  1. I think I did not mention but I bought this one because it is the one that my watchmaker has been running for over 20 years now. He still uses it daily. It is specially for professionals. Thats why I choose it. These MTE machines have been around longer than I have been myself.
  2. Just thought I let the serious collectors know here that I have invested in and tested my watchwinder for two weeks now and it's excellent, relatively cheap and very, very quiet. It is a professional unit but for 199 eur you can wind 4 watches on it... take a few extra springs and change the watches for each night. It will keep them all running. There is a time-switch with it that goes in the socket (I bought a digital one for 10 eur here in NL). Every time it comes on the winder changes direction. It looks so cool... so industrial It is the MTE from www.timedesign.de for those who are interested. I have been looking for nice affordable high quality winder for so long and this just seems to cut the cake.
  3. BT He that looks good on you my friend! Is that the cristmas special LOL
  4. Right... I do miss a fiddy and a Radiomir... and IWC 3717 to be exact... Maybe the IWC Cousteau diver 2007 as well. Enough to collect still... lucky me... About the Don strap... no I used a Panatime buckle. It is fine. The Ferrari buckle sits bad on the wrist and irritates... exaclt like the gen... I tried on a rattrapante last week.
  5. Just in the mood for some pictures so here they are: Gen 1675 from 1971 MBW 1665 great white Sea Dweller with gen Rolex 1570 movement, #39 superdome, gen insert, crown and loads of mods... MBW 1665 DRSD fully modded and with Ubi datewheel and #39 dome plexi DW 6263 Paul Newman with Wakmann vj72 movement and gen crown and #21 tropic Beautiful Ferrari Scuderia 08 with DON lambskin strap Gen IWC Porsche Design PVD prototype vj7750 from 1981. This watch was given to my father back in 81 by a business partner who was given the watch by the Porsche dealer when he bought his new Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo. He thought is was to chunky and so did my father. He gave it to me and this watch has seen the most wristtime of my life. This exact same watch was also worn by Tom Cruise in the Top Gun movie. Thats how my watch love has started. Gen Roamer Stingray Diver vj23 from '63. Gorgious watch... very weird box in a box system to make it waterproof. Gen Zodiac Seawolf from 1968. Very rare 36000 BPH automatic. In super original excellent condition. Gen Seiko based Bill Yao MKII military. Just a fun watch. Rep Cartier Santos 100 Chrono. Compared it to a gen last week. Wow scary precise exept for the deeper datewheel. I like it but it is BIG 44mm and square... A bit to big for my wrist IMHO. Rep Breitling Navitimer Fighter Edition. Just superb watch. My collegue has a gen white Navitimer and last week told me he actually likes mine better. Of course I told him its a rep but he still likes the looks. Rep Rolex GMT2 wrong handstack Eta 2836. Still going strong after 2 years on the watchwinder. Good old gen Citizen Aqualand. My real diverswatch because it has depth gauge, temp sensor and diving warning systems. That it... what do you think is the best....
  6. Breitling Navitimer sucked at first now it is right next to my rollie 1675,1665,IWC and ferrari08
  7. Wow... I have set the time 24 hours ago to the atom clock... and I just found out it is still exactly the same... its seems to be running +/- 0 secs a day. Nice!
  8. After liking the Rolex GMT 1675 for so long and not being able to find a good rep of it I pulled the trigger on TZ and bought a gen '71 1675. Really you could buy 15 decent reps from the amount. BUT It arrived and I don't want to sound like a spoiled kid and the watch is gorgious but it looks so reppie to me. There is an original folded bracelet which rattles like a snake in the desert and feels so light. They polished the thing and its very newish shiny especially the bracelet. Insert new, tropic new... You can see the decency but still it looks to nice for a almost 40 year old watch! Well here are some pics... What do you think is it 100% gen or do you see abnormalities....
  9. Striving for perfection... honestly hope we will never achieve... The hole forum would lose its value...
  10. The caseback that normally comes with the MBW (straight above the middle) is the one that should go on de DRSD. Fact is that the majority of the DRSDdials were interchanged for whites in the time when serviced by Rolex officially. So they should actually been DRSD. So the MBW caseback on the DRSD and the WSD 1665 could both be believable. Fact is that of the 'correct' version there is no rep... so if a watch has the rounded caseback 99% it is gen.
  11. Glad that mine was just serviced and timed and regulated... All parts were in excellent condition nonetheless it set me 250 EUR back. Watchsmittie promised me to be without probs for 3-5 years... We'll see by then.
  12. Mine are fine... The Mercedes hand needs to be a bit convex to... The clarcks hands can be bend on a pen tip.. so I did... Convex now. Nightcolor and thats it.
  13. Now that The Zigmeister is taking time off it appears that his posts took some time off as well. I was looking for the ETA and Valjoux hand sizes post he once set up so profi but can not find that anymore. Well I can find the post but it is empty. What happened... the whole knowledge base seems to have disappeared... Me no like
  14. Pimped stuff... fugly is cool as hell I guess... Notta my styley... capiche
  15. DH, Congrats... I think I have the fever... Actually I liked the yellowish markers so I spend a lot of time finding that one... And I did find it last weekend on TZ. It's a Pepsi as well with the folded bracelet... '71 in pristine condition I supose. Awaiting it's arrival... I will shoot some pics when it comes... You have a perfect EXAMPLE there.
  16. Fitting the gen 1570 is relatively easy. I did a writeup a while back... just search on 1570. Anyway here is the link... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...253&hl=1570
  17. By-Tor, Glad to see happy with it. Pictures are amazing. I just didn't get to wear it a lot due to the other pieces in my collection. Wish we could wear ten a the same time. Hope you enjoy it! I still have the gen hands available for you if you want them. Just PM me. They don't fit the movement so maybe better superlume the rep ones. I compared them and they look exactly like the gens. It was a pleasure dealing with you.
  18. I am from Holland too and always let the sender use registered airmail... no ' courier' like Fedex, EMS etc. I had one watch confiscated (a DW 6263 case) but never received a letter form customs. I seriously doubt whether DW has send it at all because the tracking number never worked. With reps its part of the risk...although it is a tiny one.
  19. I have two reps that keep pulling me.... heavy modded 1665 with gen 1570 movement and superdome and the Ferarri 08. The last one I have considered buying the real deal... but after seeing the rep I bailed out and saved me 8k. That is even a better feeling then spending it! But I am dutch you know...
  20. Rob, I read your post and did not read through all the replies. Two remarks from me: - YOU are THE watch professional on this forum in my book - You are of extreme value for this forum Please don't feel bad because of peoples post or attitude. For each his own and I really hope to see your avatar around a lot... I usually scan posts by avatars... I always keep my eye for that first flight avatar. Thanks. Stay healthy.
  21. Does anyone know who this guy is trying to sell datediscs for a sh$tload of money.. Can we join forces and produce these... I have a gen (champagne) version available for exact copy... Then we put them in the market for $40. Thats where he sold them for last year... http://cgi.ebay.com/Silver-Date-Disk-f-Rol...1QQcmdZViewItem
  22. I also heard that the gen of this version does not exist... according to an IWC freak I know...
