Hey there... This is a follow-on post with some more pix of swapping a complete dial/hands/movement from a Skyland Avenger into my v1 titanium Chrono Avenger case. Here's the original post of this adventure: Grey Skyland Chrono Avenger Special Edition...hackR style! I subsequently moved the v1 Chrono Avenger dial/hands/movement into the Skyland case. The movements are both a7750. The CA movement is a low-beat and the Skyland is a high-beat. I could take this one more step with replacing the v1 CA dial with a rep Skyland dial - these are available. Or chase down an elusive CA gen dial. A gen Skyland dial, perhaps?! -- not in the wild, that i'm aware of... Here's some additional pix of both watches. One thing to notice is the difference in dials. The Skyland dial has a nice sheen to it. The CA dial is flat matte. Nice contrasts of the Skyland dial sheen with the CA ti matte finish bezel and the Skyland bezel sheen with the matte finish of the CA dial. Interesting look for both. Disclaimer: the v1 CA case has a chieftang'd crystal - or lack thereof!... Enjoy... R-

I've seen and researched prices in the $400-$500 range for cases (w/o crystals)...$150-$200 for CGs... Hey Max - nice 082...looks DSN...was it relumed?...and where the heck is the crystal?... R-

http://www.strap-works.com/Vintage/24Vintage/1860CHCA-02V/1860CHCA-02V.html made a mistake...my strap is from the 1860 Vintage collection, and not the 1860 Deluxe collection... bad news, though -- strap is currently "out of stock"... R-

i agree - wondering if someone like Lanikai - who has a tremendous relationship with Josh - could discuss a potential group buy of Skyland datewheels with Josh to the factory/supplier...not sure anyone who has that level of relationship has approached it this way... i'll pm Lani on it... R-

some chronos click hard, some don't...not sure i know why - but that's the way it is with my reps...i can't recall specifically how my Link works... the top subdial is the minutes for 0-30, bottom subdial is hours...9 o'clock subdial is running seconds... R-

advice: best to read Toad's excellent compare above and then determine what "features" you VALUE most... which one is "better" is subjective...pros/cons to each version...and when PRICE is factored in, it comes down to what watch is the "better value" to you!... and we all have different value barometers... enjoy - R

@Mike - perhaps you could also measure the thread needed for the 188 so others can measure their display backs or other backs for potential fit...you might also want to show them the 188 backside with the case open - so they can see how it looks and what the 188 caseback looks like - the ridge and how the gasket sits, etc... @all - the thought of a display back was a wildass guess on a caseback that might be "thinner" to accomodate the added height of the 7750 into the case...trial and error, i know... @Pete --> thanks!... absolutely shocked that a month or so ago, a member was selling a pristine old skool ti Seawolf with gen dial and that it sold for around $525usd, I believe...almost bought it just for the investment since i'm lucky to have both the CA and Seawolf v1s... what still puzzles me is that more members don't buy the polished ss v1 CA that Josh and a few others sell...it's the identical watch as the v1 ti CA, but in polished ss...and now that we know Skyland dials and gen CA dials swap in, you have more options...the v1 ss CA comes in black and white dials...i have the white dial...the bracelet is also a Pro 1 with polished and brushed links...very sharp, IMO... my v1 ss CA below....and links to Josh's offerings... nice watch and nice review... thanks for sharing...wear it well... R-

looks great...that's what matters!...wear it well!!... nothing wrong with a little quartz beater... takes a lickin and keeps on tickin?!... oops - wrong brand...

now that i think of it, and look again at my skyland...wondering if they just mounted the subdial hands backwards...and that you are seeing more because of it the large size of the hole is facing up...does that make sense?!...meaning that the hole in the hands have a female and male indent...the male indent is usually mounted up...kinda like a cap...in your watch, perhaps the hands are mounted backwards... i don't know - it's just a thought... what's cool about these projects is the collaboration amongst members...

glad you got it squared away... altho - kinda odd the subdial hand posts are silver and not white...

bumping this thread as complimentary to Mick's recent post of his Seawolf...

thanks, Mick!... my issue with the clips and screws was that the movement retainer had to be lifted a little to secure the clips...there was just too much play...took me awhile to figure this out - then lift and fasten... R-

yes, sir - on the gen CA dial...that's why i've been playing around with skyland transplants... altho - i have to tell ya, the grey skyland dial in the v1 CA case - while a fantasy - looks great...i almost like the look better than dropping in the blue gen dial...also have been toying around with dropping the gen blue CA dial into a skyland case...both would be fantasy - but definitely good looking pieces...we'll see...and yes, my friend, pix will be posted when it all comes together... hence the posts to trade my other grey dial skyland for a blue dial skyland...need the hands...either that, or i'll get them painted... i agree with your assessment... re: the rotor --> undecorated is the v2...decorated it could be a v1 or v3...would be interesting to know...don't worry about opening the case...it'll open/close fine... R-
-
MP - nice way to "market" a piece...just saying... it is a beauty...but these pieces are so rare, i'd keep it and drop in a gen dial...with the Seawolf you really need to use the rep rehaut and the gen dial to close the gap caused by the rep crystal being less than the 4+mm thickness of the gen crystal... gen CA dial?!....hmmmmmmmm....now that is a good idea...why didn't i think of that?!... R-
-
i think it's a v2 based on the 15 rider tab and the lume dot at 3 - it looks full to me... if you wad up some packing tape/duct tape/etc you can use it to open up the caseback - press it down and turn...knowing whether the rotor is decorated will help you, too... R-
-
is the rotor decorated or not?...

i have a 7.625" wrist...the skyland is big and works for me...as does the skyland BS... even tho i have many Breits , i don't have an SA...why? - i just think it would wear too large... i am pondering the SABS, tho, because it's an awesome, but loud piece...i had a BS on hktan red/black - but sold it to fund my old skool ti Seawolf...i view the Blacksteel as a fun, casual-wearing watch - so even tho the skyland BS would fit better, i might be inclined to get the SABS becauss it's meant to be worn loud... my 2 cents... good luck...
