In the catalogue the orange does run all the way round to 3 but it is a very thin line and not like the picture posted further up. It is absent from Josh's pics completey but to me this is a small flaw and reps will always have them without exceptoin. Perfection can never be atained and I stopped looking for it long since. Major flaws are different of course but very slight one s are not a worry really on your wrist.
-
I have the IWC catalogue in front of me and I cannot really see a flaw to worry about. I much prefer this one and I think I'll now pull the trigger. They have even copied the book showing nuber 0001 of the 2500 series. The orange looks spot on in the book.

I placed an order and received an email back from them with an order reference number and an eamil form George arrived later saying pics of the final watch would be available before the weekend. The message about delays was there and no option to pay the $499 offer price was available like you say in your post. I'm not holding my breath on this really.
-
I plumped for one from Eddie as it looks pretty good straight out of the box in the pics he has posted. all the basics are there to tweak it. I will still look to complete the order with WM9 as well as he says pics will be sent out today or tomorrow so we will see!

THe Ferrari models have only internal AR which becomes apparent under strong sunlight and halogen lighting. Omega are the same with the SMP's. You get reflection under certain conditions on the genuine watches and the reps.
-
What is Eddie asking? I received a reply from George(watchmaker9) this morning saying final pics will be emailed to me on Thursday or Friday. I wonder if Eddie or Neil can remove the insert to show the bezel construction.

The watch in the pics has never seen China!! 100% real, no doubts.

I'm having a go at $499 jus to see what happens and ordered one earlier this week. I'm happy to be a guineapig for the board on this one. I'm in the fortunate position not to miss the money if it does not work out and will be able to confirm or deny the details if it ever comes off which I doubt at this stage. I received an order number but nothing else. I also stated I would only complete the order subject to detailed pictures of the finsihed model including bracelet. Time will tell!

There is one here for sale in the members section in a complete watch!!
-
I too am thinking about this project and I think you need the cal. 400 31 jewel movement. I'm sure our resident experts will confirm in particular Ubi.
-
I've just bought this very bracelet and should receive it tomorrow and will look when I'm back in the UK next week. I think the weight and feel will be better with the solid centre links and it really does'nt bother me and I still have 571 end links from my DW daytona. I will report next week.

Are the Swiss Cousteaus Overall Better than the Asians?
watcher replied to Alan_Schezar's topic in The IWC Area
On my genuine 3706 Fleigerchrono the font is as used on a standard Valjoux 7750 as that is the base movement before IWC do there thing to it. I'm guessing the differences are very small. The biggest thing I see is that the date/day apertures appear slightly bigger on a genuine IWC and that gives a better view of the print. -
LV not Limited; GMT "Pepsi" going out of production
watcher replied to jomama's topic in The Rolex Area
The LV was never intended to be limited as far as I'm aware. I bought and sold mine long since when they fetched nearly double retail on Ebay. Nice watch though and one that has grown on me since. -
I have placed my order with Angus who has already sold the first batch of asia models, not sure on the swiss version as I have spare Valjoux movements to fit myself. So it would appear that there are p;lenty of takers for this watch as I would have expected regardless of the higher price tag. Some dealers are charging between $350-$400 for a so called perfect Sub and they are total crap!!!! so why not pay and little more and have something that is not as common as muck!!! and pretty well spot on for a rep straight out of the box.
-
Having handled the genuine model last week I will most likely stump up for the swiss movment example! $788 seems high for a rep but not in the context of a quality looking timepeice with a swiss chronograph movement inside. Very beautiful looking, IWC are growing on me very much since I bought my 3706 two weeks ago.

The only issue now is Parcelforce who deliver the package once in the U.K. In 4 years and a hell of a lot of watches my only problem came last week with my first IWC Pilot3717 from Eddie. Customs are not a problem but Parcelforce lost my watch and they admitted it. My delivery guy who I now know quite well says not to write sport watch on the package as this draws attention and there are some dodgy workers now within the company who wil steal them. Eddie's guys wrote this on both watches and I was lucky with the second one as the packaging was the worst ever received and I will not buy again from him because of the crappy forwarder he uses! Eddie also said the problem is increasing but on the whole it is the safest place in the world to import. They have far more pressing worries than a few dodgy watches!!

TW best for sure. A good base watch to mod.

Thanks!! The watch is very good. On the negative side I don't think the bracelet feels as crisp as it should and also it's lighter weight than the gen but still good for a rep. I have taken some pics along side my gen3706 and will post them later on when I'm not so tired! One comment though about the AR coating. It may not be as strong as the genuine 3717 but it is stronger than my 3706 in the same conditions. It is very effective under strong sunlight and bright halogen lights on both watches. I have now corrected the the sub dial hands and the asian movement is running well. I will change to swiss soon but I'm going to wear it for a few days first. Sorry guys I have very little time to do my own odds and ends watchwise and can't unforunately take on any work for other members plus I'm not so confident with other guys watches!!!!! If I bugger mine it my loss but I would not be good with another man's goodies! or ladies for that matter!

I can confirm that ETA date and day wheels fit the asia7750. I received my watch today and stripped it down and fitted the new wheels inside. Ignore the chrono hands. I have got them out of alignment but wanted to post a pic of the improved date font.
-
My 3717 is about to land on my runway at last. It is out of for delivery today and I can't wait to finally see this watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
It is a small watch by modern standards but I absolutely love it. It is so comfy to wear. I had the rep of this and the dial flaws now become very clear to me. I no longer have the watch but the rep had: Glossy dial rather than matte No white circles on the 12 and 6 dials Day/date apertures were smaller Numbers on the subdials were not as bold Main hands a re thicker on the gen Rep subdial had concentric cirlces, gen does not. The crown on my gen has the 'Probus Scafusa script, the rep just had a fish symbol but I've seen gens with that. Mine may have been changed when overhauled. The pushers are thicker on the Genuine watch. The bracelet on the rep is like the 3717 design but the Gen has different links and the pins are much more substantial on the gen. Other than that it is very good!
-
Do we know if these gen date wheels fit the asia 28800bph movement without modding. I may fit these to my asia model if yes instead of going to the expense of another 7750swiss. I want to use that in a Cousteau when I get one! I can also confirm that the date font is exact to the IWC as the base movement they use is a 7750 and is identical to my 3706 date/date wheel. I assume the 3717 is the same base movement as the 3706.

The PO looks way better on Rubber!!! Wearing my new eyecandy today and everyday for a while as I have reps currently in my collection(hopefully my 2nd 3717 will arrive this week!)
-
I've waited so long for my 3717 rep that I could'nt resist this beauty and bought it today. It's not new but has just come back from IWC after a ful overhaul and is like new. Not the biggest watch in the world but beautifully made and the bracelet must be the best fit of any watch and so comfortable to wear! I swapped my Submariner for this and love it to bits. I bit more special than a Rolex I think! Hopefully Eddie's Pilot special will arrive Monday(2nd one after the first went missing in customs!!) and I will take side by side pics to show the size difference.

A fair complaint that is yet to be resolved actually. Some members continually moan and I'm getting pretty sick of reading meaningless irritating posts about nothing but rubbish half the time and I'm slowly loosing interest in this particular board as a re others I think!
