  1. very sharp looking... did Zig re-paint all the markers or just a touch up of the 2?...the touch-up looks great...as does the lume... well done!...wear it well...R
  2. oh Mikey...i've got the bracelet...but since the World is antique white and not a silver white, i think it looks better on leather - brown leather...i switch from a smooth Gunny Mona to the rep moo-croc...the moo-croc i have on it is actually quite nice and not plastic-looking... not a huge fan of the Navi bracelet...actually not a huge fan of polished bracelets, in general...that's why the Blackbird is one of my favs!... rebuttal, over!... yours in Breitling - R
  3. rep...search in this forum -- and btw there's World pix posted in another World thread about 5 below this one -- and you'll see pix of this rep... the white dial of this one looks to be a washed out photo...i have the white dial World - see pix - and the dial is antique white... but all in all - i like the bracelet with it... R-
  4. this may sound like a dumb question - and prob is - but is there a way to tell if the AR is on the outside without purposely trying to scratch it?... Pete and i were chatting tonight - and we both laughed - it could be that the blue AR visible on my PAM 036 is on the inside and that the outer was stripped already?!...but then again, i don't think it's been stripped based on it history...its the old skool model that's been discontinued... i'm just playing/learning with this stripping exercise...totally agree with you Lani!... R-
  5. as always, Unreg, great review... with today's "technology" i still can't figure out how the manufacturers can't get the dials right...as you said, the shape and shade of color is right - but why can't they get the thickness down... well done!...R
  6. yup...it should work fine...although - the dw on the World is pretty-well sunken...so there's definitely a shadow of sorts, even with a clear double AR crystal... so even with an eta or skyland dw, it still would be shadowed to the view... and also, to be honest, unless it really bothers YOU - the wearer - with the complicated World dial, the date is hardly noticeable... also - it is a GMT complication movement - and sometimes that can be be tricky to mess with...so consider whether or not it'll all go back together fine...some of our modders here, don't like and/or want to work on them...higher risk complication... unless you have a donor watch - finding a skyland dw is tough...but if you do have a donor, please let me know - i could use some other parts!... R-
  7. welllllll....i rubbed 1/2 the crystal and didn't see a diff in sunlight...nor was there any residue on the cloth (i assume there would be a blue crud coming off?!)...i rubbed for 5-10 minutes without any change...rubbed hard... here's the stuff i used...
  8. "...time flies when you're having fun..."

  9. thanks, Chief...i'll desist from trying and put up with the blue hue for now - and ask Z to strip it off when he re-lumes it...the blue hue really is annoying with the tobacco dial - kinda muddies up the look... R-
  10. i tried the ammonia - 10% ammonium hydroxide - professional strength - which is supposedly twice the strength of household stuff you get in the grocery store... anyhowwwww - with a microfiber cloth and a lot of rubbing - nada?!...not sure how long and/or how hard to do this - but after 15 minutes or so of it, i couldn't see anything coming off...argh... also tried the metal polish technique - with a microfiber cloth, too...and once again, a lot of rubbing - 15 minutes - yielded little change and/or anything visible coming off...argh #2... so - is it just a question of longer time rubbing and increased pressure?!... HELP... help!... R- (working to remove AR from an older model PAM 036)
  11. hey F!...congrats, man!... what you said, plus 1...you rock, man!... now - what's the deal?!?!?!...no new avatar and sig pix to celebrate your elite status?!...geeeeeez... R-
  12. thanks, guys!...this may be the first step to a gen dial swap in... everything went in perfectly...being an armed watchsmith now with my new toolset - yes, Toad - you were right! - it took 90 minutes to do...60 minutes to decase both, recase the v1...and another 30 minutes to wrestle with those damn 3 movement retainers screws and clips... interesting to see the difference in chrono pusher construction...the v1 has short pusher stems - the length inside the case that engage the chrono levers on the movement...they only reach the movement retainer ring...there are actually 2 small (2mm in length) stem-like cylindrical pieces of metal that insert into holes in the retainer ring...the chrono pushers push the 2 small pieces of metal that then engage the chrono levers in the movement...the v3 skyland has long pushers that go directly into the movement levers...the v1's design is complicated, but it works... the other difference i noticed was the rotor on the v3 skyland movement was noisier than the v1 CA movement's rotor...both movements are a7750 but the v3 skyland movement is high beat and the v1 CA movement is low-beat...the rotors have slightly different bearing setups...both rotors are stickered/decorated...v3 skyland has pearliage on the rotor and movement retainer...the v1 movement is engraved/decorated with lines - bad description - not round pearliage...the v1 movement retainer is also not decorated... just some info for those technically interested!... R-
  13. what's that, A?...a gen dial or your wrist!... hey L - you had me at hello!...gonna show me the red stitched gator on - ahem - your "ordinary" ss skyland?!...

  19. nice shot, Max!... (i'm actually pondering a Z-blue lume job for mine)... R-
  20. looks great, R!... a side-by-side pictorial of this new beast and it's baby brother (skyland BS) would be cool... ya know - thinking that an OR rubber strap with the deployment clasp DLC'd would look awesome, too!... R-
  21. i think the tangs fit better...at least they do for my 7.5" wrist... R-
  22. Hey Lani - geeez - just playing catchup on posts on the forum...amazing review of a beauty...and love the detail you provided on the coating!...well done, as always... question: the Skyland BS had bezel screws that notoriously were prone to fall out...many of us, removed them and glued them back in...do you have a sense for the bezel screws on the SABS?... when time permits, my friend, can you do a side-by-side pictorial of the Skyland BS and the SABS?...would be cool to see them side-by-side from all angles...and wristies, of course... thanks...kudos!...... R-
  23. KS - beauty, man!... wear it well...R
  24. i still think its just plain wrong for Breitling to make a polished BB... the lure of the BB is the fantastic brushed case and bracelet...the brushed bracelet on my BB is simply one of the best on all my reps - and gens!...
