sorry to spoil the fun v.....i'm a finance guy so i think in numbers. given your guidance, i think it must be a pretty close race (between the straps & the watch)....given how much i've been spending on straps lately, i think i'm headed in the same direction.
ps. with so many nice straps i'm a little surprised you don't have a single greg strap in your collection, especially given how much you like thick straps. i just got a primo tan and it is one nice, thick strap...
agreed; this is the first community of this sort i've ever actively participated in, but i have to say that RWG is a special place with good people.
merry Christmas everyone.
i get a similar email every month (originally i bought a one-month membership); it tells me that my subscription is about to expire, then automatically bills my paypal account...
i'd probably prefer to purchase a 6 month or one year subscription, but i haven't been able to figure out how to stop the recurring monthly charges....
any help mods/admin?
it's tough for me to predict what weekends i'll be around -- if there is new snow in tahoe, chances are i'll be up there for the weekend
i'll do my best to make it whatever weekend we end up choosing...
i like to get outside. hiking, wakeboarding, snowboarding, golfing, eating & drinking outdoors (yes i'm considering drinking outdoors a hobby).
i watch my fair share of tv too -- football, lost, grey's, prison break, the OC, survivor, studio 60 (thank goodness for DVRs).
@jfreeman, what are 'escape the room' games?
i haven't been paying much attention to the polls, but i thought one of the rules was that the watch could have never been repped before...
if that's not one of the rules, i would have guessed there would be more mainstream watches in the watch polls...
macy's on fifth? not exactly sure where that is (a dozen panerais walking into shreve could be more interesting), but i could be down for a bay area gtg. after the holidays would be best for me...
@usil, i had a similar feeling re: my chrono avenger until i put it on a panerai style sportivo BOB 22/22mm strap w/ brushed OEM style buckle (see pic below). give it a shot -- i think the strap makes the watch on this one. btw, this strap option was inspired by repaustria, who originally put a caramel colored strap on his chrono avenger.

@richard tracy, you're not far off. plenty of hoe's on the delta (especially at lost isle!), but as i'm sure you guessed, the hoe portion belongs to tahoe.
the delta & lake tahoe = my two favorite playgrounds. one for the winter, one for the summer. my avatar is actually a picture of my boat -- it's a 1983 mastercraft stars & bars (two tone khaki & brown).
i'd have to say my 217 -- i picked it up on a whim from sichuan before he vanished -- it was $143 shipped for the asian unitas version with sapphire crystal. it seemed like a cheap way to see if i could wear a 47mm watch like the fiddy. i never would have guessed that it would become one of my favorite watches -- i think it is a unique piece given the large size and destro style (which i really like).
i think this watch is also my favorite watch/strap combination (217 on europelli shell cordovan with gold stitching). the gold stitching looks amazing with the gold hands, and the europelli shell cordovan straps are top notch. many thanks to subzero for thinking of it first (pic below is also his).

sorry for the newbie question (been at this for almost a year now and i am still a noob), but i'm guessing that these datewheels won't work for the 2836 eta version of the pam 36 gmt?
thanks,

i've found myself doing this too, especially on weekends. i wore a t-shirt, down vest and wool hat yesterday because i wanted to have a sporty look that i could wear my 187 with...
hmm...i had added ofrei.com as a favorite under "watch parts" in case i needed something. well, that favorite just got deleted. thanks bill for the heads up.
i never cease to be amazed by the level of service we get from our top dealers here. in many cases, in particular with regard to post-sale issues, they go beyond even the highest levels of customer service.
IMHO, nordstroms and top end boutiques like marc jacobs are the only other retailers that provide a service level that even comes close to what our dealers provide.

note that all wrists are not created equal. people with flat, wide wrists can wear much bigger watches than people with round, cylindrical wrists.
i also have 7.5" wrists, and i'm comfortable wearing 47mm watches -- i have a 217 and recently also picked up a 187. i think part of it is also just getting used to seeing bigger watches on your wrist.
