It was over a year ago, and gplracer was the very first guy to tell me, "Hey, I heard DW's working on a 7032 kit. We should know more about it after Chinese New Year." My first thought was, "Pffftt... Ready after Chinese New Year? Suuure it will..." Congratulations on getting it done, B!

I'd like to replace the pump pushers on my DW 6239 with a couple of units purchased from Ofrei (PD 61.701). These are 4mm at the head, 2.5mm at the thread. Normally, these should screw right into the DW case, but... not in this particular case! It screws in by about one turn, and that's as far as it goes. The pusher holes need to be re-tapped, but I'm not sure what the correct tap size should be. Help!

Tudor 7032 for most of the day, but a new arrival out-oranged and out-Seventies'd the Homeplate:

Unless you plan on swapping your 1171 between the SM300 and the other watches, I recommend very slightly pinching the endlinks to get a better fit between the lugs. I found that 633s straight out of the plastic aren't a perfect fit on either the SM300 or the Speedmaser; some bending and some sanding of the sides did a world of good. Beautiful trio! I would love to have a nice Railmaster as my third, though a Ranchero will work, too.

RWG seems like Shutter Island! Guys need mental help!

The biggest knock on RWG is that we're low on drama and more concerned about, oh, the correct dimensions of genuine Rolex springbars. In my case, that's undoubtedly true. -
Thanks guys! Yes, and with a gen Tropic rubber strap! Unfortunately, there are still no decent Super Compressor reps out there, though there is a nice homage of the 36mm SC available.

Great work, db2. And woof*, it's great to see the old case up and running again! After regulation my Cal.552 is a very accurate and reliable movement. I'll keep saying it over and over: The 500s the most beautiful mass-produced automatics of all time, and arguably the best in-house movement that Omega ever made. Congratulations, you two! As for mesh, well, it's an acquired taste!

Andrew's (trustytime) new vintage Daytona - opinions?
lhooq replied to catboy's topic in The Rolex Area
There was a discussion on Josh's new 6263s in this thread. As for the 6238s: Josh really doesn't do himself any favors with his terrible photos! The silver dial looks like a greenish-tinged white. If it's anything like the earlier version, it should be a rather nice silver sunburst and one of the better 6238 dials available anywhere (including Phong). It's curious, though, that the dial is indistinguishable from the earlier 7750 version. The subdials are still too big, and pushed all the way out to the minute track. However, the biggest negatives for me are the fat subdial hands, which look utterly out-of-place with the rest of the watch. Also, I would try to change the bezel, and swap in a lower crystal. If it really is gen-sized, that should be an easy task. Beyond that, the case is a bit pointier and more square-shouldered than a 6238 should be, but that's obviously because it's carried over from the 6263s. Ditto for the big counterbores* around the pushers. Despite all that, I think the silver chronograph is pretty nice, and undoubtedly looks better in the metal than in Josh's listing. Check out this old 7750 6238 that was modded by pbdad last year. *I didn't know what a counterbore was until I learned it from jmb last week! -

Richard Brown is a good guy. Whoever runs RWR these days is... not. -
I can confirm that neither a 589 nor a 605 will fit on DW's case. I'm still on 358s.

What Gimme said about what I said! A hone should work well, too.

BLT Sandwich. Recipe is untested by me, so don't blame me if things go badly!

About two years ago, I bought an 082 from Davidsen. That blue Luminor was one of my first "serious" reps, and a watch I still enjoy today. The 082 composed the entirety of my Panerai collection until earlier this year, when I jumped on the 288K bandwagon. So now I had a Radiomir and a Luminor, and I thought I was covered for another two years. I make my home in RWG-Rolex, but ever since that 288 purchase (and possibly due to my meet-up with sssurfer last year), I've been clicking on Panerai subforums a lot more often. The 026K caught my eye not just because it was a great rep of a sharp-looking watch, but because it offered three things I didn't have in my tiny PAM collection: DLC, a sandwich dial, and a left-hand crown. So that covered my motive; what about opportunity? I have a long-term Datejust franken in the works, and I needed to get some Rolex-font datewheels for ETA movements. Josh sells these, but doesn't ship them without an accompanying watch purchase. Now, I could have bought an Asian 5512 or a cheap 42mm PO, or any number of watches in the hundred buck range. But, but... There were a bunch of reviews that contributed, but I think it was PrDubis' post that sent me over the edge. Say this in Threepio's voice: "This is all your fault!" Believe it or not, this was my first time ordering a watch from Josh. (I ordered an Omega deployant from PC a long time ago, but that was it.) The whole experience was painless, with the 026K arriving quickly, in good shape, and keeping good time. Josh even tossed the datewheels into the package for free, which was much appreciated. I originally asked for the rubber strap, but was told that leather was all they had. The improving quality of rep straps continues to impress me; we've come a very long way from the straight-to-the-garbage days of, oh, about a year ago. I do wish the keeper hoops looked better, though. The 026 doesn't floor me as the 288 does, but the build quality and detailing are excellent. The sheer blackness sucks more light out of the surroundings than I'd like, so I'm looking into my strap options. Onto the pictures: So far, so good!

Make some room on the 026 bandwagon! It's a Black Friday for me:

This thread is over a year old, but there are comments about some of DW's non-chrono cases.

As I see it, yes. Most likely.

It looks like the same one that Trusty Time sells for $248. It's a very good out-of-the-box rep, second only to the more expensive and harder-to-source MBK 1016. The positives of the Silix/Trusty rep is a good dial, a reliable movement, and drilled lugholes. The downsides? Lugholes are in the wrong place (too high), and -since it's based on the common Datejust rep- crystal/bezel dimensions are off. However, with some effort you can replace the crystal with a better-looking Tropic 19. As far as I know, If You See Kay is the only one who has done this properly.
-
Thanks, dutchguy2! It really is a superb dial. If our Indonesian friend would offer that dial with the "EXPLORER" text, there would be no need to buy 1016 dials from anyone else.
-
It's an excellent dial, like so many of the dials he sells. Any shots from behind? I'd love to see how DW's 6239 has evolved in six years.

Hope you have something good planned for tomorrow, B. Happy birthday!
