  1. Wicked cool. I have never seen one until your post. I am still kicking around selling my Gen black dialed version.
  2. Grail for sure! The Canadians customs loss kills me. Did you you have to prove to someone it was real? Great watch!
  3. Interesting. I think this is more of a reflection on the current speed of life, and state of technology. Zoom out- things are moving pretty fast these days. We expect a new iPhone or other tech item every year. Technological advances everywhere bring things to market quicker, and in the case of reps, with incredible accuracy. I think we have simply reached the point on the graph where the line is going nearly vertical. Excellent reps are expected, they exist, not much else to do but grab-n-go. Commodity? Accessibility is there too, so when 10 people get the new PAM in the same month-- wham-bam-thank you ma'am. Here are some pics, a quick discussion, and move along. The poor guy who picks one up 4 months later is simply old-hat. I honestly don't come here looking for "Reps" anymore, or even care that much what is happening in that space. I come here for the WIS Knowledge base, and to see what "creations" we are are making. To me this is a WATCH forum that happens to be Rep friendly. Crazy Idea: We are also bad hosts at times. Too often we are quick to dismiss something because it has been discussed before and yell at people to use the Search function. So here is my crazy idea-- NUKE the majority of archived, historical posts. Half the stuff is out of date anyway. Press the RESET button on the forum and see what "re-grows" organically.
  4. So does this mean it is OK to take a baseball bat / sledgehammer to: Beck Spyder REPLICA: Cobra REPLICA I fscking hate double standards.
  5. Not really. Just working within the context of non-REP, non-Homage alternative to a PAM. This is a watch forum, not just a REP forum.
  6. Hell R, it's summer time. I am finding this hobby to be more of a rainy day / winter thing myself. I have actually tried to make a conscience effort to stay off the internet on weekends. Your collection is rock star, I think I would take pause myself if I had your wares. Take the kids to the pool.
  7. Very cool. The GMT hand you choose works well, I am on the fence about the seconds hand... I wonder how 5517 Sword Hands would pair?
  8. The only real "GEN / Non-Homage" alternative to PAM is Anonimo.
  9. Tighter than my old Prom Date. ...seriously though, it was tight and the retaining ring needed pressed.
  10. Very True, but sometimes there is a disconnect between an order and what goes to the shipping department. No one monitors every transaction, and if the item is a paid in full, authorized CC transaction, the shipping ticket might print to someone only concerned with getting it out the door. Sears notoriously has jacked up computer systems. It is plausible for an order to be processed, and the shipping dept get the pull and ship request. BUT, now that they have been alerted, any such system gap will be closed.
  11. Yep, pretty much an ETA Quartz in both the Breitling and the VSA. Just like the old Navitimers were Valjoux 7753's, with a few in-house mods. It kills me when I see cool watch like some of the Chopard's at my AD selling for $7000 with a run of the mill or COSC 7750.
  12. I am sure the insurance investigators will be watching eBay auctions and Craigslist like a hawk. Beware NEW/Modern Rolex's selling without B&P.
  13. No offense, but this is pretty subjective, and depends on the wide array Epoxy's and differing Loctite's available. #290 was originally marketed as a "Adhesive/Sealant (wicking) for locking and sealing fasteners, welds and porosities.". Straight from the OLD bottle I have in front of me. On the flip side if I used an Epoxy like JB Weld on a tube, good luck removing it without tearing out the case threads to the point where they could not be chased. There is no right answer, but I would err on the side of maintaining serviceability. On the 1665 topic, short of a Double Red, I LOVE THE "SERVICE T-39" This watch is watertight.
  14. Without a doubt! Curious, did you see the BluRay transfer or DVD. I am debating if the upgrade to BR is worth it?
  15. Why bring undo attention? I would have let it ride, and see if it slipped through the cracks. ALERTING them to the issue will KILL it for sure.
  16. I just successfully placed an order for the 32gb version. Wait and See.
  17. Great watches. I actually like the SA you posted better than the Breitling Emergency / Aero. (I can't get passed the NASCAR fonts on some of the Breitlings ) A good quality watch. I occasionally rock my grab-n-go Vintage Chrono...
  18. Nice tutorial. I have felt this pain way too often. My OCD is similar, and on said watches, I only will wear them on days the DW is in alignment. LOL. I tend to use 28 as a key number since it tends to fill the majority of the window. Actually, I use 28, 19, 11, and 3 (for flat tops)
  19. While a good brute force solution, this makes future replacement of parts difficult. I have not had any issues with WR using Loctite #290. #290 also allows for easy removal with the heat from a soldering iron. I use Nanuq's added Silcone grease on the top side as well with great success. I have managed to build 4 water tight frankens using nothing more than good/correct gaskets for the respective gen/rep parts, Loctite #290, and Silicon Grease. On a side note a 3 ATM passed watch is technically NOT SWIM worthy. There is a difference between "PRESSURE" and "FLUID / Movement thru Water"
