  1. Beware the "REPS" / Fakes. What I found, when I did a cross country trip on my BMW GS,-- use the FOAM TIPS for maximum noise isolation. (I used Shures back then) Also, not sure how much you 'vote' with your wallet, but google "monster cable lawsuits bullies". In short, they sue anyone with "Monster" in their name. From Auto Repair shops, to websites. However, there is no question the MDTs and even the Monster Dr. Dre Beats are excellent products.
  2. This is exactly what I am hoping for as well. None the less, sorry to hear about the project.
  3. Check out BOB or Panatime for OEM style/spec straps. Also, from time to time you can find Gen PAM straps on eBay for a deal. GEN/OEM Size straps should do the trick.
  4. Oldest surviving: 1986 "Quartz" 1680... Ok, NOT good. But 25 years old and will run with fresh battery. 1995 "True Japanese Miyota 8215" Submariner. Passable from 10' away. I wore this watch regularly over 13 years. It is just now starting to run slow, and I can tell is dry and gummy inside.
  5. If it is an AS Movement (vintage), it will be impossible to find "Rolex Style" hands for it as the AS's use 90/130/22 -vs- ETA 90/150/25 -vs- DG/Miyota 100/152/17. Minute hand is only common denominator. You also need to take in consideration of stem alignment.
  6. It would probably be a hit with the Hipster crowd.
  7. So is it 'safe' to say: 24-703 "Original" w/Crimped construction w/bigger crown closer dots to crown. 24-703 "Monoblock" aka 704 w/dots appearing further away. As such, if you sent ANY Trip-Lock Submariner in for service to a RSC today, it would comeback with a 24-7034 Monoblock and supporting tube?
  8. The B.O.C. One is a nice Homage. Even if you don't care for this sort of modification, I think it is a GOOD THING for our hobby, and the watch world in general. The more "Modified Gen Rolex's" in the wild, the better. The more people having GENs serviced by independents who may choose to use "Aftermarket" service parts the better. While I can appreciate an unmolested "Winder/Safe Queen w/B&P", lets mess with the purists who think using NON-Rolex hands, inserts or bracelets is a cardinal sin. The more muddy the water, the better... IMHO. This also sends a big Fsck You you to Rolex and their control freak nature.
  9. Hmmm, one look at that watch and it screams FAKE to me. Date, Logo/Text position, Crown. However, I would not mind getting a hold of that bracelet.
  10. 2 for Tuesday: Mr. Ronin Mrs. Ronin
  11. +1 As Rolex's parts distribution to independent watchmakers gets stricter and stricter, the use of aftermarket (note: aftermarket does not mean fake) parts will become more commonplace. Furthermore, without a macro photo or loop, no one is going to notice an aftermarket second hand while on your wrist.
  12. Looks cool. I am a little confused on its functions. Looking at the dial it has a 12hour timer, a day of week (but no date???), and I assume the top button engages a basic 60 second stop watch tied to the 12 hour timer? Again, looks good, but confused to its operation.
  13. Great Post. A keeper.
  14. Very cool. I dare say, I like it a little better than the Tudor Heritage.
  15. What's with all the seeming grim news in the watch world these days. MBK passed away Noel Fuller passed away And the health of two other watchmakers I know is failing... Sad news,
  16. Priceless at 4 minute mark onward....
  17. ???? Based on: The rep world does need this kind of attention with PP, nor this attitude amongst us good people.
  18. @LHOOQ and N6 - I want an 026 now.
  19. Consider-- There are no good/quality 14060 Replicas out there. If you open the back and it has a GEN movement, you are good. The dial size on these is also different from a 16610. It is smaller. I have said before, "serviceable parts" does NOT make a Rolex fake or less authentic IMHO. So, Hands, and Inserts alone are NOT ENOUGH to 'fail' a watch IMHO. Especially if it has ever been serviced by an independent watchsmith.
