  1. I worked with BK in great detail in trying to put together a V3 like you describe. We wound up aborting and I decided to live with my V2. The V3/LV case makes fitting a gen crystal / gen insert combo an exercise in finding the correct bezel, or having to do some sanding and modifying of the parts. Even amongst the WM parts, it seemed no two were exactly the same. You could get lucky. In my case, it all "looked" right, but the bezel did not "function" like a gen. YMMV. In the meantime, my V2 with Clarks Crystal, and Gen crown, will simply get a Gen insert and I will call it a day.
  2. Actually, I have been having similar slow-down issues. (Firefox 3.6.3) Most noticeable after a post or hitting 'edit' to go back into a post to fix a typo of mine. Also, I am still experiencing the BLANK page after "Marking All Forum Posts As Read", clearing cookies helped for ONE session, but right back to doing it. Thanks Team!
  3. Have a drink on me.... Happy B-Day
  4. BTW, I discovered Ubi's secret to aging.
  5. Another compliment to Ubi's aging that I don't think many people pay attention to is where there is/should be more wear. If you look closely the right half looks slightly more aged, as well as a bit of the left half. In the real world, the constant "pushing your shirt sleeve back to check the time" will wear the insert more on that side. Likewise a "not quite long enough - long sleeve shirt, or a watch worn low and loose on the wrist" will pick up extra wear and tear on the left side. The least amount of wear should be between 50 and the Pearl. (Speaking about a Right Handed person, wearing on the left wrist of course) Not sure if this was "conscientiously" done by Ubi, but the end result does help emulate "sleeve" wear and tear.
  6. Hate to use the word daily beater, but I figure I will wear the heck out of it and let it pick up some aging. Right now it has the appearance of a "well cared for" almost 40 year old watch that would seemingly have had the crystal / bracelet replaced. BTW: Had this pressure tested for waterproofness. Passed with flying colors. 10 BAR / 100m IIRC.
  7. I predict this will be one of the next Supers out of our usual friends. Wondering if they will get it right/close enough on a v1 though.... Even though this is 42mm it seems to be "thin enough" to wear on a smaller wrist. That has me excited since one of the reasons I sold my SteelFish and BS was the thickness. The only design elements I struggle with (mildly) are what I consider the NASCAR style fonts. But, makes sense from an "Air-Racing" perspective.
  8. Probably the east coast Canal Street crap provider...
  9. Going with by UBI 5513
  10. I love the look of the Helson. Only issue for me is @ 45mm x 18mm high that thing is going to stand off and be a bit top heavy. I fear, minimum wrist size to get away with this is 7.25 and larger. The Zenton reminds me of many of the Seiko "Mods" available. Good stuff either way.
  11. RE: ASKMEN Any magazine/website with word 'Men' in the title is usually a piss poor excuse for a magazine. This applies to 'Mens Health', 'Ask Men', 'Mens Fitness'. These are advertiser driven dribble with half-ass, half-true articles. I think their target audience is high school educated, too chicken to buy Playboy, and too intimidated to buy GQ/Esquire, and buys into "pop" fitness article of the day. (Sorry about the rant, I have been cornered at parties by dumb-dumbs citing the latest diet/fitness/style craze from these rags) As far as PAM popularity goes. I think the gen market is up/steady, and in the rep world people are just trying to cash in on the popularity of pieces not getting worn as much. My local AD has actually 'expanded' their PAM section. More Observations from my local AD: Panerai Section - LARGER Breitling Section - A 'touch' smaller Rolex Section - Same size, but less product on display (could be Basel transition) TAG Section - Same size Jaeger Section - LARGER Chopard Section - LARGER Cartier Section - Same Size Ebel Section - A 'touch' smaller, going back to classic designs Patek Section - Same Size
  12. Excellent... Just got back from Hawaii to find the updates! CG's look awesome. Can't wait to pick it up this weekend! Thanks R!
  13. Quick question for Admin/Mod's. How is RWG handling referrers? Is the obfuscation with "xx" really necessary? +1 Exactly. Speaking of wealth and lifestyle, anyone with a line of credit can walk into a store and buy a Rolex or other high end gen. This is no indication of wealth, money, power, etc... Where can one find said skanks...
  14. OMFG! Excellent. The story so far is we met up just under 5 hours ago. It started out like any shady back-ally deal-- the car was quickly raided by Mrs Ubi, and his two lovely children who were trying to make a fast get away with some root-beer floats. 5 Hours ago, this MBW POLEX 5513 had this dial on it and looked like this: Amazing. I told him to take his time. Evidently, that meant lightspeed.
  15. That would look great on a ladies wrist (or mens).
  16. The person under me owns more than 3 watches...
  17. As far as "numbers" are concerned, I would venture to guess that over 50% of the members (here, there, anywhere) are/were drive-by's on their way to a Sub rep. I would be curious to know the number of members w/over 100 posts/topics. To me those are 'active'.
  18. I never understood the BSP (Blatent Self Promotion) of stats like this. Member Counts. Here, there, or anywhere... Personally, give be quality over quantity. And in the case of "Rep" forums where the content is borderline , I prefer low-profile... I have accounts at all the usual suspects, but RWG is my homebase. In all honesty because it seems to have the lowest "Noise Level" (least amount of BSP, good level of constructive comments, easy to sweep in and Read New Messages in a reasonable amount of time.) Also, the forum software here rocks. I will sale the For Sale section at RG does seem to have a bit more activity, so if buying and selling is your primary goal its a good place to go. RG is more like Vegas RWG is more like Monaco Keep up the good work Admin,
