Nice tutorial. I have felt this pain way too often. My OCD is similar, and on said watches, I only will wear them on days the DW is in alignment. LOL.
I tend to use 28 as a key number since it tends to fill the majority of the window. Actually, I use 28, 19, 11, and 3 (for flat tops)
While a good brute force solution, this makes future replacement of parts difficult.
I have not had any issues with WR using Loctite #290. #290 also allows for easy removal with the heat from a soldering iron.
I use Nanuq's added Silcone grease on the top side as well with great success.
I have managed to build 4 water tight frankens using nothing more than good/correct gaskets for the respective gen/rep parts, Loctite #290, and Silicon Grease.
On a side note a 3 ATM passed watch is technically NOT SWIM worthy. There is a difference between "PRESSURE" and "FLUID / Movement thru Water"
The Mountain Lions from my neck of the woods can take baby Polar and cute Koala...
There are lots of bears and lions that come into Boulder, CO these days. The lions love small dogs. The bears love garbage.
She has a good reputation on some of the other homage/builders forums. Chances are, IF they are real Swiss they are OLD Stock from somewhere, and possibly needing a service sooner than later. Otherwise, strong possibility they are Asian ETA's.
I have been meaning to post this for sometime, and I think I saw someone wearing a WM9 "in the wild" last week. (If you own an "Adjustment Bureau" T-Shirt chime in)
I have had two WM9 Dialed 16610's pass through my hands. One thing I noticed about both of them, is they seemed to have a lot of BROWN in the "Black Mix" of the paint. I predict WM9 dials will naturally age to Tropic dials.
That said, I tend to think modern Rolex 16610's paint is much more resilient these days then in the past. In other words, I don't see the same brown hues in modern Rolex dials. I also doubt a Rolex made in the last 10 years would ever turn Tropic.
I am not sure where I am going with this as it is largely circumstantial. All I can say, is I think I identified a 16610 REP from about 12 feet away based on this nuance in dial color. (I could be wrong).
-Can anyone else see the brown hue in their WM9 dials?
-Does anyone think a modern 16610 would ever go Tropical?
-Any paint mixologists out there who can educate us on Blue/Grey/Black hues -vs- Brown/Black hues when coming up with black paint? Modern UV resistance?
Cheers!
