  1. I paid for my own G-Shock. They would have provided me a Marathon if I wanted it but digital was more useful for my role. If your friend was given a G-shock during a class then Uncle Sam owes me 75 bucks! You are correct about pilots, especially Navy guys. I've spent quite a bit of time around them. They deserve to be proud but I can tell you I have seen many of them freeze up during action. I tend to think they would be better served by finding a little humility. From my experience the most dangerous and capable guys in the room are also the least likely to boast.
  2. You didn't know that 'Big Ben" is a GMT???
  3. While I was serving (90's) a standard issue was a Marathon. Many pilots where issued the Marathon Navigators, I think the second or third version. The Navigator watches don't have any special "Mach" powers they just have to stand up to military testing for high G's. That was likely just somebody showing off or Marathon's marketing team at work. Your watch will suffer many more G's knocking into a table then it will see in a jet unless you wack it into something inside the jet or course. They do have special capabilities to deal with rapid changed in pressue and are often also used by Airborne for the same reason. Almost everybody I worked with used G-Shocks although the current models from Suunto keep popping up with on the guys I come across. I would have loved to have a Suunto when I served but the G-Shocks were as cool as you could find back then. As far as the "Special Opps" watch, I really doubt that watch will ever see the wrist of anyone in Opps. Well, unless you payed them to wear it. That is the perfect watch for PX Rangers.
  4. I can hold off on my second black (if I even have one coming ). I really could use one black for a current project but the second DW can wait. I'm just happy at the chance of getting one. Cheers!
  5. I can confirm my two black, or one if you don't have enough. I can wait for the other one. Thanks for project Lello!
  6. What Pug said! I was trying to think of the name of the stuff that did a number on a gen a few years ago. I wacked the crap out of it on the corner of a wall in San Francisco. I took a look at it suspecting to see some damage to the metal but all the damage was to the crystal. The dealer told me of this evil stuff the call "silicon carbide" and I lost my watch for a couple months.
  7. I like it but the "special ops" plastered on the dial makes it look a little over the top. Take that off and it's a winner.
  8. Great news Lello! I really need two black. Cheers!
  9. Great job! I would be interested in a few. Any word on the 7753 PAM DW's? Please...
  10. Nobody in the Bay. I wouldn't worry about sending your watch to Canada, The Zigmeister never has an issue.
  11. Please, please, please keep Katie Price, aka Jordan. Her voice makes me want to commit hari kari with with a spork. I would be willing to give up a Selma, two Baldwin brothers and a Beil if it guarantees our safety here in the states. Also, someone check on her kid, I'm worried about him. As far as Soccer, I hope the bet pays off. I would love to see Beckham be the one to finally get the sport off the ground in the pros. I'm a huge American football fan but there is always room for more games to enjoy.
  12. Thank you The Zigmeister! As usual your expertise comes to the rescue, and during your vacation no less. I bought two of these watches, one complete and one in kit form. This watch was the complete one and did have a datewheel upgrade that I should have mentioned. When I bought it I assumed you had done the DW upgrade but looking back it was the lume that was done by you (sounds like you had the dial only). I won't mention the who did the DW but that has to be it. The seller has been great and is standing behind the watch so I will see what we can figure out. Thanks again for you help!
  13. Here is a question for the movement guru's in the house. I wore my recently received used ETA 7753 - 196 for the first time today and everything seemed fine until I looked down a couple hours later and it had stopped. The chrono second hand was just short of the 12 marker. I thought it might have run out of reserve so I wound it up all the way and it fired back up no problem. Then a half hour later I look down and it is stopped with the chrono second hand stopped just before the 12 marker. I have watched it a few times now and it seems to run for about 5-10 minutes then freeze up just shy of the 12 marker. If you stop the chrono (which is easy because it isn't moving) and reset the chrono, then start it again, it runs like nothing happened ... for 5-10 minutes. I haven't seen this happen to any of my chronos before, any ideas? Thank you for your time and assistance! Cheers, CM
  14. Lello, Can you confirm if these are recessed or flat DW's? Thanks! Cheers, CM
  15. Best wishes to you and your growing family! I'm looking forward to picking up some DW's.

  17. Any updates on this one? I neeeeed this one badly..
  18. I would buy one in SS. It makes a great looking dress watch.
  19. Winding your automatics via the crown is a good idea when you get the watch.
  20. This cracks me up, even though I don't think you meant anything by it. Some of the nicest and most masculine watches I have seen have been on the wrists of gay men. I would venture a guess that there are members here, even paying ones, that are homosexual. Then again, maybe we don't. I don't see many woman here perhaps due to the same type of reactions. P.S. Newsom attracted a large amount of attention across the US and other countries when he challenged the Feds by allowing gay marriage in San Francisco. Love him or hate him he is politically noteworthy, at least in the the US. Cheers!
