  1. Well as you may have guessed, count me in. Anyone else out there????
  2. Hi Does anyone know if there is a black date wheel available for an Asian 21J auto (Miyota copy I think)? I have a TAG Carrera rep from Andrew and it would finish it off nicely if this were 'correct'. Cheers!
  3. Got mine from Joshua, very pleased with it. It's the ETA version, very weighty, well built, and once the bezel is re-aligned (first thing I did), a very convincing piece. By the way, keeps good time too.
  4. Not seen one of these before. I kind of like it. It reminds me of a station clock (though station clocks are a bit smaller of course)
  5. Just over half....... you've gotta be kiddin me!!!!!!!
  6. Not sure that you would be able to source individual screws, unless you are lucky and someone at RWG will donate some. If all else fails, Andrew sells this strap on his site here Trusty's SMP Strap
  7. Welcome! There are many reputable dealers to choose from that subscribe to this board. One or two in the UK. I can say from personal experience that you have come to the right place for knowledge and advice on the world of reps. The only problem you'll have is trying to convince yourself that really you shouldn't get yet another rep.... but it's hard!
  8. Two classic pieces to start your collection off. My first rep was a SMP. Will always be one of my favorites. The sub is calling to me, but I don't know if I am a Rolex sort of a guy. Enjoy them!
  9. Thanks for the info on the X-33. For the price that silix is asking it could be worth a go!
  10. That X-33 looks interesting. A change from the usual. Did that come from silix (from memory the only place I've seen one)? Do the hands function as well as the digital or are they just 'cosmetic'?
  11. The position of the He valve is particularly good. This was always the big give away with the SMP reps. Second hand has a good length counterbalance as on the original. Nice watch! I bet you're pleased with this, enjoy it.
  12. What? No lacquered wooden box and velvety cushions?????
  13. I bought an Omega Constallation from Trusty for the current Mrs Slartibartfast. She loooooves this watch and hasn't worn the Datejust I got for her since! (thanks to By-Tor for the white balance on this photo!)
  14. You guys (and By-Tor + TTK and the rest of course) are masters at this photo (fix) stuff. I would not have thought that such fixes were possible from such a yellowish original (no disrespect to littleme, nice watch). I have the same problems with my own pics. Good on yer, keep giving the valuable advice!
  15. Impressed for £2! There's something about those early digitals. Takes me back to when I was a boy......
  16. One area where I think improvements could be made is in the quality of the steel straps. My reps have been noticed by people who I'm sure aren't in to watches but would recognise the brands, and pass with a compliment. But if they were to hold one in their hands the strap would give it away immediately. The three I have, have loose links, poor articlation and rough sharp edges. The clasps are a bit iffey too. I have read about the surprising lack of qulity feel of some gen Rolex straps, but I doubt they are quite as tinny feelng. This to me is one area overlooked at the moment.
  17. I know where you are coming from, I got my first rep only 5 months ago, but almost immediately pulled it appart. It was an SMP. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but after aligning the bezel, well it just looked that bit better. Then came the OEM hands of course! I am not trying to achieve an identical copy (you can't with this case anyway) but it gave a certain sense of satisfaction to be able to pull it apart and reassemble it. Prior to joining this forum and reading up on the basics, I had never opened a watch case in my life. What is it they say? If it aint broke don't fix it. Well sod that!
  18. Two gens. Now that's just greedy!
  19. Love the photo strip show, first the bag, then the box, just a little more..... You lucky bu*ger!
  20. Thanks baltic for a great side by side review. Still one of my favourite watches. Just got to get me one of these....
  21. The quality of the bracelet is ok for a sub $100 watch. It is smooth, has a reasonable quality feel, but I imagine not quite the same as an original. Perhaps ours is cotton, and omega's silk, if you know what I mean. What more can you say?
  22. I know what you mean, this is the only flaw so far. Especially as Mrs Slartibartfast wears her watch on her right wrist, which places the clasp button next to her hand, so it gets triggered very easily. Still for less than $100 you cant expect a masterpiece! In any case, she remains very happy with this watch.
