  1. I am not a Breitling man but I have the serie speciale as well... The Asian that is. Supernice... The flaws on the speling on the caseback don't bother me... Other slight mistakes are the silver subdial hands should be black and the 1000m etc numbers rim are to small... The watch is beautiful with the doomed crystal.
  2. Yikes... That gens shot is one sick mofo.... If I could just have 1... just 1...
  3. With a bit of trial and error you could use the gen big screws that come with the movement... just make the bevel deep enough so the fit under the lip... the challenge is to get them there... of course you can make clamps that stick easier... but this would make it fake again...
  4. Thanks for stepping up Fred... I remember but just didn't take the time to recollect yesterday as I was to excited that this worked out... The best improvement that is indeed... Thanks for sharing... I still look for the alternative of buying a whole watch which you have to rip apart just for the valve... as they only come in the swiss versions... a rivet huh... Still cooking on that one... @ Tribal: Yes I am looking for a silver datewheel... not the ones on the bay...these suck or go way to expensive 220$ (150 EUR) @ admin: Is there a possibility of bookmarking interesting threads because searching will not always find what you have discovered earlier...
  5. Fitting a genuine 1570 Rolex movement in a MBW 1665 is an relatively easy job. Remember a replica is still a replica with this movement. But as we are all watch enthousiasts and THE big challenge in rep world is striving to 99,9 perfection... this is an interesting mod. You will not see this movement from the outside so the feeling resides in your head that at least the engine is 100%. Wel off to this mod.... My 1570 comes from a 72 hacking non quick setdate Rollie 1601... This could be the correct movement for a DRSD and a WSD (since a lot of the DRSD's got redialed by Rolex when serviced). This is the set. I am missing hands. Good aftermarkets are on the way (still widely available). The dial fits straight on the movement. Unfortunately did MBW cut of the feet, but you can still see the correct position of the feet. Maybe I will have them put on again. For now we need those sticky dots (that I will do later). Modded case and movement.... Haha... perfect the movement has a diameter of 28,5 and the case as well... should fit straight in and it does!!!! Sad enough the stem is not aligned exactly... but the difference is minimal.... You can see where the movement rests on... It is the second ring of the case. The first is reserved for the dial... This needs adjusting The angle on the movement can be shaped with a small swiss diamond file in 45 min to make the movement sink a bit deeper in the case so the stem aligns and the oscilating weight stays clear of the caseback... Now thats much better! The result... It took a total of a few hours and is not a big mod to do.... Lets say that CG's are about the same difficulty level. I will show final result pictures once the correct datewheel and hands are installed. Now all that is left is the Gas Escape Valve... There is a explanation around here... Oli does them in a tremendous way!! Well Oli I hope this post is the answer I owed you...
  6. I have seen that the crystal backs are ffered on the bay... I don't know if it is for the 1665
  7. That woud be a 1,2mm screwdriver... By the way resetting yur keyless is fun to do and very doable... I am no expert and did it last week... Something else... I have time for the 1570 project tonight and I will take some pics. Lets see if the stem aligns.
  8. Thanks all... the good news.... the movement fits straight into the MBW case... Seems like no milling is needed in theory... 28,5mm both... should be a very precise fit... Now I have to try with dial to see if there are no side obstaces and if the stem aligns... This weekend I take pics
  9. They are here... My Rolex 1570 movement for the MBW DRSD and my VJ72 for the DW Daytona Paul Newman. I see serious work ahead... The 1570 movement has a 28,5 mm diameter and so does the MBW case... If I only knew how to release the stem I could try to fit it... Any tips...
  10. So I did some searching cause I saw it once. A post on the correct Sub/SD/Daytona tube inserting tool for Rolex. I just can't find it anymore... (Administrator can you find a bookmarking tool for interesting threads... The search engine is insufficient....) Anyway I saw an A&F on Ebay but RWG told me it sucks. Cousins and Ofrei are out of stock... What options are left. I don't want mcGiver solutions because I tried those all and messed up 3 20$ tubes in the process. Is there anybody that has the good tool and is willing to sell it or if they don't want to sell maybe just even lend it. I need it 1 week and can return it worldwide per registered airmail. Tips are welcome. Thanks.
  11. Yep I just took the shot with night color on my MBW DRSD and MBW WSD. Actually I used the stuff without diluting and without ocre. Just straight from the pot with a toothpick. Great results... Best tip ever on RWG.
  12. Yep it was a bit trial and error but after 2 hours with my nose on the keyless it finally sorted out. Once you did it it's easy... but only because you disassemble 23 pieces and no more... If you do like The Zigmeister then you need a looooooooooooooooooot more practice... haha
  13. Thanks Raijor that thread made my day... I disassembled and reassembled the whole keyless! Works like a charm again...!!!
  14. Haha its not the first time I mess up a keyless anyway. I remember my first disassembly not using the correct tool... a needle to reease the stem and I overpushed. Thanks to RWG I repaired it myself. I have quiet some experience in disassembly now but got caught by surprise on this one!!! No idea what has happened... This is a 2836 from cousins... brand new... Well I sort it out...
  15. I have a problem with my ETA 2836-2. The stem is not pullable anymore. When turning all I can do is set the date. No more winding and no more setting time. I have pulled the stem to do datewheel and dial work. When I pushed in the stem again it clicked and got stuck in 1 position... the datesetting position. I can now just release the stem as a whole (the normal way with the 1,2 screwdriver or click it in and have a datesetting position. I think I messed up the keyless work. Any tips on how to repair? Thanks.
  16. Good but risky method.... I use double folded tape....
  17. Wow that is one beauty... I am exactly in the same process at this moment. Have the same special crown...It took ages indeed to have found it. Now that is a nice solution for the tube... but is there so much meat on the tube that it can be slimmed down that much... Really drastic indeed but wort the while if I see your result! Great tip! Watcher do you mind sharing where you have found the bezel... I am looking for one like that.... please PM me. There is one thing left for your project IMHO. That is a coronet transplant. I am really impressed with your results. Wear it in good health... By the way what tool do you use to insert the tube?
  18. My girl dropped her datejust and cracked the glass. Its a Josh Datejust. Anybody know which tropic I need and where to get one... Ofrei, Cousins, Ebay and what number... Is it difficult to replace yourself or is it glued... Please help.
  19. Pushers are definatey not assym... just draw a line from the center of the top pusher to the 2 oclock marker and from bottom one to 4 oclock. Both in the middle. With vj72 it is top and top... Fake! Anyway if you are selling a watch like this you would surely show the terrific movement...
  20. Sounds like a gen movement for 850$ is the best solution!!! Will this fit?
  21. It looks ok but very cheap. I am no expert but where can one get the 2893 still... I am looking for a source... if the price is right... Andrew and Josh sell them in a GMT rep.
  22. If the screw screws both ways you are screwed. Hope the right strap is in lace so you can enjoy the pretty watch. The scratches can be buffed out (when they are not too deep) with buffing polish and dremel.
  23. There is this guy on TZ that sells them... do a search on TZ in the sales section 'tropic' because I don't have his email here at hand.... I try and look it up if you want.
  24. 8 reps, 4 gens now wanting a 1675 gen and 8 additional reps on my list... Quality over quantity. Best rep is the MBW DRSD (now sourcing a gen movement for it but it will always be a rep) and great white. I love the ferrari rep. Best gen so far is my IWC Porsche design based 7750. I love modding reps... gens you just buy and wear... modding is the big part of the fun...
  25. I have exacty the same issue with the datewheel. We are talking very small margins. So I found a solution. The vinyl sticker is flexible so I wrote down which numbers were of center and to what extend. Then I took of the dial and pushed with my finger (a bit dirty so the sticker would look more authentic) on the numbers towards the direction to center. Put the dial back on and tried a full month cycle. There where still off redone the process. Until it was good. Now it is fine. My problem is that the dial pushes the datewheel so sometimes it does not slide that well. The flat top is sooooo much more beautiful! The MBW default is just to tiny and thin.
