  1. I'm no expert, but to me this does not look like the movement with the controversial, not-necessarily-problematic [censored] configuration.
  2. Pure rubbish. The Man can seriously drive any racing vehicle to its limit like no one else can. He also has the ability to gain an understanding of the car he is driving and convey the handling/performance characteristics to his engineers, so that meaningful tweaks and changes can be made. I think that is the not-so-well understood dimension of a good F1 (or any race car) driver. There's tons of talented drivers, but the best ones have the ability to communicate with their technical team to take the vehicles to the next level from race to race, or even pit stop to pit stop. For ALL of the drivers, there is the element of luck . . .
  3. I think it were just Michael's choice, he would not have retired. Sad day.
  4. I did find a white rubber ring - that's the compression ring? I need to buy calipers so I can make proper measurements.
  5. Very nice. Curious, where did you find the dial with no subseconds? Also, may I know the crystal diameter? Was there a compression gasket or ring between the bezel ring and the crystal?
  6. Is there supposed to be a compression gasket or ring between the bezel ring and the crystal? I tried installing a 40mm davidsen crystal in my brevet bezel ring, and find that the crystal is too small - no press fit like the original rep crystal.
  7. As The Zigmeister has said - it's an assembly issue. Some are more prone to have interference between the hairspring and balance than others. And, as The Zigmeister has stated, it can be fixed IF it becomes a problem.
  8. No problems so far. Movement has been accurate within seconds between windings. I'll have the hairspring issue fixed (if it needs it) when I have the Davidsen dial, hands and palp crown installed. I'm not convinced that this is an issue with every movement.
  9. Is the seconds hand powered by a microstep motor so it sweeps, or does it have a visible 'ticking' movement of typical quartz movements?
  10. Greg Stevens 24/24/135/85 Primo Tan (from Quarks!!) on a 111H:
  11. Revell Nightcolor? Wow, I missed that tip somewhere along the way. I'll have to try that. Edge - did you have to tint the nightcolor at all?
  12. Looks great Edge! LOL. Are you the new Joe, LOL? LOL.
  13. Davidsen is carrying the thick crowns too?? Wow.
  14. I really like my 111h with the latest CDG movement, even though there was a recent negative review as to the build quality of the hairspring and balance. I am not aware of any that come straight from the dealers with superlume, other than Davidsen. EL sometimes offers watches with superlume, but I haven't seen a 111 from him superlumed. My understanding is that the cheapy 111's from River and Silx offer good value. The one I owned from silix had a nice thick crown and AR. EL's latest looks very nice.
  15. Seven now . . . what the hell are you doing?
  16. He's in Australia. Maybe he bought Andy's remaining stock.
  17. Finally, a perfect description. Thank you Nanuq. While my 1665 is apart, I'm having Tommy look into what can be done to keep it water tight - like maybe sticking a blob of epoxy on it or something.
  18. happy birthday. i would go with baseball, but that's based on what i've read about these straps. i will eventually get one of these.
  19. Ah, good point Mark. Actually, come to think of it, I did do that once and I had to sand down the end of the pin.
  20. I use the broken end of a rep Bergeon spring bar remover tool. The diameter of the broken-ended shaft fits perfectly in the CG lever pin hole. I've removed the pin from several CG's and in each instance, it took a lot of force. I am surpised that a paperclip worked. Once I manage to push the pin out 2-3mm, I use needle nose pliers to grab the protruding end and pull the pin all the way through. So, buy a rep Bergeon springbar tool and use it once like I did to break the end off. Then, you'll have a PAM CG lever pin remover tool.
  21. I know it's fake. So, the hole doesn't go all the way through? This has been one of those unanswered questions from way back. I've had answers both ways. Some have gone so far as to plug what they have identified as a hole along the inside of the case. So, which is it?
  22. Nice pics Bazz!! Curious, did you waterproof the He valve?
  23. Looks great so far Marco. Keep trying. I've got the Brevet 6152, but seeing your destro keeps making me think twice . . . I love the Brev Ital engraving.
  24. No problems with mine . . . yet. In fact, it runs excellent and keeps time within seconds a day. I'll follow this thread and post an update if anything changes on my end. I posted a pic of my movement just for reference of the CDG version with the 'working' swan neck.
