  1. Thanks for the info in this post - I'd wondered why it was green tinted sapphire!
  2. Just have to be careful as over time gold does wear smooth! Mind you, if you're with her that long she'll probably be demanding an Eternity Ring so losing the pattern in these will be the least of your worries lol
  3. I've never been particularly keen on them, probably mainly because of the 'stigma' attached to them (you have to be a flash bastard to own one etc etc) but having been looking at them on here I'm becoming increasing attracted to them, bizarrely for some of the very reasons I didn't like them before! I like their classic style and I do believe that you pay for a certain level of engineering that goes into each piece (although I accept you're paying a lot for the label) but it's also the fact that they seem like more of an investment - there will always be a market for good used gens. I'm gutted I missed the WM9/BK SD pre-order so am going to look out for the DSSD version. I'm also liking the Submariner, the DateJust, the DayDate, the Explorer...
  4. I'm still undecided if I'd prefer to go for an unbranded but really good looking watch or if I'd rather have a rep of good quality but medium accuracy. I'm seriously thinking that I might order one or even both of the watches in this thread, either way! I'm just awaiting a reply from the site re: any customs issues and any discounts...
  5. Would you be able to post a side by side picture of both of the dials? That would be really useful!
  6. Have you read this thread? http://www.rwg.cc/members/Narikaa-42mm-PO-black-t91573.html This should answer most questions about quality and closeness to the gen! I am thinking about getting one as a first rep - for the money I don't think you can really go wrong
  7. You have excellent taste They look like perfect gift material - reasonable price but excellent quality.
  8. As he can do A7750 graphite treatment I may have to consider the IWC 3714 I want...
  9. I was thinking about it as a cheap and cheerful foray into Panerai -
  10. I'm sure I got the link off here (was it flavor flav who set up business??) but I was looking at some of the lum-tec stuff this week. I'm liking the B1 Combat! QC seems to be excellent from what I've read but they're not cheap compared to some of the alternatives. Are they worth the extra? The B1 is what I've been looking for but it's only running an Asian movement (although rebuilt) so I'm just looking for confirmation that they're a safe bet really... Thanks for any advice! (I did do a search but couldn't find any specific threads on the make so apologies if I'm re-posting!)
  11. Bell&Ross - BR01 for you, BR03 or a BR-S for her Not sure the BR03 ceramics have been repped though... lol
  12. From what I can make out, I don't think they do - check lani's pic, below!
  13. Dammit, lani - I was keen on the white face version but now I'm undecided... LoL Just been looking up some stuff on the gen versions - still looking at about c.US$10k for the black face or US$40k for the Limited Edition white face! I presume because the LE version is platinum not SS. The only major differences I can see are the numerals, as you point out, and also the gen movement is 18800bph not 21600bph, but at this price point I think it can be forgiven lol I don't think we're going to see one 'in the wild' so are unlikely to be called out!
  14. Er... Is that sarcasm? I can't tell.
  15. Cool, thank you very much
  16. Differences apparent to me, a n00b, are DW font, Bezel font, colour of lume?, width of the lume surrounds?, feet on the text... I'm going with the one on the right being gen!
  17. Have you got any wrist shots of this? I'm seriously tempted to pull the trigger on it... Just to check, it's this one we're talking about? http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=3939 Would it be possible to swap the movement to, perhaps, a decorated skeleton 3620 movement? Or a Swiss ETA Unitas 6498? Thanks in advance
  18. lol Sorry Thank you very much, Hike - it does look good! re: its_urabus's post, I saw a gen Explorer this week and couldn't take my eyes off it in the meeting I never used to like Rollies but I'm starting to appreciate their classic looks!
  19. Nice! I seriously hope I have some spare cash next month for one of these...
  20. Nice, I've not seen this one on the board before - have you got any head-on photos?
  21. I do like this a lot, but I still can't get the 3714 out of my head... lol At least this one should be more reliable due to the less-stressed movement!
  22. But imageshack is slowwwwwwwww (at least at my end lol)
  23. I use FastStone Viewer - it does literally everything you could ask of it. Lossless rotation, re-sizing, watermarking, tweaking of pictures, cropping, batch converting... I'm not sure if you can get it off CNET but a quick google usually turns it up. I wouldn't be without it!!
  24. Take the gen then just keep on buying reps. When she says "That's new!!" just tell her that it's not and you've had it in the back of the wardrobe for ages. That's what women do for shoes and handbags lol
