  1. Yes, you're right about this amendment not banning online gambling - it just makes it impossible to take any winnings. I wonder if there has been some sort of Washington lobbying by (say?) casinos to get this in place (pure speculation), because it doesn't seem to add up with elections looming.
  2. I was wondering what you were all thinking about the upcoming US online gambling / poker ban (likely to be signed in the next couple of weeks - if you are in the US and have winnings in a gambling account get them out NOW). A lot of the coverage has concentrated on the gambling companies' bottom lines, but I wonder what the effects will be on: ONLINE ADVERTISING? Online gambling is one of the few seriously profitable industries on the net, and their advertising dollars underpin a lot of other sites. Do you think there will be fallout elsewhere with less online advertising (especially to the US market, or US-only sites)? Most of the ads at the bottom of the page here are casino ads for example. ELECTIONS? Online gambling is obviously popular in the US. Telling people that they can't do something they enjoy, and sneaking in the legislation as an amendment to an unrelated bill about ports (!), just doesn't sound like a recipe for massive popularity to me. Anyway, thoughts?
  3. Ditto most of that - what terrible news for you, and just an awful reality check. Of course, motorcycles are dangerous, and many people that ride them are very responsible riders who acknowledge that. But we also know that (like fast cars) they attract their fair share of racers too. The only thing that annoys me is bike speed fiends that have young kids - it really pisses me off that they're prepared to fuck their kids' lives up for an afternoon of fun. Hope Scotland is treating you well...
  4. Which Yorkshireman is Pugwash again? "We didn't have nowt motorbikes, we had tea trolley wit pet hamster strapped ont back."
  5. Did you go to this page first? Registration page I found it a bit confusing when I went to the main page for the first time and the box popped up. I thought by filling in those boxes I was registering, not logging in
  6. Having a window in your hall is the height of extravagance. So decadent and unnecessary. I have two.

  9. It could have been a lot worse for him.....Lapis Blue costs a grand more than Midnight Blue models (Don't ask)
  10. Thanks for the ideas! It looks like an easy fix, more irksome than anything. I promise - I didn't go out and buy a brass PO I think the brass comment was 'fake watch spiel' from cheap gold plated watches. He talked about the weight too, but the rep is a substantial watch and I've worn the gen and don't remember collapsing in a heap from the extra weight. Basically, they had a long time to work with it, so I consider it more likely than not that they're going to spot that it's not a gen. But I don't think they could put a finger on why. Perhaps real Omegas don't break as easily
  11. That's kind of what I thought when I took the watch off and noticed the clasp. I don't mind being called out on a rep - but don't tell me it's a crap rep Yes, that's right. Maybe someone with gorilla hands there tried it on
  12. I went to get a link taken out on a Planet Ocean today, and when they had done the work they said, "you know this is fake, right?" I asked them how they could tell. The answer? "Because it's made of cheap brass." Very smug about it too. I often wonder why non-AD's do this. I mean the smugness. Anyway, I think they managed to bust a rivet on the clasp while they were at it - they seemed to have to work on it a very long time, and it's not right now (the pin/rivet thing connecting the two bars to the one bar on the clasp is now loose - fine when watch is on, but pin comes out when I take the watch off).
  13. Hey, has anyone seen Pugwash? Is he dead?
