  1. 2 of my favourite watches at the moment, love the old vintage divers.
  2. well i think its a little different in the Rep watch world. You can't just compare it with technology, i.e computers, because computers are always getting better and you will be buying the most up-to-date PC at the time. But for Reps, We already have the perfect watch- the genuine watch- so of course it is wise to wait for the better generations. Now if the makers were to make the almost perfect rep in the first generation, then we wouldnt be waiting for the later generations now would we?
  3. moved their company to .......Jakarta? where's its even cheaper? lol
  4. changed the bezel, dial and hands. Hope you guys like it. thanks for looking
  5. yeah do some research in the omega section. There's been quite a few members who have added gen crown/gen dial/gen bezel/gen movement, whatever. the blue SMP takes most gen parts. Again, look in the omega section and do some searching.
  6. NOT funny ken... i want this joke to be removed immediately! I dont like racist jokes.... just kidding....hilarious [censored]!
  7. yep i did the same with mine! i hope you actually referred to my pictures first and knew that you liked it before getting that strap....that'll make my thread useful! haah
  8. Hope RBJ doesnt mind me answering this. But i've done the same project. Look in the Omega section as I build a Omega speedmaster automatic from scratch. Honestly, unless parts suddenly become available for cheap - (like for me), forget it. 2nd hand ones only cost a mere 800USD. even if you have a gen dial, u need case, crown, pushers, hands, movement spacer.... think about this, if you were to buy parts for a mercedes benz and build it urself....you think u'll be saving money? NO WAY...spending way more then retail...
  9. @ cornerstone I dunno actually, 200-300USD? maybe.... @ offshore 3-4 hours approx. Send me a pic of your omega geneva, I'll see what i can do with it. thanks for the comments guys...
  10. ok, so i got a chance to pick up a piece of [censored] Seiko 6105. -Damaged movement but running -Badly scratched glass -Badly scratched bezel -Case was scatched and dented -No lume on markers nor hands Actual watch.....watch your eyes ok...might be nasty... Ok, so I re-did everything and here's the result! Hope you guys like it! thanks for looking
  11. ok i got a couple of questions, hoping you guys will be able to help me here. ok, I bought something from ebay and paid with Paypal, now I see that the seller is "NO LONGER A REGISTERED USER", he told me he sent the items last thursday when I last spoke to him but the question is if i dont get my items, am I still able to get my money back? since ebay no longer deals with him, does that mean i'm no longer protected? Please help me! need some good advice! thanks in advance
  12. you have most likely gotten the keyless works messed up. Its most like nothing serious, so just take it to a watchsmith to get it re-arranged for you.
  13. Its how sport is, chance comes knocking, italy was reduced to 10 men by the 48th minute with a bad red card. If you dont take that chance and win then and there, chance knocks elsewhere, and for this instance came knocking right on italy's door, and they opened it. Too bad most of the australian team will be retiring from international, the 2010 WC will be puzzled together by alot of young players. I'm very proud of the australian side who only had less than 1 year to get their act together under hiddink and making it to Round of 16 of WC is not easy. btw, Hiddink has achieved GOD status in my eyes. What a coach he is, less talk, more action, less drama, more results. Poor Neil, by far the best defender in this WC, how ironic how the hero became, if put harshly, the villian..... Congratulations Italy, your star Totti didn't disappoint, nailed that ball left pigeon.
  14. wow! do tell us more!
  15. just send it to any watchmaker to re-arrange the winding and setting components. takes a little while as they will need to take the dial and hands off. But should be straight forward to re-adjust the parts.
  16. david....dark blue isnt really light-coloured.... but i love the Omega bond....good choice!
  17. looks like only bytor and I have light-coloured dial watches....btw..there are way too many PAM fans here...
  18. @ dachshund from what i can still remember, majority of the parts can be interchanged, but i think the balance wheel is right-studded, while the ETA is left-studded. Even the ETA 2892 stem can be used with the ST-18. I remember comparing the two movements a while back and if i got them mixed up, I would have easily build a combination of "ETA-ST 2892-18".
  19. lol r11co, so true.. sometimes i wonder if its positive to even share information that we know to other members, I feel like half the times its like an arguement rather than constructive debate. I think thats why alot of the old timers don't even bother posting now...
  20. Even though the "2892" or ST-18 is not "ETA" it is still made very very well and to be honest, if i had a choice to pick up the same watch with a choice of movements for the same price, I would favour the ST-18 as I will oil and lubricate it and it will be running like a charm, in addition, the 21 jewel 2892 design has been regarded as one of the best movements.
  21. yes, there has been rumours about this, but we are not talking about the standard "loose pack" ETA -2824/2824. We are talking about the supposely 2892 that was found in alot of the Omega range - Old factory 007, current aqua terras. Because thanks to Gran, we found that the movements are actually from a Chinese brand - SEAGULL. Look at this LINK The movement that I am referring to is the ST-18. It is cosmetically almost identical to the 2892, well that ST-18 is actually what is in those watches that were advertised as ETA 2892s. hope this clears everything.
  22. yeah the ones without ETA markings are a chinese based movement. A few of us have dismantled it and serviced it, its not bad and does very very closely resemble the construction of the 2892. If its oiled and lubricated well, it is very reliable, but it should be advertised differently, and I agree with you. But as long as we all know, than thats fine i guess..
  23. I was looking around and spotted a few old school omega divers watches and can't believe there is no replicas of them at all. I'm talking about these two old schoolers: -Omega Seamaster 300. -Omega Ploprof 600. heres a picture for those who don't know what i'm talking about. Now alot of us know that the Omega Seamaster 300 has been frankensteined alot, carrying genuine movements with fake dial/hands/bezel and case. But I also found out today that the same guys in Vietnam also made the Omega Ploprof 600 which carried genuine movement, but fake everything else. I know the ploprof isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I think its a great divers watch, and they only rising in price now for collectors, but i also know its useless even if we rallied to have these watches re-created for us so I guess we can only dream.
  24. like Randy said, it is best to keep scouring the BAY for 2nd hand ETA 2846 movements, I saw one listed for $9.95USD but no one bought it and i was just too late to bid, and it hasn't been relisted since. be patient and you'll find a good one for cheap. good luck!
