Let me get this straight-- you took the images from your D60's memory card to some 'intermediary' space??? Spent 2$ on an app, dealt with some old school FTPing, to get them to RWG. By my estimates, not including the 1 time app purchase, this had to be a 5+ minute process. ??? Contrast this with the memory card slot in a laptop or my netbook, in which this could have been accomplished much quicker with $0 spent, and no jumping through hoops. Call me crazy, but I fail to see how this even comes close to rivaling a Note/Netbook. I can just as easily sit in front of the TV with a MacBook, or my eeePC and do it ALL (+flash games, Hulu, et. al.) Just playing devils advocate here.... Edit to add: If the iPad was sub-$200 in price, this would be "all good" IMHO Edit to add 2: By the time I type-- ftp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx hash type binary put somefile.jpg .......My Note/Netbook would have had the image on Imageshack by now...

Good catch Stilty, the pics I posted are for the 4 hand GMT (1675) 3 Ruby. So, yes that ring should be 'cut/ground' back even further. I guess-- long story short, buy something in you budget be it 150x, 160x, TOOL 1680 1665, and worse case grind it back to fit. I went the 1603 route, because I grabbed the whole watch for a deal, then took it to an AD and had the movement serviced while in the DJ case. I am not worried, and have the skills to pop the DW ring and grind it back as needed. In my case I have a serviced movement actually keeping COSC via an AD for LESS than what most people are selling RAW movements. What WE REALLY NEED, is someone like JMB or Stilty to create just these rings. Imagine the interchangeability options.

Ditto, stick with silver. I tried to paint one of these white for my 653x "Homage" - Nightmare. The only way to do it is to strip the lume, light sanding, then airbrush and re-lume. The other option is to go with glit for hour/minute/GMT? and a silver seconds hand. (this is what I did, the contrast between gold and silver makes the silver look white)

For guaranteed compatibility you want the FLAT ring like this (from 1500's. true TOOL Rolexs (1680, 1665, etc). Notice the 1/2 mm from the edge of the retaining ring and the base movement: The others have a date ring that extends out further then SLOPES down at the outside edge for the pie-pan dials. YOU CAN USE THESE, but you will need to remove it and grind the sloped edge back with a Dremel or other tool. Notice how the slope extends almost to the edge of the base movement. Here is the (less than optimal) sloped edge for comparison (from 160x DJs):

Either should be fine. I am looking at building something similar that will be circa late 1970's (5.8mil serial). I have a nice white datewheel that I will most likely stick with. If it were a 'Red' I would be a little more purist. I want to say after 77/78 you are safe.

Yes that Senators 60's is a beauty too. As for the Doxa, seriously consider the "Gen". Usually on sale under $2000 they are worth it. (You could pick up a brand new 1000T for $1400). That is less than many super frankens around here. Also, the orange dial, I doubt they could rep it correctly. In person the dial is incredible.

Bremont is doing some great pieces these days. If the popularity catches on, who knows, REPs???? Lets hope so.

Great site, thanks. What would be great is if something like this was expanded to include: 1.) Hand sizes 2.) Subdial spacing (center subdials to center H/M/S) 3.) Stem height We need a wiki/db. Hand size is my #1 would be nice to know.
