  1. @chieftang, i think you are going to have an overwhelming response for your next AR run....
  2. is that the strap on that was on paneristi a little while back (i think he replaced the buckle with a simona buckle)? i thought about going for it (definitely a really good deal), but i wasn't sure about the color....i'm glad to hear the color isn't as orange as it looks in the pics.... great finds!! deltatahoe
  3. wow V -- i'm impressed!!! very nice work on the stitching -- looks really nice.
  4. i like the contrast x-style stitching, but for whatever reason i just can't get excited about that shrunk black leather..... is this part of your most recent order from hktan? if so, any pics of my black strap?
  5. fwiw, i had a replacement dial for my bce sent as i had a slight scratch on the dial....
  6. i'm sporting my 183h (sorry, no wrist shot)
  7. believe it or not, i sat next to someone on the bus yesterday wearing one of these, and was really surprised at how much i liked it (couldn't stop trying to sneak in a peek)..... before seeing it in person yesterday i thought it was a little plain, but i think the simplicity of it may be its main attraction....great looking watch deltatahoe
  8. my thinking = wait till it stops working properly, then decide if its worth the dollars to get the watch fixed / serviced. by the time one of my watches breaks and/or needs servicing, i may or may not like that particular watch as much anymore, and there may or may not be other/better replicas out there. for me, i'd rather save the money now (read: spend on other watches) and cross the bridge when i come to it. i've only been collecting replicas for ten months or so now, but (knock on wood) i haven't had any issues with any of my movements. we'll see if my decision works out in the long run or not. however, as with most things, it will likely be more expensive to fix and service a watch that is broken (assuming you are able to find the correct parts) than to service a watch that is still working properly. given the possibility of breaking beyond repair, i think some people decide to service watches that they absolutely love (ie. pugwash's iwc gst ti), to give themselves the peace of mind that the watch will have a nice, long life. one other thing to think about -- you do read about some of the movements (mainly the cheaper asian models) in replica watches having i) dirt in them, ii) lack of proper oiling from the factory, iii) a whole host of other issues (ie. gears with broken or missing teeth, etc), which would of course be taken care of by a servicing. in the end, i think it's basically just different strokes for different folks. hope this helps... deltatahoe

hi chad, thanks for taking the time to write the review; glad you like your big bang. re: screws falling out, a quick screw check and loctite application for loose screws is always a good idea for any reps with small screws... do you have any pictures of your watch? if so, would love to see them. deltatahoe
  10. fwiw, for bank of america credit card customers, this service is called shopsafe...
  11. mine is the asian version; it is probably the most accurate rep that i own at the moment. i've had good luck with asian movements in general, and have several watches with the new asian 7750 movements, without any problems so far (knock on wood). anyways, i think the white dial looks very classy on this particular breitling (particularly with a nice strap)... good luck with your decision! deltatahoe
  12. i couldn't be happier with my white dial breitling chronomat evolution: see more pics here.... note that the new (ultimate) version doesn't come in the numeral markers versions....
  13. hmmm....why would you pronounce the "i" in ingenieur with an "a" type sound?
  14. @crystalcranium, not sure if you've been since they opened the new tourneau in the new westfield shopping center (with the bloomingdales), but the new tourneau is huge and has an amazing selection of pretty much everything except PAMs (breitling, cartier, omega, rolex, IWC, and many others). now that i think of it, i'm suprised i don't stop by there more often...
  15. did a quick froogle search and found this....
  16. ahhh...that was me actually -- that case is top notch; it has a great fit and finish -- i'm glad you like it. deltatahoe
  17. it's the chronomat evolution for me today... and a wrist shot....
  18. FWIW, there is also a shreve in union square in san francisco (they are the exclusive pam dealer in sf)...
  19. quick on topic note: i think there was a post a while back about how the price of this watch on josh & trusty's sites jumped something like $300 in a day (i think they said something due to ETA shortage, etc).....this could be part of the reason in the difference..... now, back to the catch phrases....pugwash, i like your "loosed the bow string" phrase -- i'll try to use that sometime on here.... deltatahoe
  20. actually i like to think "birthday boy" has a better ring to it <------------------
  21. umm...i just close the lever. you should ask your friend -- when he opens the lever, does he hold the crown in place, then open the lever, then let go of the crown so it can 'release' without being scratched?
  22. i guess i just liked the respect TTK showed ziggy while putting the guy in his place. normally TTK's flaming posts are filled with comedic quips; this one had a much more serious tone which i thought was particularly appropriate given the disrespect the member showed ziggy, one of the great assets of this forum. @TTK, you have a way with words....it's a gift i tell you, and you use it well.
  23. i hope you saw neil's post here -- some of his best stuff. deltatahoe
  24. agreed with all of the above; give the guy the boot. looks like i started my "petition to give the boot" thread a little too early in the day -- this guy is twice as deserving as FLB. of all people to pick a fight with, he chooses ziggy (quite possibly the nicest, most helpful person around)??!?! deltatahoe
