  1. I dont accept this aspect "The report said firms were under threat from non-genuine sales in the UK through lost revenue" as belive me if I had the spare cash for genuines I would be buying them. I look on our hobby as the same as if you hung a reproduction Van Gogh Sunflowers on your wall at home. Lovely picture I'm sure, but this week the budget won't run to an original! People who buy reps are not (generally) in the market for the originals that they are based on. Just my two-penn'oth.
  2. Got Mrs Slartibartfast's connie from Trusty. Just had to check.....pheww!! Mind you, I am very envious of that HE valve on your SMP @Timepiece. Great collection!
  3. What a great looking watch, very 70's. Shame you didn't take that before picture. You should be proud of your work! (BTW, TAG Carrera running 100% Cheers )
  4. I had the movement swapped out by Davey a couple of months ago, for an Asian 21J but with a black date wheel. Watch looks even better now. Can't say about the reliability of the Asian 21J as it seems to be luck of the draw with these, but the movement Davey swapped in, is still going strong, with no problems.
  5. Here is a shot of my SMP from Joshua, bought about a year ago. The strap is a true 9 piece item, with 9 piece end links. Apart from the screws in place of pins, I am very happy with the quality feel of the item. As you can see it gets worn a lot so needs a clean!
  6. Not much to say really, other than I am hooked into this whole rep thing. Here is my humble collection (so far). Group shot Planet O, 42mm ETA The obligatory SMP A (secondhand) Speedy plus my favourite bargain (under 20 quid!!!) Air King Close up of the Air King TAG Carrera (Asian 21J with black date wheel courtesy of Davey) with the PO TAG Carrera Chrono (I know, I know its quartz, but I really like this one and it was a bargain too) And of course where would we be without a Sub (ETA from Trusty) Plus a little something to keep Mrs Slartibartfast on side.
  7. TeeJay, I need a deployment buckle for a leather strap for my Speedmaster Moonie. Do you know a good source for these with the omega markings?
  8. Don't like it on the leather strap, the SMP strap is a good looking piece of kit. (IMHO!)
  9. I think I will get one and look really, really thin!
  10. I have been using Paypal this way in the UK for two years or more now, using just my Visa debit card. However last month I was forced into verifying a bank account by Paypal, as they suddenly stuck a low transaction limit on the account without warning. All is ok now, but I have had to lodge bank details with them to lift the transaction limit. I phoned them up to ask what was going on, they said it was a security measure that all (UK) users have to go through.
  11. The 04 model is supposed to mimmic a reduced automatic model, see the hour markers are numbered. This is more in keeping with the reduced model, however that model is automatic, so the professional label is misleading. The second hand is different on this reduced model. The other offering from josh is based on the full sized professional model and apart from the sub dial spacing is quite a good likenes of the original. Have a look at the omega website for the reduced model to see the differences for yourself.
  12. I agree about the computer side, but on the personal side, I placed my first order with silix last week. Yesterday i got an email from silix saying they had got my payment ok, but had lost my delievery address, and would I re-confirm. Now this seems to me to be going out of their way to ensure that I get what I paid for. I am looking forward to that great feeling when that packet from the Far East hits my desk!
  13. sorry guys we were sooooooo busy chatting about reps and stuff that I guess we forgot to take any pics, damn!!!! Maybe next time you can bring your reps and a camera............. see you there!!!!.
  14. A big thank you to Davey for organising the RWG UK Southern GTG. I was a little uncertain what to expect, this being the first watch based GTG I have attended, and whether I would know enough about all this, but what a warm welcome. As Highflyingclive opened the lid on his box FULL of Pans I soon realised, with my collection of only half a dozen reps, that I don
  15. Excellent. Drove past it this morning, and didn't even notice the pub!! Anyway that's just me!
  16. Slight change of location??? Davey, call me thick but it is still the Ring o Bells ya??? Come on UK Southerners lets se you!
  17. Suprb collection, many watches there that I need in mine!
  18. Hey Pugwash, have you posted a photo review of your collection? It must be quite something to behold! How many do you have? (oops hijacked the thread..... oh never mind )
  19. I can recommend an omega constellation. Trusty has a good selection of cheaper quartz models. I bought Mrs Slartbartfast one, and she loves it. It does have roman numerals, but looks good IMHO. See my pics here..... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry128916
  20. I am more than a little reticent to supply dealers (however reputable) with personal CC details. For people in the UK + Ireland + Spain, check this out. https://www.3vcash.com/index.html A prepayed Visa voucher. Looks good (for online purchases only), I may well give it a go, as the fees don't look too bad.
  21. Sounds good to me..... just 'round the corner! Wifey can drop me off, shop in 'glorious' Reading, and pick me up on the way back (leaving plenty of oportunity for a few pints)!
  22. I am starting to really like that J12. I know I shouldn't get one, but I know I probably will. Great report by the way, and I like the photos. But now it makes it harder to say no to that J12. Who did you get it from?
