  1. Agreed, my collection seems to grow and grow. not all of them are getting the attention they deserve. however I could not bring myself to part with any one of them (at the moment, that is). @Mezz - enjoy.... you have good taste!
  2. Of course! Why didn't I think of that.......brilliant!
  3. predfan2001, sounds like you and me are on the same learning curve. Great post. What a good idea to share!
  4. No! Go for it, Victoria, I would be very interseted to see, and would love to know what you think of these reps. Perhaps a rep forum is not the place for those who expect gen quality at rep (actually less than rep) prices.
  5. I had the same problem, so looked up jewellery supplies on ebay. There are loads of Jewelers boxes for sale, including those generic silk lined watch boxes. Just the job!
  6. There was an article on the radio news here in the UK only today, advising people to avoid buying counterfeit goods as gifts for Christmas. They did not specifically mention watches, but the substance of the report told how profits from counterfeit goods funded terrorism, pornograhy and organsed crime. OK call me naive, but I had not considered this possibility. Anyone here have any insight into this and how it may or may noy affect our own hobby?
  7. Just had a couple of watches in from Silix. EMS said left origin country for some 10 days, then it popped up on Parcelforce tracking, then two days later it was home. Just got to be patient. It will arrive eventually!
  8. As a father of two girls (though older) I can say that I know exactly what you mean. Congratulations on your good fortune!
  9. Thanks tmg, I agree your Omega hands trick looks VERY good. I don't have the skill or tools to modify them to fit though Cheers archibald, I will give your idea a go! I am very happy that my first efforts at modding (and reporting for that matter) have been enjoyable to read. Thanks By-Tor, for the feedback. Nice reference shot... thanks tmg! Gives me something to aim for!
  10. Wow, great work, I like it! That T39 is awesome!
  11. I'll let you know soon, as I have just got the shipping confirmation that mine has got through customs and is on the way home! Can't wait!
  12. Just a quick update............. I was troubled by the silver rehaut on this rep model. It stood out as wrong when compared to a gen. I tried to think of a way round this, so bought some mat finish model enamel paint, popped out the crystal, and painted the rehaut black. Wow what a difference! Before After with black painted rehaut What do you guys reckon? ---------------- Also the dial was VERY glossy. Completely wrong IMHO. I took a tip from freddy333, and used some acrylic mat spray varnish. Again wow what a difference (better first hand, the pictures don't do the finish justice). Can't quite beleive that two small modifications have made such a huge difference! Next on the list is a repaint of the GMT hand, as I have made a bit of a hash up of it the first time around. This has turned out to be an "itch watch". I just can't stop scratching at it!!
  13. Of course my better half knows they are reps.....I tell her! Then she is happy to take them at face value (yes them, she has more than one!) Enjoy giving reps, but be open about it!
  14. Certainly sounds interesting to me. If you come up with a silver disk to fit the ETA 1655 from TT, count me in.
  15. Agreed. Divvy up and join in...just like you were going to!
  16. Same for me with a watch from Silix. just says "advised" from the China courier. Been the same since end of November. Still early days yet. Silix hasn't let me down....... yet!
  17. It's gotta be the "or this" for me. I am into the vintage look at the moment. Great choices both of them though!
  18. So did I. Got one of the white faced models. Very nice indeed for the money. I had to ask Narikaa how to adjust the bracelet, as I couldn't figure it out. His advice was faultless, and I had removed two links in no time at all. I would definately recommend the ladies Link to anyone.
  19. Followed the advice here from freddy333 to use matt spray varnish on my 1655 dial. Wow!!!! This has transformed the look of the watch totally. Thanks freddy for a priceless tip! I will post some pics in the coming week!
  20. Gotta agree Ptolomeo! You have a talent there, great shot. Oh, and I like that J12 too!
  21. Worth all the effort though. It looks good!
  22. Great looking Exp. I have just received a TAG from Narikaa, and was very impressed with the quality and service too. I love that Explorer. Good choice and great price!
  23. I second that, what skill. And great choices in watches too. Brilliant!
