I recently purchased a Dubois & Fils Montre Monnaie, because my collection lacked dressy watches. Dubois & Fils is not a well known watch company, but they have been around since 1785. The reason why they are not well known is that their time pieces are not widely distributed and are only sold through the company. Dubois & Fils designs are more of the classic look and the coin edge design of the Montre Monnaie follows Dubois' design philosophy. I also really like the look of the tri-compax layout and the 3-6-9 sub-dial layout provides a more balanced look to the time piece as compared to the traditional 6-9-12 sub-dial layout of the 7750. I had initially thought that the movement used in this time piece was a 7753, which would mean that there would be a single pusher on the left hand side of the case to change the date over. When I received the watch, there was no pusher on the left side of the case and I started to get concerned that maybe this watch was a franken of some sort and the original owner replaced the movement with a 7753 for some unknow reason! With shakey fingers I pulled out the crown to set the time, but this action resulting in changing the date over! I was quite surprised, because I had thought that the Hublot HUB 44 is the only Valjoux based movement that had a tri-compax design that you can set the date via the crown! Upon further research, I noticed that some websites listed this movement with 29 jewels and some with 25 jewels. I then questioned if Dubois actually modified the movement for the the Montre Monnaie and then Hublot enlisted this movement for their use? I took a macro shot of the date window and the date wheel is recessed a bit. Finally...a shot of the movement with the beautiful decorated gold rotor... Now...I'm not a Hublot fan and this watch will never be used in a franken build. It was just interesting that other watch companies besides Hublot that had a tri-compax design and the date can be adjusted via the winding stem.

Not that I know of...Sobrinos watches are not widely known, so I don't think that the factories would focus on these reps as the factories are all about making money. I agree though, stunning watch...I have a gen tobacco Robusto...love it including the huge humidor it came with!

And I forgot one last detail...the date wheel for the A3135 is 21.78mm and 21.63mm for the Y3135. The A3135 date wheel will not work on the Y3135

Okay...thanks watcher...pardon me if I use the wrong terms as I'm not a watchmaker... The Y3135 has no markings....the balance bridge, regulator, shock absorbing clamp are completely different Close up pics of the regulator and balance bridge. notice the beveled edge and the additional screw on the bridge on the Y3135 as compared to the A3135 Here we have a close up of the winding lever. The pivot used for the A3135 is much smaller than the one used on the Y3135 Even the holes for the case screws are different sizes...Y3135 being smaller Let's take a look at the jewels for the reversing wheels. The jewels used on the A3135 are much smaller than the Y3135 Now on to the front of the movement. The date wheel auto advancing wheel on the Y3135 has a jewel, while on the A3135 there is no jewel The manual date advancing wheel is also different. On the Y3135, it is actualy a gear, similar to the gen, while the A3135 uses a plate and thin tube to attach the gear which advances the date wheel. THe Y3135 uses a jewel to hold and align the date wheel, while the A3135 uses a metal stud And finally the stem, the Y3135 (with plastic crown) is much more "significant" than the A3135. The Y3135 looks closer to the WSO 3135 replacement stems for the 3135

I have both movements and they are definitely different...I don't want to hijack watchers thread, so I'll start a new one to point out the differences.

I concur with watcher, the finishing is not great...pretty much on par with ETA movements. But...it is a $230 movement and not a $1500 movement... In comparison to the A3135, it is significantly different in build. Based on initial assessment, the date wheel on the A3135 larger than on the Y3135 (Yuki 3135) movement. As watcher pointed out, the stem is completely different, definitely more robust on the Y3135. Even the date advancing gear is completely different on both movements, in which I noticed that this could be a failure point for the A3135. For the finish of the movement, take into consideration that the A7750 is roughly finished as compared to the gen, but after serving, the reliability of the asian movement is pretty much on par with the gen. I am hoping that the Y3135 will be the same... My next step is to get some replacement 3135 winding stems from WSO to check the compatibility with the Y3135.

Just to update everyone, I just received two of Yuki's second batch of 3135 movements. No issue with the date jumping issue and everything looks good...so far

The stem also looks really close to the replacement 3135 stems that WSO sell, I wonder if they can be used as replacements...

Thanks for the pics W! It looks like the stem has been improved! It'll be interested to know the reliability of the movement as compared to the SA3135 and if it fits a gen date wheel.

If the Yuki movement is the same as the A3135, then yes...it will fit gen and gen-spec date wheels
