  1. It totally depends on where you are in the world.
  2. But the bigger picture is possibly an improvement in the situation. There are going to have to be new Swiss movements to replace the ETA's at non-Swatch companies, no?
  3. 77,000 f*&kin dollars he dropped on that watch It was made in 2005! And to think I thought $250 was a bit steep for some of these models No wonder Paneristi and Timezone still can't afford decent forum software. Poor petals
  4. Yeah, that one is an all time classic - gotta love the optimism. "No longer working batteries"! For $50,000!
  5. Aye, $60 for the camera and $160 for the postage With digital things I generally find that the cheap crap really is crap. I think the lens on that camera could be a hindrance rather than an asset. The thing with cameras for me is always battery life as well. I think there are some decent enough budget brand cameras (and used cameras) not to have to risk punts like that camera. I find this website is great: http://www.steves-digicams.com/
  6. I like this. In fact, I may save your turn of phrase for my car mechanic next week
  7. Aren't you undermining your own argument?! Aren't white lies, grey lies and black lies all lies? It's totally fair enough not to be unbiased, but it hardly helps the issue at hand. Besides - bashing Paul while leg-humping EL - it ain't a good look (I'm teasing) [EDIT: Meant EL®-Dirk®, not Eddie Lee!]
  8. It was replica bubble wrap. The Germans hate that. The bubbles only go pfffft rather than 'pop!'.
  9. Easy tiger...that's not entirely fair and I've read you admit it's a personal peccadillo of yours before. If they're all pulling the wool over our eyes, then they should be tarred with the same brush, no?
  10. Hey, what did that cardboard box ever do to deserve the shredder treatment....? By the way, the guy in Vancouver wants his shredder back now (in dreadful taste)....
  11. I made this mistake too with impatience. I figured a mall place would have no worries resizing a band, and that it would be a job done while I was waiting around anyway. They made a total hash of it. The watch later fell off as a result of it too - I was lucky that it fell onto a desk rather than onto concrete say.
  12. Good thread! I'm having precisely the same dilemma - the rep strap is nasty, it's looks thin and varnished. More importantly, it's just not right for that watch. But what to pick!
  13. Whoa - back up. First Mrs Pugwash is happy with your large tool, now you need another tool like a hand remover. Are we still talking about watches? Or is the 45 mm PO just an aphrodisiac?!
  14. I'm all for this one. It isn't difficult to call a spade a spade at all. I have sensed the BS creeping up a bit of late - I think the forum should stand up for those that are the first buyers of a watch and then get a surprise - "oops did I say ETA, I meant an Asian movement you've never heard of". What I'm saying is - dealers need to be called out on it if buyers are not getting the right information.
  15. Just in case it's useful to know, I think other members (cwai? that might be wrong) have had some success putting the genuine dial in the rep.
  16. Amazing wrist shots - that is a beaut Now, how does it look on a granite top?
  17. Get the Railmaster XXL and you'll need reading glasses the next time you try to tell the time on the Ultimate PO
  18. Wow! That is amazing. I'd love to see some more renders as you come along. Cheers!
  19. Aye, good luck to you!! Exciting times.....Doctor Thomas....has a nice ring to it. You may need to change your forum name in a few years!
