from expendere: to buy those extra wireless iPod Airport Extreme accessories you probably didn't need for work. In completely unrelated news, my Mrs is extremely pleased with 'her' new laptop that I recently brought home
  2. Before or after the next GTG? Enjoy!!
  3. I think this was discussed in another thread yesterday here - r11co made this point:
  4. Seiko take quartz more seriously than any other watch manufacturer - I'd be surprised if their high end models were topped by their Swiss counterparts.
  5. In fairness, that's an upgrade though. It may be easier and cheaper to get your hands on the replacement rep crown tube. Speak to Paul if you haven't already.
  6. Welcome Dr No, we've been expecting you..... Shopping this weekend doesn't sound like fun though - will be manic Cheers!
  7. Welcome! ....just don't ask who has the best sub!!
  8. Kanerich, mate, this is actually pretty funny. If you knew anything about me, you would know why. But, honestly, I am not in the habit of making uneducated guesses. So enlighten me - what are the precise legal ramifications, and how are they different from having the watches posted?
  9. Eh? The risk is you lose a few reps. It's exactly the same as getting them posted to you strictly speaking.
  10. Wow - that would be absolutely amazing if you were able to help out - I'd be incredibly grateful. I'll send a PM. Cheers!
  11. Personally I wouldn't buy a fake Gucci - the real ones are cheap enough if you order them from the US, so that would be better. I tried to pick out a watch for the Mrs, and I was way, way off. I thought she would like a Patek P24, she didn't. I let her pick from hundreds of genuine watches, and she picked out a Franck Muller. Bought her the ETA Ladies Conquistador on a leather strap = happy bunny. The point is, it might be worth asking, or gauging what she likes from gen watches.
  12. Thank you for the help with this guys. Just as a postscript, I did end up buying the ETA because I am ( a ) soft, and ( b ) very nice. Just got the tracking number today from Jay and Angel at Silix Prime, so fingers crossed it's popular!
  13. I thought I'd just ask, in case someone else has already done similar - no point in reinventing the wheel. The bracelet for my 42.5mm 5th PO has been in the wars. A couple of weeks ago one of the tiny 'half links' (if that makes sense - one of the side bits, but half the size of the normal links) came off the watch during the day and is lost, and obviously the whole bracelet is now broken. (Relieved the watch didn't fall off and break). I could put it back together, but then it won't be my size. Does anyone have any experience buying replacement links or a replacement bracelet for the PO off the dealers? (The clasp has its problems too, which is why I ask about the bracelet). Any idea of costs or who you would recommend? (I know it's a busy time of year for them).
  14. Who will watch the watchmen?!
  15. Google for "online fax" - you basically email the fax as an attachment and they send it for you, just find a plan that works for you.
  16. This is a tough one... On first thought, I would say get your own back - when either your wife or daughter are about to head out the door in their favourite outfit, casually say, "you know, love, that outfit looks really butch on you...." But, unfortunately, being a smart-arse in this case would only lead you to having to pay for an expensive shopping expedition. So the best I can suggest is that you save your orange strap for special occasions....like when your in-laws or your daughter's friends come around.
  17. Yes, I don't think you would lose your watch, but they may be pricks about it (which was my experience, on top of busting the bracelet (although they may have been carrying on to cover up busting the bracelet)). Apparently there's a great watchmaker out Southern Highlands / Bowral way - but not sure if he is rep friendly (or affordable for that matter). Let me know if you have any joy!!
