  1. Any light duty polishing compound will remove the scratches and polish up bright and new looking. I use 'Brasso', mostly because I have 38 years worth of half empty cans of the stuff. I use Brasso to finish polish the Rolex 6542 Bakelite/Persex/acrylic/Lexan inserts. It takes out the finishing sanding for a smooth, glossy shine. On deeper scratches use 1500 grit sandpaper to level it out, then polish. The sandpaper will dull and cloud the crystal, the polish will bring it clear, bright and shiny like new.
  2. freddy's in reply #10 is all genuine Rolex parts except for the insert. panerai153's is a high end rep. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/150062-6542-is-it-the-executive-suite-or-mailroom-or-somewhere-in-between/
  3. This is convincing enough for me: http://stefanomazzariol.blogspot.com/search/label/Rolex%20GMT-MASTER%20ref%20.6542%20ALBINO
  4. Shouldn't the date '16', being an even number, be in red?
  5. Doesn't the 16710 use a 6mm crown?
  6. Build a vintage. Go diesel. Cheaper, more accurate. Then you can call it a 'Vin Diesel'.
  7. I'd say the Virginia Class in the U.S. Navy. Do you have $2 billion?
  8. That's how I did the hands on my 6204. The rep silver hands are lightly plated brass. The sanding gives that gilt look. I used 1500 grit. It takes just a few swipes. Make certain to go in one direction, one swipe at a time. Nice and easy, I hold the hand using a toothpick in the pinion hole. Sanding back and forth can catch the pointy end of the hand and bend it back. I learned that real fast.
  9. This IS RWG. I'd vote against any name change except maybe TRC. Now that we can upload pictures from our own files I can't think of any other pressing improvements.
  10. Then Ken still has the first version Tiger case.
  11. The Rafflestime case is the 'Tiger' case. Ken is sure to have a dial to fit it, and his crown/tube surely will fit as well. I made my own dial for the 6204, and the 6mm Brevet '+' crown/tube is from Rafflestime. The crown needs some shaping http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/140709-6mm-brevet-crown/?hl=%2B6mm+%2Bbrevet#entry1046879, but is great for the price.
  12. The crown guards look spot on.
  13. The Asian/ETA 2836-2 and Asian/ETA 2846 date wheel are the same, interchangeable.
  14. (Non-snarky ) It has 33 bids, most of the bids by one bidder who seems determined to buy it at any price. Either he knows something no else else does, ~Or~ he has too much money and not enough knowledge about watch parts. As cc33 said, the price is too high for a 1675 insert regardless it's condition. Might be someone from the far East where overpaying for luxury items is done regularly to impress others. (Snarky ) If you must ask, well then, you obviously can't afford it...( )
  15. Bright and early this morning, before the Indy 500, I watched the Grand Prix of Monaco F1 race. It was great. Nico Rosberg won the race. There were ROLEX signs everywhere. Rosberg won the Chinese Grand Prix last year, so I wondered if Joshua and Andrew had any rep signs up...

Mike does a great job and is very reasonably priced, quick and does quality work. I recommend him.
  17. That was my original intent. But the bezel is not deep enough for the thicker plastic one. And the ridge where the crystal sits is too high and can't be taken down far enough to clear the flat bottomed insert.
  18. Mine is from over a year ago. I received a PM last night from jerkstore telling me that he received a "v2". So it could be they switched. Back when I bought it I had PM'd onlinestorehk and he seemed reasonable. I know Ken at Rafflestime is very good. I would trust Ken more just because he knows RWG gives him a lot of business. I'd PM both and ask. Always politely let Ken at Rafflestime know you are a member here. It will help.
  19. The Tiger case is not a gen mount bezel/crystal style.
  20. That seller also sells the 'Tiger' case, and is based in Hong Kong just as Rafflestime is. Here is a side view, after being modded a bit:
